- Fishing in Canada took a turn at the end of the trip and got pretty darn tough, it turns out that muskies are muskies everywhere. The trip of a lifetime comes to an end and I could not be more thankful for the memories made. Thank you to Thatcher for hanging out at the end and putting me on the fish even though they seemed to have lock jaw.

We gave it a solid try. My expectations were likely higher than yours. But muskies are muskies. It was still a great time, and it was fun to share the boat with you and Barry. Redemption 2024!!

I enjoyed following your journey, Matt. Keep chasing the giant - the possibility of it showing up on the next cast is what keeps us going. Side note - I think I have the same exact AFTCO shirt as Barry, same color and everything. I switched to all SPF-50 clothing and ditched the sunscreen 3 years ago, and that fishing sun clothing works perfectly for me. It was a game changer.

Great video, Matt. For most, the expectations are super high on a shield trip and the reality is that even the best anglers can have tough days on the shield.
Sometimes, there’s simply nothing you can do about it. The humanizing aspect of this video is so relatable. I’ve been there too and you just have to gut it out and push through and hope your luck pans out. Excited to see where the 2024 season takes you. Good luck!

Rough days musky fishing is just reality. Spent a week on LOTW in 2019, no musky’s. Great video Matt.

Great video Matt. You should definitely go back this year. Specially since the wife and I can’t go this year. Funny you should say the week with Glenn was hot then the next week was not. If my time line is correct, Glenn, the wife, and I were fishing the week after your great week with him. You guys caught all the fish the week before LOL. 😎. Once again if you can you should go back to Sunset Country.

Yeah we had a really rough couple of days at the end of the trip. But that’s just part of the deal. Good luck in Minnesota, should be a blast!
I know the feeling of hitting the wrong weather pattern. Just spent a few days at my cottage near Haliburton, Ontario to open it up for the season and get some opening weekend Muskie fishing in except the weather was perfect, no to little wind and high blue skies, for being at the cottage but not for getting into some Muskie. Had one small 18” er chase my twitch bait in the weeds but other than that didn’t see a fish. Weather front changes these last couple of days and my buddy texts me a nice photo of a 43” er he caught up there. At least I know the fish are still in the lake. Great videos. Keep up the good work and best of luck for this season.

Nice Vid. Your perspective is spot on. Even on one of the best muskie lakes in the world, they (not you), get to decide when to bite. Now, if you could get rid of the chest cam, so we can see the action rather than your arms, I'd watch more of your vids. Good luck!
Thanks I appreciate the perspective. Working on the chest thing, just don’t like to wear the headcam all day. That’s why I use the other cams too. I just wasn’t Johnny on the spot with filming at the time because not a lot was happening and the other cams aren’t catching the swings and misses out on the cast either.
