Ok I watched 12 videos on minimalist bullet journaling and finally found one that is truly minimalist. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and checking it out.
I have just been through the same thing, glad I’m not alone 😂
Ditto! Watched a lot of videos and this is the only one that really made sense and helped me get started! Thank you so much
I’m a woman who is not artsy at all and has ADHD. THIS looks like a bullet journal I can do! Thank you. New subscriber!
Welcome and so happy to hear it!
Wow ... after 7 Years of watching Bulletjournal Videos and try it out a hundred times I finally come to your video and understand how BuJos really work.... Thanks a lot! 👍
Glad I could help!
Same! This made sense!
Love this! Thanks for the getting started video without all the nonsense! I’m a girl that doesn’t need fluff! 🤪
Same here. I think this and of course Ryder's are the two best basic explanatory videos I've seen. And he's a fellow lefty to boot, lol.w
“I’m not like other girls”
Finally, after searching through all the BUJO videos I’ve finally found yours which is absolutely perfect. Your video is so good because you get right to the main points - the symbols, layout, what to capture, and how to use. You explain things very succinctly and super clearly. Very much appreciated!
Extremely valuable video. Thank you for showing how you can do multiple days in one page. Specially useful for "chill days" where you don't have a lot of tasks. I also really like the idea of a monthly spread with days in a list in one side and projects/tasks in the other.
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. NOthing against our sisters who have great artistic talent and love to use stickers and drawings and make their journal into a great visual and artistic masterwork, that is not for me--perhaps not for men in general. THank you for showing a system that a man might find more suitable - nothing against our female counterparts.
Nothing against our creative expressive friends. haha. Glad you found this helpful.
“Perhaps not for men in general” I’ve seen some men like the same stuff
Men draw too 😂
@@markyourpagesyou guys make everything gendered
I’m a girl who loves the artistic stuff but it can get overwhelming for anyone, this is the difference between bullet journalling and journalling in general, I’m actually going to have a small bullet journal like this for tasks and then an artistic journal/personalised handbook, my brain can’t do the artsy stuff mixed with efficiency, I’m too much of a perfectionist to use my artsy journal to jot down quick notes, and too chaotic minded to flip through a huge complex journal to find the simple everyday tasks, I admire those that can do both in the same journal 😂
I love that your bujo is not intimidating and very simple and straight to the point. Thank you for the tips! 👌
Thank you! While i can get a little extra designerly sometimes, i always focus on the foundations first.
Ditto.
My first Bujos were on old notebooks and so on, and while they weren’t pretty, they had all I needed.
When someone gifted me up a decent enough journal, I sought the videos here in YT, and even those that are supposed to be “minimalist” require more effort and need waaay more drawing and lettering than I care to do.
I actually became paralyzed for fear of messing up pretty pages, and stopped.
Now I’m starting again.
Tour video helps a lot, because its minimalism is true to the original.
Hands down the best tutorial bullet journal video I've ever seen! I've watched a ton of videos on this subject over the years and this video completely sets the tone for a useful tool that has structure and flexibility built in.
Also, as a side note, I'm now prepping my third year BuJo; looking for ideas and methods to tailor my journal for positive outcomes. An analog space for clarity in a cluttered digital world. Your suggestions in this video really helped me.
Thank you.
Thanks for that awesome feedback!
Clearer than most explanations I've viewed - thank you.
So glad it was helpful. That was my goal
Thank you so much. Now I can actually start! Everyone else makes it too complicated
Yes!!!!! The best feedback to get
Loved this short version. I needed a refresher
Thank you! So glad it was helpful.
I’ve been obsessed with bullet journaling and am constantly rewatching your videos they are so well made and very informative
Thank you so much for that feedback. That means the world to me!
This is the only video that actually helped me to get started. I loved the concept; bought the journal; and then struggled with what to do with it. Thankfully found your clear and rationale explanation after watching a dozen video drawings of pixies and flowers. Thank you so much.
Great video, never seen it explained so well!
Thank you for this quick video on how to begin a bullet journal! I've been putting off starting a bujo for years feeling how hard it is to have it nicely layout and your video helped me finally move beyond thinking and taking that first step! You rock!
That makes me so happy to hear! You just have to start and it will take you from there. Once you have the basics down, it's so much fun... but so is learning the basics :-)
Straight forward and simple, Thanks for the help!
Thank you for checking it out. I appreciate it.
I have been interested to try working with a bullet journal for the past few years but have never taken the leap. Ryder has, of course, made similar "how to" videos, but yours goes into it a bit more intentionally and it is very helpful. Thanks!
That's really wonderful feedback. Thank you so much. And best of luck on getting into bullet journaling and taking that leap. It's worth it.
you just read my mind. i needed this!
Glad to be here for you.
Wow. Simple and to the point. Made what seems overwhelming quite straightforward! Much thanks!
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching.
The master of bullet journal.
haha, thanks. I try
Short, concise, helpful...thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
This is the best understandable explanation I have found and I have watched and searched tons of minimalistic (supposedly) videos. I am saving this one.
Trying to bullet journal, I personally have found it frustrating to have like things separated, to have everything mixed together, like collections scattered amongst calendar/daily pages, etc. So I decided for me it has to be in a ring binder rather then a bound book. (Even though I'm left-handed. I just turn the binder to a bit of an angle and write with a back slant on pages to the right of the rings, or remove them to write. But I have to back slant on pages on the right side in bound journals anyway.)
What I'm doing is rather a hybrid between a traditional monthly weekly planner for events, and bullet journaling daily pages and collections, trackers, etc. This video is going to help me move further away from the traditional planner. I will still keep collections separate. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this perfect intro video..
I'm so happy that this was helpful for you. And your method sounds awesome and I love that you are making it your own and making it work for you! Depending on how mayn pages you need, there are some cool binders like Plotter that have small rings that have helped with being a lefty. But if you method is working, go with it. I also just saw a ring binder that only clips and the top and bottom and it makes the whole center part more open. Us lefties need options.
@@markyourpages Not familiar with those, so I will check them out. Thank you. Also for replying.
Thanks Mark! I have been trying go bullet journal, however I failed to make it a habit. Trying again now. Your video is really helpful by just focussing on the basics.
So glad it was helpful. I’m always here if you have questions.
Thank you for this just set a work journal up to begin tomorrow keep up the awesome content. Next stop a personal journal 😉
You got this!
♡ I also use a heart signifier for things I want to do - heartfelt tasks.
$ A dollar sign for financial tasks.
T For my daily/weekly list
3 top three tasks I have to do
T today/this week.
Full disclosure. I use the bullet journal signifiers in my fieldnotes size travellers notebook with three inserts.
Oh I love that signifiers and their meanings. Great use of them
The only place where a daily log kinda fails me is delegated and waiting for tasks. For those I create a "waiting for collection."
If I delegate something open ended it usually doesn't fit i within a linear daily log. I learned this trick by adapting David Allen's Getting Things Done methodology. 😉
I agree! This is why I like a daily overview along with a daily log. It helps me plan a head a little and jot notes for the furture.
I think it's important to say that it s not required by the BUJO method to keep migrating uncompleted tasks to the next daily. I do it when I want to do that task after I reviewed my last few dailies for any uncompleted task
Thanks for checking out the video. You are correct, not required. But I’ve fond personally that it can be helpful. You can also keep things running for your week or page and then migrate when you’ve moved pages. I’ve struggled with out of sight out of mind - so this has helped me be successful.
That was perfect. I quit doing weeklys and just do the dailys like you did here. In my index I just list the month and include those dailys in the from and to pages. I almost always have four pages per month including the daily.
That's awesome. And I love that your pages work out evenly like that.
@@markyourpages 2024 I have decided to do more actual journaling so we'll see how that 4pg month holds up ha!
Thanks, you got met started today.
That's the best thing I have heard all day! So glad that it was helpful
Tynx ❤❤
Thanks for watching
Love this thank you
You are so welcome. Thanks for checking it out.
this was terrific, thank you (I can´t see your name easily!). Hoping to get started on B Journalling and watch more videos to take things further. Happy n year from Spain!
Thank you for watching.
Thank you very much Sir. It was really great video for me to get started.
So glad it was helpful. Best of luck on your set up and beginning journey.
This was excellent
Thank you for watching
Hint: you can zoom youtube video on your phone
Is that a hint for me? or others :-)
@@markyourpagesothers. I was able to zoom out on the post it, forgot about that feature. Great video!
That's what I did to read what he was writing in his bullet journal. He has small, neat writing.
Awesome video. Thanks for posting this. I’ve got a digital notebook (Supernote A5x) on the way and I’m going to stand up a Bullet Journal in it once it arrives. Thanks for keeping this clean and focusing on method rather than aesthetics. It’s great to see I don’t need to be a doodling and calligraphy expert to make use of this system.
What are your thoughts on work/personal items? In this example your (seemingly) work related email was along side washing the dog and you brother’s birthday. Do you recommend running one journal that holistic or multiple based around work/personal?
That Supernote A5x looks pretty cool! I've always wanted to give one of those types of "notebooks" a try. As for the approach to mixing work and life, I have found it personally easier to keep it all together. I only just recently separated my social media from my bullet journal - and it's not horrible, but keeping 2 different notebooks can be hard. Follow up and let me know how you like Supernote A5x.
Just what I was looking for, all the others were looking like art project 😂😂
I’m here for the basic approach :-) glad it was helpful
🚂 choo choo!
Haha. I wanted to do more with it, but i thought it would be overkill
Another question:
My organization lives and dies by our Gsuite calendars so all of our meetings and tasks that take up a lot of time are expected to be in that system. This helps keep us all coordinated and productive and makes it easy to know what your peers are up to at any given point.
My question is: Would it be recommended to also have all of that information in the bullet journal? Or, does the journal become more of a detail oriented to-do list and notes while the calendar houses the events? What’s the best practice of using both concurrently?
That's a good question. I too work in a digitally focused workspace where tech is heavily used this way. I like to think about my Bullet Journal as my own personal todo list and space. I do work between both spaces so that I am not keeping my team in the dark, but I also dont like to have to always be in a screen to do my work. I think finding the balance is good. I also think that having a morning and evening routine to review your bujo and your digital spaces can be a good way to start and end a day and keep them working together.
Sending this to my 18 year old
That's awesome. Hope it is helpful!
At around 8:38 you made a page for a month with one line for each day. What is the purpose for this? One line for each day doesn't seem to allow much detail for each day.
This can be used as a way to plan in your month for reminders or dates. Some people also use this as a space to write down what has happened in a Day vs what will happen.
or maybe go to Bullet Journal channel and see their starting up video
Totally an option. This is the same information just told a bit differently.
📔 🖊 💕💕💕thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful
I’m beyond confused
What questions do you have that I can help you with?
Why are some of these comments lowkey misogynistic and so gendered
It tends to happen in this space. What is minimal vs not - who uses this style - male or female. I've come to try and think of it as a style vs a gender.
just watch the creators video on it, it's literally simpler than this. LOL
It's the same content - but glad that you found the right format that best fits your needs. Wishing you all the best on your Bullet Journal Set Up.
great video but also this is exactly how the original creator started it (@Bullet Jurnal)
Oh yes , this is just my express version.
