I don’t want to hear any pastor say anything anymore about orthodoxy being false pagan god idol worshippers, while standing on a stage like they are motivational speakers.
It’s not just about the death of ego. It’a about denying pleasure. It’s about caring for people in hospice. It’s about leading families through funerals. It’s about crisis response. This man quite literally finds himself in terrible moments all the time, and it’s the grace and strength of God that carries him through it. It’s beautiful.
@@DrFrankenschtein No, it is not about denying pleasure, it is about taking pleasure in the will of God to serve others, which is the natural result of having been spiritually born again in the blood of Jesus. Our own works are meritless as filthy rags before God, which is why we must be saved by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus. We must be cleansed of our sin through the redeeming blood of Jesus to receive the righteousness of Jesus by the indwelling of His own Holy Spirit. Good works are the natural result of being transformed by hearing the Word of God, not by the carnal, self-righteous, false doctrines and traditions of the orthodox denomination that violate God's Word.
@@ThundermansThunder I think what he meant is the denial of EARTHLY pleasures; material wants and temptations/desires of the flesh. God bless this priest and all those who choose to "deny themselves" and walk with Christ.
@@andrewb1337We can only guess at this commenter's meaning, because it was not clearly expressed. You may be surprised to know that many people have false beliefs about suffering, thinking that self-abuse is somehow pleasing to God. Earthly pleasures were created by God for humanity to enjoy. Of course, we must always guard against indulging in the perversions of God's gift of pleasure in any form in any occasion. Self denial as a form of fasting in order to devote one's attention to seeking the will of God, or when faced with the decision to take a firm stand upon the Word of God to avoid compromising God's Biblical standards is definitely worthwhile, but suffering any other reason is just an unscriptural waste of time and merits us nothing.
@@ThundermansThunder Sure there's some gray area in his wording that could be open to interpretation, but at the end of the day I think it's about the intent behinds the words -- and I think he meant well. And I'm not surprised to hear that at all, as the snake is cunning and man is easily deceived. It's both a shame and heart-breaking that one could even think for a moment that self-harm is pleasing to God. We're told time and time again in scripture that our bodies are temples and to keep them holy/clean. And perhaps I, too, should have been more exact in my wording for you misconstrue me as well; when I said "earthly" I was referring to carnal pleasures (which I felt was implied by my mention of material, temptation, and flesh) and not innocently enjoying the beauty of nature.

@@perprerp He has chosen to walk the path that he is walking. God did not force him to do it nor is god doing it to him. However if one chooses to suffer, they shall suffer with Christ because Christ suffered for our sins. That is the point. Beyond Christianity, the great Epictetus of Greece was a slave for many years and documented his experience. It is about mastering the human mental fortitude and becoming the best disciplined self you can be through all the hardships and pain. You are looking at it extremely objectively towards a deeper bias or resentment towards religion. When rather this man mentions nothing about feeling better than others and only speaks about the hardships and his suffering. He is honest. He does not feel better than you or I but instead feels his own relationship, passion, and love for our lord and savior. It is very humble of him to express his pain and suffering rather than his bragging of some kind of spiritual entitlement. This priest sacrificed having a family for his suffering. You fail to realize it is good to suffer and to suffer well. Running away from suffering only reverts to harder times down the road. He is sacrificing more than you understand and he is doing it not with pride but with humility and that is the most important thing to take away from this. I hope this helps.
@@perprerp I’m sorry you do not understand. Suffering builds the spirit. Especially for us who live in the west and have problems that don’t even compare to other people in other countries. You are looking at it very objectively. Suffering well can be anything from fasting or cold plunging. Suffering well can be a monk devoting themselves to silence. Suffering well can be a rich man choosing to live humbly or choosing to live over seas in a third world country helping small villages. You have not opened your mind to what it means to suffer and to do it well. Those who refuse to suffer and deem it inhumane are neglecting human needs for humility and humbleness will often times end up as the unhappy, sorrow, and weak. Those who chose to walk the paths less followed often are rewarded in the greatest feats. Anywhere from the son of Christ to David goggins or to Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs suffered well by going his own path and starting from nothing. Refusing a mainstream job with full time pay and benefits to suffer for a greater reward. These are examples of what it means to suffer well. This priest is suffering well but those who run from suffering, will never understand it.
I'm not sure where the Apostles handed down any doctrine of priestly celibacy. The Apostles were almost all married. Phillip, for sure, had two daughters. You COULD be celibate as a priest, but so could lay people. It looks like a later non apostolic tradition.
@@Lambdamale. They didn't, but there are things that He didnt hand down that the protestant church has picked up. First time I’ve ever heard a priest be SO honest about the walk with our Lord. You must be willing to die to your self and pick up the cross daily. Much love to this brother in Christ.🙏
You die to this world and yourself. 1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” King James Version (KJV) Thomas Merton stated it best at the end of his book, The Seven Storey Mountain
@@Mapdotnowhere There is joy in the priesthood, there is joy in the life of the Christian, but the duty of a priest is to be an icon of the Lord, to fill the shoes of Christ, to bear your cross and to act selflessly. There's a lot of suffering in true priesthood, think of all the funerals, dealing with the sick, the injured, the poor, the dying. Giving the Eucharist itself is a deep and in many ways solemn affair. The joy of the Lord comes in doing your duty well, and experiencing the good that comes with it, and rejoicing in times of celebration, such as the Holy Pascha and all the other feasts of the Church, but don't ever mistake it, true Christianity comes with the experience of ego death.
I’m confused what is he talking about??? As a priest He “has to die”? Cops die, firefighters die, soldiers die, all on the clock. Because they’re dangerous jobs. A priest preaches. Idk what he’s talking about. Just seems a bit dramatic to me.
Si. Viva Christo Rey!!! This blessed man for he seems to truly carry the cross with Christ our Lord. It's a constant spiritual battle my folks and the attacks are real. Stay blessed All and covered in the precious blood of Jesus.
It's a pity. We recognize their baptism and sacraments as valid and allow them to receive in Catholic Churchs. They insist we are heretics and will refuse us communion. I was so shocked and saddened that the Mohummedans prevented them from rejoining the Catholic Church.
Very, very, extremely moving. This man is literally an amazing example of Christ. He's genuine and feel he is not a part of the corruption in the Church. God Bless him and Praise Gods name
I come from a Romanian Orthodox family, with a Greek Orthodox priest as a great grandfather. People have to understand that these men are keeping entire communities, villages and cities together. They care for the people. They come to bless the house when someone dies in the family. They always have an open ear for your suffering. They always try to give healthy advice for all kinds of questions regarding life. They always show you towards Christ. Before my father died, he asked me kindly not to leave my faith - meaning Orthodoxy. I am currently taking Orthodox Bible classes at Business College.
May God bless you and your Father. All glory to The Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, forever and ever and unto the ages of ages, Amen🙏🏻☦️
I went to Catholic confession recently and the priest ended up confessing to me his struggles that day. It was beautiful, humbling and it made me respect and admire how great these men are and how much they have given up to help us and glorify God and do his work.
Genuinely curious… what kind of things does a priest repent for? Like what does he do that’s sinful? I mean he’s doing Gods work all day and I just can’t picture what they could possibly do that is a sin? Unless they’re you know “bad” like they touch children or treat others with disrespect…
@@elizabeth84266 But don’t forget that he’s human too! He might be prideful, rude, thought sth bad about someone, angry, harsh etc… at some time. of course there is a lot more structure with the praying hours (Brevier) and life in a fraternity for example. But the ordination doesn’t take away the human weakness. Everyone has their main flaws that they need to fight against their whole life even priest, fraters and nuns… :)
Every day when a priest says the mass they offer themselves to God for forgiveness and God forgives them right away no matter what sins they commit. That is why we go for confessions to priest because they are brothers of Jesus Christ. Christ called them to follow him and do his work on earth.
I am not orthodox, but I was a Protestant pastor for 7 years. The suffering ministers face , if they are endeavoring to be faithful, is inexplicable and almost impossible to convey. I faced immense suffering at the hands of brothers and sisters in Christ, beyond the ordinary burden of ministry. I chose to step away for a few years to re-examine my life, and to pursue greater godliness and wisdom, for I was often a fool. (Christ please help me!) My heart goes out to this priest, my brother in Christ. I pray that he would be strengthened in his inner man to continue on in this labor.

@Cheekycnt It is incredibly laughable how you seem to think you're more intelligent and mentally sound then him because you trust your phone and what your own perverted head tells you, but he listens to what people have discussed and recorded over thousands of years to reveal one True God. Is he stupid because he knows the Truth and follows the teachings of the Bible? A book written over 1500+ years by 40 different people that is somehow cohesive and all points to Christ our Savior? The man in the video faces a much more critical enemy than you. Yes, that enemy exists for all people but you do not see it because the enemy already has you. That is of course Satan. This man faces spiritual warfare, constant attacks from demonic forces. And yet in Christ he will be taken from this valley of sorrow to his home in heaven when he is done on this earth. You have no right to criticize anyone's intelligence when you are too simple minded to see that the world doesn't revolve around your perception, and that something far greater than any mortal comprehensibility is what truly governs all things. @DragonTamer31K so you believe people who don't believe in god or have different religions should be forced to pay for a priests salary? How about no. It weird , I felt the same. Media and contraversies have tarnished the name of many religious institutions and with good reasons. But for those left in the shadows bearing the price of absolute belief , celibacy. No ambition. Almost depraved of everything temptation that makes the world worth living. This priest is AMERICAN
It's one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. He understands death of ego. Death of self. Just beautiful
And perhaps I, too, should have been more exact in my wording for you misconstrue me as well; when I said "earthly" I was referring to carnal pleasures (which I felt was implied by my mention of material, temptation, and flesh) and not innocently enjoying the beauty of nature.

how about mental illness
@@perprerpdon’t know where you’re getting this idea of pomposity from Orthodoxy. It is quite actually the opposite, I suggest you look into it more!

I understand his tears. I couldnt imagine what they must feel daily as i struggle with trying to be right with god. Who knows if were good enough or if we'll be forgiven for mistakes made when we didnt comprehend or understand. Its heavy stuff and its flabbergasting to me at times how i can fell this so heavy yet look around and im the only one feeling this way. You have to suffer with christ, i saw a video earlier today that spoke to suffering with christ. Man. Tears overflow.
Hey, I just want to let you know that Christ provided everything that we need to be right with God, we just have to trust in Him. I was same as you, I was stressing all day, and never felt I was good enough, but the good news is that Christ was good enough for all of us. We just have to trust in that, this changes lifes, this will enable you to do things for god just from love, not because you have to. And God gets all the Glory! Just trust in Christ about your everlasting life, ask Him to your life and He will do the rest. Love you brother/sister.

A true man of God. Through his own conflicts and humility he seeks God and Jesus for him and for others.

.
I have thought about this too.
I admire the courage of priests and nuns .. A devotion for life that I wouldn't have the courage too. In these days we live, this kind of people are rare...

I wish most pastors would take this position as a leader in the Church as seriously as our Orthodox and Catholic brothers
Unfortunately these orthodox and catholic priests are false teachers. They add works to salvation. They bow before graven images and statues of Mary and saints. The Roman Catholic church is an apostate church.
I myself am non denominational, but still consider myself a brother of yours and all those whose faith is placed in Christ Jesus. I agree that all of us are promised that we would have suffering in this life for the sake of following Christ. It makes me sad to see how little faith some churches have in the power of the cross
Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholics have out mutual anathemas on each other for centuries and now y’all are brothers? Adopting a bit of our Protestant ecumenism, eh?
they do but in a different way...they just dont live in monastries or not marry like the catholics...monastism or priest celibacy are not biblical but man made...unecesaary suffering thinking its for Christ sake.
@@TheOtherCalebthe mutual excommunications and anathema were lifted in the 1960s. Even then, it was just the bishops who did it to eachother.

I find this profound and beautiful. I wish Euro-America had this in ascendancy than the godless monoculture of secular, liberal banality.
That's a good way to put it. Too secular.
I’ve watched this several times. …The reverance is confidence inspiring that his flock is truly loved and cared for. I would trust this man and as a Protestant (as of now) that’s saying A LOT!
I had the privilege of meeting this Father Lynch recently. We are from the same area. I met him and told him he was famous on UA-cam. Of course he was so humble and kind.
His beautiful little congregation is located in an old run down part of town. You wouldn't know such a gem of Christianity would be located there unless you where seeking it. Sounds like Jesus to me. Holy God, Holy mighty, Holy Immortal have mercy on us.
God Bless all priests and nuns. God loves you really dearly
This is really the heart of a Godly person. This is what it means to care and love the souls of those God has given you to protect in the ministry. This looks likes the Greek Orthodox church. Amazing.

A true priest Amen Amen Amen
There is only one true priest.
27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. Hebrews 7 :27-28
The old laws were done away with after Jesus death and resurrection, current day priesthood and the papacy is unbiblical.
True for every Christian that wants to follow and honor the Lord .
Its really nice to see the vulnerable side of people that we greatly admire, because we think they are untouchable and almost perfect, but then you see them cry and are reminded that they too are just humans like us suffering, their life is not perfect, they struggle too, they are also at war, they have fears, but through God they handle it better than us and thats ao inspiring.❤
As a Slavic Rodnover and pagan, this is a Christian I deeply respect. He's devout to his faith, and loyal to his lord regardless of his own pain. There is only kindness and honesty in those eyes.

@@Jacksonmontyart This guy is an Orthodox priest.
@@nonameaccount7773 the papacy and priesthood are unbiblical no matter the denomination
@@Jacksonmontyart You literally have no idea what youre talking about. Please tell me how the priesthood, which is something thats existed since the beginnings of judaism, which the Orthodox church inherited FROM the Second Temple, which was what the Church used to maintain ita presence, is somehow unbiblical or wrong? Orthodox worship is dang near 1-1 with Second Temple Judaism, because Christianity is the full truth of Judaism revealed.
@@Jacksonmontyart Also yeah, papacy is unbiblical, we dont like the pope. We're dealing with our own issue (Bartholomew) trying to set up a weird quasi-papal office from Constantinople and most people do not like it. Jesus Christ is the ultimate head of the Orthodox Church, He is the Pope, He is the Ecumenical Patriarch, He is the Bishop of All Bishops. Orthodoxy is inherently decentralized because Christ is the source and the mediator for all decisions made by the Church.
Glory to Jesus Christ
This priests sacrifice is appreciated! I feel his pain and loss and I just love this man so much ❤
One of the most raw moments of true humility and the death of ego in the self. Powerfully moving, and as a man, I am not ashamed to say, this moved me to tears.
I’m not a Christian anymore, but this is what we need. Honest caring men who care about others and their faith❤❤❤
Why did you leave the faith?
You never leave Christ, if you think you were saved and “fall away” it’s more likely you were never saved to begin with.
I will pray for you, Justin. People often abandon our Lord, but Lord never abandon us.
This priest carries enough strength to lift up his entire flock, and bring hope to thousands of others. He is able to do this through his immense faith, and that is something to aspire to. All of Gods might to those who share in his calling.
