Also a spiritual quality to his dancing takes you to another world. See him also in Swan Lake (1967). The SLIMNESS and SHAPE of his perfectly proportioned legs enhances the clean precision and speed of his entrechats born from his natural ability to display his Danish style. Never seen such a wonderful physique.

Bruhn is _fantastic_ here! How could the man smoke like a chimney for so many years and still be able to dance with so much stamina?? There weren’t any jump cuts to cover any weaknesses, and he’s about 41 years old here! His precision in the most difficult parts is gorgeous as well as amazing....wonderful!

Erik Bruhn looks very unsettled in this vesion of Giselle. He was obviously not happy in front of the camera. Still was a good dancer though. Thank you for these videos.
@ballet701 Sadly, Bruhn was already past his peak in 1969. Too many cigarettes, too much alcohol and repeated back injuries. He lost a lot after about '63-64 and his body wasn't the same. Still, he does those tours better and cleaner than just about about anyone else I've seen and he just knocks off those entrechats (Rudi's version).
@kabardinka1, @Suzanne Deringer. Fracci is great, but Bruhn is past his prime. He looks "bloodless" and too skinny. The technique, though still present and clean, is not enough for this role, and the entrechats in this variation bore me, no matter how well done. i adore the brises done by Baryshnikov's Albrecht as they're much more dramatic and don't stop the action like the entrechats do.
