I avoid lumps in gravies and sauces by adding the flour or other thickener into a portion of the liquid being used . . making a past . . then drizzle the paste into the simmering remaining liquid . . stir constantly, Works great.

Wow! What an outstanding recipe. Been looking for a healthier gravy and I’m so glad I ran into your version. I used wild rice to create the flour. It’s great that one can control how much (or little) salt goes into it by alternating the soy/tamari/aminos and how much. I used a beef flavored vegan broth and between it and the very little liquid aminos, there’s so much flavor without any added salt! In fact I might even reduce the broth a bit. Thank you for this very flavorful recipe!

I like to skip all this, and use canned corn thrown in a blender with some veg broth. Over the stove until it thickens like gravy.

I used enriched white flour since it's all I had. I am licking my plate so fucking good!!! I was just about to try and make mushroom gravy but my mushrooms had gone bad...I'm not upset anymore
