Warm Audio's WA-1B Compressor --> ua-cam.com/video/xepOZ6BmqMk/v-deo.html
Lots of LOLs and awesome tones in this one. I particularly enjoyed the sound treatment process section! Sounding great! Thanks for the demo, Travis!
maaan your channel is great. realistic, relatable home setup and you get such good results. you've got a great ear!!
I'm a little high, and I was NOT ready for the story with John's gaslighting at the end! 😂😆😆🤣😆😂 Yikes... And thank you! 🙏 lol/smh
😂😂
Warm Audio has been killing it so hard lately. I just LOVE this pre, especially at the price they hit. I used to be so-so on their mics but the WA-8000, the CX12, and the 47 FET are incredible, and now this. Really incredible stuff.
Hey, This is a super deal on a excellent preamp ....Ever since I saw it ...I've been wondering whether or not it sends audio to both speakers ....? Does one channel mean just the left or right speaker ....Or does it mean just one instrument or audio source at a time ....?
glad to see you working with Warm more! Their 84 is amazing on mandolin and banjo.
Tres tres dope sounds - best video on this bit of kit out there Bruddah. ✊
Thanks, Jack! Hope you are well.
That lofi drum sound is money 👌 great stuff as always
2023 and I also still an analog screw driver.
At the very least this was wildly entertaining.
I’m so very impressed all around.
Impressed by the quality of sound and mix vs the budget friendly gear.
Impressed by your skill set of achieving this.
The warm audio never sounded better esp in the way it was presented.
Keep up the great work I believe you’ll be a big time UA-camr if that’s what you’re reaching for.
Congrats. And thanks for the video and Laughs.
Nice video man. This Tube Thing sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing and greetz. Carsten ✌🏻
Sounds great! I'll be picking up one of these soon.
Love your energy!! Your defiance to something like rack ears, is legendary. Love it.
Lolll
Hey, really enjoying your channel (which I'm bingeing having only just discovered!) I want to make my set up more analogue that it currently is and was thinking of the WA-MPX. What do you think about using a TEAC A-360 for recording as an easy way in? I only need to record one input at a time. I was thinking amps/mic to WA-MPX to TEAC to DAW. Any advice super gratefully received.
hi welcome to the channel. I wouldn't do that. Get the wampx if you want to go straight into your interface via line in. but if you are using a tape recorder I would just use the tape recorder as is, no outboard preamps.
Man!!! Bring out an EP with that Song and i´ll buy it! Gives me great feelings!
Thanks I appreciate that!
Do you run inputs and outputs of the outboard gear to your effects send and recieve jacks or do you run a mic into the the input of the the first outboard unit in the chain and then use your patch bay to route back into your 388? Ive been using the effects send and recieve jacks for my WA73 but I'm unsure if thats the best way, I'm super confused by outboard gear signal flow and would appreciate some insight. Thanks!
Also, since you're using it going into your DAW as an insert in this case, are you routing it in a way that allows you to easily record with outboard gear engaged on the way in as well as an insert after recording or would you have to reconfigure the entire signal flow
@@Daniel-sz2pe I did not use the Tascam 388 on this video. I'm not currently using the wampx as an effect send and receive from my DAW but that is possible with this machine. Do you have a tascam 388?
I don't have a patchbay.
Dang, that sounds good.✅✅✅
What Converters are you using...Apogee??
Clarett
Hey, ....Does the WA MPX send an audio signal (sound) to the left and right speakers ....?
there is a stereo version. mine is mono. but you don't send it to your speakers. I mean I guess you could use this is a preamp straight to speakers for something, but that's not what its designed for. its made to be overdriven and give color to things and then go to an interface.
Good call. Turning down the preamps on the focusrite, when transferring from the 388. I did the same thing, but on a Tascam Celesonic interface. 👍🏻✌🏻
Super inspirational!! Great!
Thanks 👍👍
such a great video😢😂. you deserve 100k views🎉. i love a good preamp ya know
Yeah you do
thanks bud! keep it up, bring it on................ more cowbell!
Can you do a how to vid on hooking up warm audio preamp, compressor, rack etc into the tascam 388. Need a road map! Newbie to recording here, I have purchased your course too.
Hi Jaredd! Check out these sections of the course: (1, Tascam 388 Back Panel Quick Start Notes) 2 (Getting started with Signal flow & EQ), 3 (Mixdown and Effects) and 4 (BONUS Parallel Compression Portastudio Tricks). These sections cover all of this in great detail, not only in theory for those who just have portasdudios, but exactly how it pertains to the tascam 388. There are several ways of doing this! You can go straight into a channel, or use the effects send, use the aux send. It depends on if you want to print to your track or print on mix down. Lots of variables!
Sounds f’n sweet!
thank you
funky!!! Have you also compared the mpx with the tascam already? Real vintage vs "new" vintage ... im curious if the mpx brings something to life the tascam doesnt have
which tascam?
@@travisraab i mean one of the 80s tape decks. Did i get it right that the mpx wants to offer a vintage sound with saturation, which is how the tape deck channels sound as well? So who does it better. thats the way i meant it :)
YEsss LOVE THIS!! The mpx sounds like a thing that I will buy verrrryyyy soon lmao
Coolio. I like it on the drums especially.
Did you ever have problem with low gain from one of you channels? Ch1 gain is lower than channel 2 on mine
I just have the single channel version
Superb, do you have an affiliate link for the analog screwdriver? 😎
I should
@@travisraab hahaha 😎
nice song man! love it!
10:05 I am looking at you Travis, "dammit".
You're the Wes Anderson of music gear videos.
he stole my style
It's such a great pre, capable of such a range of glorious vintage tones! And you're sounding a lot like Khruangbin meets Daptone, with a little ATA Records thrown in for good measure.....great demo my man!
Ahh you caught me
Nice sound!
Took the mic drama at heart, forgot what I was watching
If you want you can use the pro 40 as a expander with the clarret via adat!!
that gives me anxiety
PS I'm actually considering doing this now.
That new mic gave you a really nice one-mic drum sound.
Meanwhile, I don't have any gear in my rack because I have the gear and not the rack. I have rails to install into a cabinet I'm planning on building (the real one is $1600 for a dang box with casters on the bottom FFS) so instead of a kool looking rack I just have a heap with a lot of cables running in and out of it, that somehow makes things sound better.
Somehow, making a copy of a $1600 box with casters isn't as cool as adding a scrounged up stick to a haggard old desk and pressing that into service as the best crappiest rack in the world, though. My first acoustic guitar had an old pencil for a nut and that level of making something work no matter what is just a total mood.
love the way your mind works
@@travisraab Likewise; it's why I enjoy the channel so much.
How long are your sessions? Do you experience any ear fatigue?
YES. major ear fatigue when i'm doing youtube experiments and non stop A/B testing. but when its actual work i just do what i know. then its more about the playing.
I want to record at the BARN!
My drum kit is a Superior Drummer 3 kit and I don't really need to use clothes to get the right sound. Basically, I mix naked!
I would never say that's too much overdrive... ever! lol
Travis you're the shiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!
Great video! new sub
Welcome :)
"now they own me" 😂💛
everyone has their price
@@travisraab for me, a decent sandwich
What do you use to interface to your DAW?
I used to have a claret 4pre. It was great.
@@travisraab ah so this preamp goes to tape then?
@@suites.74 I don't think there's any tape happening in this video
@@travisraaboh man I feel dumb but how did you record audio from the preamp?
@@suites.74 a cable went from the preamp to the interface.
Gluten Morning Music
A great mic preamp review must always include an imaginary vocal disagreement with a mic 🤣
lolll
Actually it’s gaslamping
Never heard of it
Nice. My tascam 388 is a pain in the ass. Does this sound just as good?
I mean personally if that was my issue, I might consider bringing the 388 to a tech, and holding out and eventually selling it for a lot. Not sure how far into it you rae. Regarding the mpx, I really love it on bass guitar. They are two completely different things with different applications, so it's difficult to answer the question.
@@travisraab love the channel! Appreciate it. I've been trying to find a tech to no avail. Can you recommend someone?
@@cimmeriakurt where are you located

@@cimmeriakurt I'm not familiar with the area unfortunately. I'm sure someone will buy it as is for more than you think.
