I have this two channel version of this and I freaking love it. Everything I've put through it sounds great. Love switches and all the options. Nice tune!
What a great review, so far you are one of my "go-to" channels. I just bought a hell of a lot of equipment, and Neumann U87 AI, the Audient ID44 MK2, Klark Teknik 2A-KT Compressor & this monster here, the WA-2mpx Preamp. I also bought the monitor bundle Adam Audio 7TV and I gotta say what a sound I am getting. I finally got my studio up and running after a few days with lots of searching. But anyways, such a great review this was. Thank you and good luck with future productions. Sincerely TC
I've been wanting to see you demo this ever since you picked it up, Chris! I've got the single channel MPX and I absolutely love it as a saturator. The bass gets kind of lost in the mix under the violin and then pops back up again after the tube sat comes up too. That was neat! Thank you kindly, good sir! :)
I watched a Colt Capperune vid where he recommended using a pair of preamps to mix through if you're working in the box, to add color and character. Been looking at the UAD twinfinity but 2 of those are way out of my price range. This is looking like a good option. Christmas present to myself maybe lol
Great review! I use a UA 4-710d, WA73-EQ and sometimes a PreSonus Eureka. Often, I find myself using the unison preamps in my UA Apollo X8 because it is quick and easy. I do think the sound of external preamps are noticeably better and worth the effort if you want to achieve great results. The WA-2MPX is impressive.
I love the song, Chris. Let us know where we can purchase it. The MPX has a lovely warm tone to it. The saturation and tone switches are impressive; subtle but very distinct. I use an Avalon V5 and a Groove Tubes SuPre for my external pres. I also have some Focusrite mic pres that I am not happy with. Agree with your 2k rolloff concern. I dont need ANY help making my stuff sound lofi. Great stuff as always.
Glad you like it, it is not a finished song yet, just an idea, but I think I will finish it :-) I don't know the Groove Tubes, but the Avalon is very good!
Obrigado pelo seu video interessante. Só uma dica, deixe o volume da sua voz mais baixo que os sons que você está demonstrando, senão pode até prejudicar a audição de quem está usando fones de ouvido. Sucesso!
It's nice to have cool looking rack units in your studio, but with the plugin tech we are now using you really only need a clean preamp on your audio interface to get the job done. Spending this kind of cash on rack units doesn't seem worth it to me anymore if I can get the same results with much cheaper plugins. and a much smaller electric bill to boot.
I agree, you don't need rack units to get the job done, like you don't need paid plugins to get the job done either, all you need is a good DAW, and the stock plugins that comes with it, everything else is not a "need". From this point on, it's a personal choice, there's Pros and Cons of working with gear or not...And in the end, it's not about the tools, but what you do with the tools that matters. I think I will make a video on this, cause there's so much to say here. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it :-)

I'm glad that your channel will hit the 100k very soon. I was already here when it was around 25k with my old account
Oh wow, you've been following my channel for quite a while. Thanks for the support :-)
And thank you so much for creating such great contents.@@mixdownonline

Yeah! It sounds great! Also I agree to be gentle in the mixbus. Thanks for the video. If I didn't had a hamptone preamp...i'd grab one of these
Glad you liked the video
Love mine. Just wish the tape saturation was a little more subtle/controllable.

Very Nice tons coming from that pre amp 👏
Yes indeed!
Hey Chris, great review. I'm running 2 Warm Audio Tone Beast pre-amps. I throw these on the mix bus and it adds a very nice tone to overall sound.
Very cool!
Did you ever have problem with low gain from one of you channels? Ch1 gain is lower than channel 2 on mine
Sounds great!

Small Studio at home. I like the Neve M88.
Can't go wrong with Neve!
Great video Chris I have the WAMPX single channel gonna try it in post see how it goes.
Thanks! Have fun experimenting!

@@mixdownonline True. I've heard some amazing stuff with just stock plugins.
Nice music 🎶
Thanks :-)
WA 273 + EQ here ... olso UAD Unison :manley and 610B ( apollo) ...
Art MPA ll ( telefunken + mullar) ... presonus fs ( adat) ....
and yamaha Dpre + DSP.. ( ur 824 )
Le son devient super rond... excellent !
d'accord avec toi :-)
what about portable desktop/table top preamps for home recording?
desktop/table top preamps have a more portable design, which can be a huge advantage for some people
@@mixdownonline thanks, is there a desktop/portable one that would work as good as this preamp that you would recommend?
Was the unit provided by Warm Audio?
Yes
Ok thanks.
SPL GoldMike MKII
THE preamp for us
That's pretty nice!
I heard these units breakdown too often. Please use it daily and let us know how long it last please 🥺😂
This preamp model unit came out a couple of months ago, so not sure your source is reliable to make this claim
Song sounds kind of like the Cure.
That's pretty cool, thanks!
It makes the kick sound like it went through a Neve console to me. Very poofy and big!
I agree!
