  • Nothing says thrilling like the Hunter Valley region. Here we have a visual feast of 1987 railway views around Port Waratah and Broadmeadow.
Most of the locomotives, like the quality of the video, have gone.
Government locos and industrial, prepare to be somewhat less than astounded by it all.

Great video of Broadmeadow Loco and what an important pivotal role it played in the North and North West of the State. In regards to the Big Australian it was Great to see this operation in action and important Rail operations played in the Steel Works. I cared to observe that some of the flat wagons bogies had spoked type wheel set. Which reminded me of the Wheel Wrights shop at Eveleigh Loco Workshops where I used to assist in the removal and replacement of the steel tyres. All lost to progress but not forgotten. Thanks

some seriously interesting stuff there, not to be recreated. The steam-style depot with the metrovics (46 class) and the earlier (smaller) and later (bigger) diesels both electric and hydraulic, coupled with the now demolished BHP steelworks vision - that's quite a bit of historic stuff there!
