Loved this game as a kid! I remember I used to create all of these stories in my head about these characters and I loved trying to explore everything in the 2nd map! But what I loved the most about it was how similar the main character's name is to mine lol. Haven't played it in quite a while, though, and I probably remembered it being way better than it actually is by the looks of it lol
I love that my 47 year old self gets giddy over these N64 videos. Whenever one pops up in my feed, I just stop what I am doing (usually work) and watch start to finish. That said, my frustration whenever Blast Corps isn't picked is immense!
I rented this a couple of times as a kid. This was back in the day when anime was a mysterious thing I didn't even know the name of, but I was drawn to the designs, and details like the swing set made me think the game had hidden depths I just couldn't figure out. Tried it again as an adult and realized I was wrong.
I’m clicking like on every N64 video, and I mean all of them. The twist is, I know what game is coming up next by watching the end of the video. This is the journey of enjoying watching Thab beat every N64 game. Repeated comment but hopefully reminds people to hit the like button if they are enjoying the series. This series is awesome!
@@nrogue9887 this comment was originally my own. It got a lot of attention. I only repeated it hoping that it reminded people to hit the like button on the videos.
Hahaha this looks like one of those games where, if I'd played it when I was younger, I would have really enjoyed it and would now spend way too much time trying to convince friends "no guys I swear it's really good! Just try it and you'll see!!" and they'd all call me a loser so I'd just play it by myself. Also, the levels in this game look really fun to explore.
one of the best things about reading game magazines back when was seeing games talked up as if they had limitless potential, then watching them get raked over the coals in the reviews when they dropped this was one of those games
Absolutely! I was daydreaming about this one for sooo long. Then it got cancelled in the us, then euro reviews trashed it. Played it on an emulator some years ago an it was ''meh''...
I don't know, but this game is something I would have loved to play back in the N64 days. Big levels, aimless exploration, hoverboard... c'mon how can this not be good?
I loved playing this game as a kid, well not ACTUALLY playing the game's missions but more just exploring and messing around in Free Run,.. And I really only liked the Coin missions because I just liked finding them. Is this nostalgia talking? yes. Do I disagree with your rating? no. My nostalgia is literally from me not playing the actual game's missions, only Free Run and Coin, and I basically just treated Coin as Free Run anyway~
Damn I saw another of these videos and was like "I bet he will never play my favorite game" and yet here you are. And you called it shit too... I'll see myself out.
With a lack of reviews it was always a risk. Many N64 games retailed for $50-$60 in 1990s money. Imagine paying the equivalent of double the price of a modern AAA title for freaking Airboarders.
I can tell this game sucks, it seems obvious. But there is this part of my brain that whispers “but maybe it’s kinda cool. It is air boarding after all. How bad could that be?” The 90s kid is strong with me.
A game about street work, where one of the moves is swinging around a vertical pole and some dude is yelling at you to finish while in someone's bedroom.
I'm from Europe and this was one of my rentals back in the day, back then u just played what you had and i didn't even consider it that bad, just not really good. Really fun to see this one on here though!
Ooh can’t wait for Rat Attack! I got it for my birthday when I was a kid because I had pet rats. Little did my aunt know, you exterminate rats in the game.
I remember this game got cancelled. As far as I know it was going through development hell, and it was ultimately released in Japan and Brazil (??? yeah for some reason). I think the development team was like yeah let's just release this and our bad controls we'll just call it a difficult game. But I do remember waiting for this game only to be disappointed and find out it was cancelled
I’m watching this guy beat every N64 game and I mean all of them. Twist is I don’t which he will play next as it is randomly selected at the end of each episode. This is the journey to watch this guy beat every N64 game.
I don't know how you do it, when I am playing a bad game (of any platform not just N64) all I can think about is quitting and doing something else, like cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, or getting a root canal.
I know one Bumbles McFumbles coined the term "hidden fool's gold" for obscure games that turn out to be bad (source: his video on four of the weirdest fighting games)
So much nostalgia I can't wait to watch thabeast play Resident Evil 2 I always thought it was amazing that game was playable on an N64 and one of my favorite horror games of all time.
some favorite Nintendo games I look forward to you playing is Body Harvest and Goemons Great Adventure. You already played my most favorite Nintendo game Diddy Kong Racing.
I am just as excited to watch this as i was X-Play as a kid which didn't age well, not the point. But thanks for all the content man this stuff is great and anytime i see the new one i rush to watch it >:)
No, “ random #, what’s that?” At the end of the episode. Mildly disappointed but I still definitely love this series and will watch it continuously until the finale.
I guess I'm bias because I played it as a kid but it has a mid 90s Sega arcade game charm to it. Definitely doesn't play like one but I dunno. Spicy take but I legit got more out of this than 1080 Snowboarding.
I think there was an airboarders game released in the US on the PS2. It was a bad game, considering the Tony Hawk games were in there prime at the time, the jank was very noticeable to me even as a youngster.
Great video! I love this series and I appreciate the work you put into them! I can't wait for the next video because I owned it!! lol. BTW. I always crack up when you say "what the heck is that?!" lmao
@@dr.albantross1686 That´s true, you are right. Africa f.e. has some countries with 4 or 5 different, official languages. In europe every country has exactly one official language. That´s the one we get new audio versions of games. Japan uses quite a lot english in its own language / culture / media, in "japanized" versions of english words and names or in punch lines such as "Fantastic" or "I love you". English borrows from other languages too. "Kindergarden" and "rucksack" f.e. are german :)
The Frame rate being laggy? Hah. That's what PAL did to pretty much every 3D game (with a few exceptions) from the PS2 backwards. 50hz is about 5% slower and sometimes because games were running checks to see if you were playing on a PAL console and/or were running a pirated game, the performance would dip a bit more.
The levels do look really cool overall (except maybe for those long bridges in the island level). It's too bad that the controls were so terrible. Also the game should have incorporated the coins into some kind of "free roam" mode rather than put an arbitrary 999-second timer on it.
I can’t wait for the new Legend of Hilda game, starring everyone’s favorite hero, Dave.
This comment way to underrated
