I’ve had the “work ya body” song stuck in my head since 1998.
Me2😂
Lyrics
Work your body
work your bah day
Work your body
work your bah day
Work your body
work your bah day
Work your body
work your bah day
C'mon!
😂
Same lol. I belt it out randomly to this day.
Push it in!!
Selecting your rider in the cabin was so much cooler than a plain menu, really added a sense of atmosphere to the game.
Add that with the music
Everything about this game seemed so cool to me as a 9 year old 😂😂😂. I remember digging how everyone was rocking Tommy Hilfiger gear in the game.
Nintendo is really good at that
What about the one where the girl yells "flash me baby" and then lets out an erotic scream 😆
@@UNPOCOLOCO444 The Tommy H gear! Never could afford it tho
Please never stop posting these videos. Literally my favorite series on UA-cam right now. Just wish they came more frequently
Yes, even if it means Thab needs to start inventing his own N64 games!
Can't rush perfection guys!
@jay west You'll watch the rest from Heaven :P
(so make sure you get there rather than the opposite :D)
@jaybyrd89 maybe he should drop the random aspect and have people vote on the next game, get all the good ones out first. i really wanna see him play shadows of the empire. as much hate as that game got, it's by far one of my favorite games on the system.
@@Jack_80 But if he gets all the good ones out first, then everyone won't watch the rest of the series, because they know the rest of the games are bad.
Played the hell out of this game when I was a kid!!! Nostalgia is strong.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is WSFJ Where We Shine for Jesus
Piece out
1080 was one of my first N64 games. I loved this as a kid, glad to see the difficulty I experienced wasn't just me being a kid.
This was my first and only game for a while. Had countless hours of fun.
Back in the good ol' days when the manuals had a ton of actually useful information. Using the Z-button to buffer the hard landings is in there. Wave Race has a move like that as well that you can buffer the waves with the A or B button.
Super Mario 64 and 1080 was included as a bundle when I bought my N64 as a kid and to this day "Deadly Fall" is one of my best gaming memories! Snowboarding down the mountain through all the loose snow was a magical experience :D
That player select in the cabin brought back so many memories. One of my favorite racing games as a kid. Too bad Thab never got to shred down the Mountain with the Panda.
for the sake of accuracy, 1080s on snowboards happen literally every single day of the year, multiple times. 1440's are not unheard of (4 full rotations), and the world record was set earlier this year is a 2160, which is _6 full rotations in the air!_ That's bonkers. Want to feel bad about your life? The WR was set by a 16 year old.
(@3:41)
and you can totally snowboard on grass or streets if its wet or even slightly snowy, it's super fun! Messes up the snowboard a little bit though
Loved using the penguin board as a kid. Ripping around on a penguin made me so happy lol
I loved this game. Looks dated now obviously but in the day I thought it was visually impressive, especially how the board cut through the snow.
for it's day it was absolutely impressive.
I remember as a kid thinking this was one of the best game graphics
"Doing a 900 in real life is just absurd.." Anyone gonna tell him people are throwing down quad cork 1800s now? Haha keep at it thab!
Yeah its different when your strapped in. I used to put straps on my skateboard and do 720s out of a quarter
@@yommmrr When I was a kid I did something similar... I took an old pair of skate shoes, removed the soles and drilled a pair of shoes to an old deck. It was fun and all but spinning on a snowboard is much harder then simply applying straps or shoes to a skateboard. I have actually done a 720 without straps on a skateboard.
@@thatguy6638 geez shoes would've been sketchy, at least with the straps I could still jump out it I had to.
Yea I assume he was thinking about skateboarding.
to most of normies 900's are absurd
I grew up on skis. 1080 captured the physics of floating across snow that was eerily accurate.
One of the BEST N64 games, lots of good memories and associations from this game. I always vibe with this game every other winter. Brings back a lot of memories.
Oh man, this series deserves so many more viewers!
1080 for N64 and cool boarders for PS were the best snow boarding games back in the 90s :)
Depending on the grass and soil conditions you can Snowboard on grass. Ice and Black Ice is dangerous to board on because it will eliminate the turning radius of the deck. I'm just assuming for the sake of realism the Tarmat and wooden bridge are covered by Black Ice.
I have such warm memories of 10 year old me sitting in my room while its slowly getting dark outside on christmas eve, sipping cocoa, playing 1080 and not having a care in the world.
My nostalgia from this video went through the roof! I loved 1080 when it came out. So many of these games haven’t stood the test of time unfortunately but for when they released they were fire!
Can't wait til all the racing and sports games are done. They all run together. The superman and battletanx videos stand out
The button combos made each hard trick a real reward when you finally completed it. That's what made a lot of games fun back then.
Man 1080.. what a game. I remember when I pulled off a 1080. I nearly cried it’s the most crazy input to get that move…
I only ever did it on accident.
This game was beautiful then....and it's still beautiful now. I mean look at the wind hitting outfit....on a N64 game way back. WOW!
My brother and I got this for Easter and we loved playing this game. I remember sleeping over at a friends house also and we would just keep doing big air competition with 3-4 people and trying to come up with new tricks to beat everyone. Great times.
I have to admit I subbed to you because of the SMM2 content and ignored the N64 videos quite a while. However, one evening I thought "Battle Tanx, that sounds like a weird game. Let's see how this game looks!". And since then I am in love with this series! I can imagine that it is a huge effort to cut and commentate them afterwards, but it really pays off!
Now, I hope this series will one day blow up and get the views it deserves!
Battle tanx 1 and 2 had great 4 person multiplayer. 1 was still the best.
I remember finishing on a draw in this game...
Well, I was mostly vibing to the music and the visuals of the tutorial as a young kid.
It's a pleasure to look back on some childhood memories or just discover games with this series. Thanks Thab!
I’ve played the shit out this game when I was a kid and never saw a draw. Love the series!
I was going to saw the same thing. Played this a ton, got everything in it. Never saw a draw.
I have a vague recollection of getting a draw once or twice throughout hundreds of hours of play. Pretty sure it has to be a frame-perfect finish.
"The next N64 game is NASCAR 99! Heck yeak baby!"
Past Thab will regret saying those words when he becomes future Thab and plays the game. 😂😂😂
A song from that game is still etched in my brain to this day. Flirting With Disaster! Ohh wait that was Nascar 98.. guess that shows my age xD.
Yeah, looking forward to next time 👺
I played this game so much as a kid. Never had an N64. This was the party game your friends would break out if you stayed over at their house.
As a little kid I found an exploit to get 1080s and wrote a letter to a video game magazine explaining how to do it. They rewarded me by sending me a few PlayStation games. xD
Pressing Z to crouch while landing isn't an advanced tech (lmao). It's a basic one, that would have spared you all these painful-to-watch falls in the two first thirds of the vid. :D
Exactly. I was thinking to myself "He's played all these games but still can't figure out the simple mechanics of this one?."
I was thinking the same thing
I think you can also tilt the joystick forward to make the character land flat. I agree this was hard to watch.
wow you definitely don’t sound like an ass
@@elkellenhablaand pushing forward on the stick makes you pump your momentum forward if I remember correctly. I can feel my body like reacting to him playing this feeling myself frantically pressing forward lol.
Just to clarify/rant/enthuse: Controls during the race are quite a bit more complex than is being described in this video. Its not just a case of steering left and right, but also balancing your board using up and down. It’s vital to keep the boards angle completely parallel to the ground (EG to land on a really steep hill, tilt up on the stick to bring the nose down and the tail up). The player here wasn’t doing that, and was therefore stumbling a lot as a result after any bumps in the track. The game is much more enjoyable once you adapt to it. There’s a serious knack to it, a knack that the game doesn’t really explain.
When you get really good at angling your board, you end up making almost microscopic flicks up and down *constantly* to keep your board at the optimum angle, and retain as much speed as possible. Literally like 4 or 5 movements every second (if not more), even when you’re going in a straight line. It’s some of the most intense micromanagement I’ve ever seen in any racing game before or since, It almost feels simulation like.
Even by todays standards 1080 *feels* really amazing to play, despite the creaky visuals.
*WORK YOUR BODY*
This game is absolutely amazing!! The metal man secret character was alot of fun. Loved Rob Haywood and the board one to the right for speed races. Loved playing through this game in an afternoon. PS: The music in this game was amazing!!
Damn I’m actually impressed as to how well this game held up over the years from a graphical standpoint. 👀
1080 avalanche was really good imo and is still one of my favorite snowboarding games right next to ssx tricky.
1080 is my favorite snowboarding series.
I loved this game as a kid. Happy to see something I've played make it into the series.
yeah, this is the only snowboarding game i ever got into. after playing this i remember hearing all these great things about ssx on ps2 i think, and i was all excited, thinking it would be like 1080 with better graphics. didn't feel nearly as fun as 1080 and i couldn't get into it at all.
Im not talking crap cuz im a gamer and somewhat of a nerd. But dude you are the Biggest Nerd I have ever seen and heard in my entire life 😂 keep rocking bro!
This was a big game when it came out, they advertised it all the time.
This game was my childhood... I now want to get it out again and relive it!
this is still one of, if not the, best snowboarding games. There isn't any other game, modern or retro, that so well captures the feeling of carving a board through snow. The way crouching effects your center of gravity through turns and jumps, how you have to angle your board to land properly, and different terrain has different properties makes learning the game highly rewarding. Other snowboarding games I've played, you might as well be floating above the ground. There's no feeling of weight or friction with the board.
Excitebike 64 is probably the most similar game I can think of, outside of pure racing games like Sega Rally. I suppose Wave Race fits here as well. Arcade gameplay rooted in physics and terrain simulation
SIC game choice!! It's been at least 2 decades since I have seen this game. Dope. There are New-skool N64 controllers available which may function better then the OG one. They put the Tommy Hilfiger flag/logo in the game MINUS the text. I wonder if they had permission or not to do that. LoL.. In the Dragon Cave run: If memory serves me correctly, I am pretty sure the giant hill gap jump was placed there intentionally as a shortcut just for the player to find. Word.
This was the only N64 game my dad was willing to play with me as a kid. Those 1v1 races in Golden Forest and Deadly Fall were intense, man. The music from this game lives rent-free in my head all these years later.
It's fun going through this playlist to see you play games I played during my childhood. I love the memory in the sounds like "work your body" here. Damn I didn't know those three words could mess with my brain.
Nice video beast. Cant wait to see Conkers Bad Fur Day! Goated game that holds up today!
i was thinking the same thing, his reactions to conkers bad fur day will be hilarious. i also can't wait to see him play shadows of the empire.
This game was amazing for the multiplayer
Just found your channel. I am much older than u and was raised on the N64. I think ur rad dude! Happy to sub and watch the series. I laughed out loud when I read someone from your chat say, "what's the lore here"? LOL
As someone who played this game a lot when it came out it was hard to see all the falling and struggle since after a while you can master the movement and do crazy jumps and shortcuts. The Z Button is quite important as you mentioned, also rotating in the air, getting the start boost and do small jumps here and there to maintain speed. It was a pretty cool game back then. I even had the golden boarder that is unlocked after completing it with the crystal one you saw in the final stage.
So thank you for bringing back memories.
I play this every year when Christmas week comes around. I've been doing it for years. Great memories.
This guy never heard of 1080?????
Me and my brother walked miles to Del Amo Mall in Cali to buy the game when it first came out, and we played the hell outta that game
😎😎😎😎
This is another great game!!! Im really enjoying the series!!! And subscribed 😀👍
I LOVED this game as a kid. Played it so much.
Thank you thab for doing this series, revisiting these memories has been a great time. I can't wait for more!
Thab you have to do these more often. I can’t wait 8 years to see them all.
Calm down
I can't wait to see you play Snowboard Kids 1 and 2! Those games were so much fun.
"It's the name of the game!" has to become a meme, haha. Another great one, looking forward to rolling up another platformer/RPG.
Back in the 90s when I was a young boy, I use to wake up really early to go across the street to my local McDonald's and play this game. They use to have multiple N64 stalls and one of them contained this game. It was by far my most favorite one.
that 2 seconds of ThaB enjoying Nascar at the end....oh boi ...
14:02 I played this game hundreds of hours since 99 and I don't think I ever saw a draw. TIL! Great series.
I loved this game as a kid. There was a character called Kevin who I always used, but today I found out that he was apparently unlockable? Either way, cool to hear someone’s opinions from a first playthrough
Man, I remember hours and hours on their game. On the massive jumps throwing down multi-1080’s on the penguin board. This was a solid piece on the 64
So many sports and racing games on N64. I only ever had goldeneye, the two legend of zelda games, and then the south park game because it was given to me, lol.
I just rented lots of them. I had zelda, golden eye, Mario, and Mario Kart.
@@steveomac385 Mario 64 gave me such terrible motion sickness that I couldn't play it very long
@@zax2004 I never really cared for it, though I played it a good bit just cause I owned it. I prefer 2d Mario. Though I did beat it in 3d Allstars. Guess I got more use to it when I got older. Still I prefer Mario maker for the switch.
This game was so much fun, I'd like to see this game remade with today's technology...
I loved this game so much. In my teens, I (for some reason) decided I was a big time snowboard video gamer and this game was the holy grail. It was the one that was most realistic. I put so many hours into the single player.
This challenge, man. I hope Thab will have children so they can pick up the torch in 2070
One of my favorite childhood games hands down
Now this game is iconic!
Thab: 'The input for the 1080 might be the hardest input on the N64'
Also Thab: 'I give this game a 4.5/10 for difficulty'
Good narration. I can see why people like this channel.
One of the best soundtracks for a 64 game. God, miss them days. What a great game
This game is one of the biggest nostalgia trips for me
I really liked your narration. Really engaging even for such a simple game.
oh yeah this was one of THE games for me growing up. Absolutely shreds in every aspect. And you have not beat the game until you have landed a 1080 in the same place as the opening demo.:D
1080 was my top 3 fav games on N64!! Such nostalgia watching this!
woo, one of my fav. N64 games
This is the coolest game on n64 besides Ocarina and golden eye. Thanks for the play through :)
We would have been good friends growing up.
So the real reason Thab has to spread these out over weeks is that if he didn't the N64 controller would break his hand
Nah, he does it 16 hours a week (four 4 hour Twitch streams)*. He's actually on-course to finish the playthrough in something like half the time it'll take all the YT videos to go up at 1/week.
*Although he's not doing it right now because he's sent his N64 away to get an HDMI mod.
I still occasionally play some N64 classics (Smash Bros, Mario Kart, OoT, Ken Griffey Jr. Slugfest, NFL Blitz 2000....) but I legit haven't played this game since the 90's. Crazy throwback for me
Haven’t played this game since I was a kid, major props for you beating it on expert. As a kid a did as well, and I remember it being very hard.
Also I remember getting a draw at least once, which is pretty cool for a racing game to have.
1080 was so much fun. You can unlock iceman, and a panda guy for tricks. Its awesome. It was just as fun as 007.
Your channel is very fun. I dig these play through recaps
I love these videos so much. Love all the content man. Just got one of your hoodies in the mail and it's great.
1080 avalanche is still one of my favourite gamecube titles! nice vid thab!
True 1080 experts played with their palm on the joystick...so much more to this game.
Hi Thab, the algorithm randomly recommended this video to me and I'm very happy it did.
Loved this game freshman year of highschool. 1998 was the sh*t
5/10. didn't get ice man, gold man, panda man, or the penguin board.
1080 was the best. Getting the hidden riders were awesome!
In regards to your question of riding on ice, I’ve snowboarded for over 25 years and I can confirm that every aspect of this game is accurate. ;)
This game was one of the greatest. You haven't finished until you raced with the penguin board!
One of my childhood favorites. With my youthful imagination, I really felt like I was on the trails. Solid game.
Good job, tho there are still a few more things to unlock, like the penguin board, panda character etc. Might as well try to pull off a 1080 with a regular jump right at the start of a race for some cool extra challenge, and points. :D
So happy you figured out how to pump the landing. Very unique mechanic of this game and a pain in the thumb. By the way, nice grind. I will stick to Cool boarders 2😂
There's a thing where if you click Z right before you land, it makes you much more likely to land and not crash. Great video.
Oh i see you figured that out. Nice.
pretty sure you need to press z before you land whenever you're airborne, then you dont fall.
1080! I remember by uncle giving me the cash to buy this game but then I went and got bomberman instead which turned out to be a really weird game. Still rented this one a lot.
1080s are definitely not unheard of IRL snowboarding. It's actually done quite normally by the Pros. 1260s and up, is where it starts to get sketch. However, lots of Pros can do 1260s as well.
This and twisted edge were great games! Twisted edge is 1080s sequal. Can't wait to see you play it.
What a wild and ambicious project. I'll watch every game.
Ambitious.
Game I've never heard of before.....man I feel so old. This game was my child hood jam
Man the N64 had way more sport and racing games than I thought
