  • 2 Years and 33,000 miles into owning my 2020 Rav4, and I'm still loving the experience!
    Curious what you can get for about $30,000? This is the XLE model, but it has plenty of features that surprise me and make life much more convenient. There are of course some small design quirks that don't seem intuitive, and I'm sure to point them out.
    I get nearly 40 miles per gallon on the highway, and average 32 mpg overall. And nope, this is not even a hybrid model! Just have to grow into this suv and get acclimated to its shifting. This is a front wheel drive, FWD, and gasoline only model. I don't need AWD to take this to some amazing roadtrips, such as Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Oregon, Arizona, Tahoe, and Washington. Because they all have paved roads anyway, and all you need is to carry a solid set of chains or switch to snow tires when necessary.
    I'll share my likes, dislikes, some tips and tricks of getting better sound comfort from the engine, and what it's like to camp, sleep, and fully own one of these compact suv's.
    Plus, how does driving this suv compare to driving a coupe, such as my previous Toyota Solara?
    This 2020 Rav4 is part of the generation of Rav4 spanning from 2019 up thru the current 2023 RAV4

    I started my Rav4 , on Xle 2018, then after 3 yrs traded it for Rav4 Xle 2020, and now got the Rav4 Xle 2023, love it

    I have all the same feelings about the car and the features... I think it offers more than some others in the category, one is the auto rain wipers you didn't mention. Engine is noisy but I agree it does get used to your driving, I do use the eco feature in the city. Doing il change evey 5-7k miles that 10 scares me... happy motoring!

      Oh yes those wipers! I totally forgot, it probably didn’t rain enough here the last 2 years for me to even notice that cool feature 😂

      I wouldn't ever do 10k oil changes. Check your dipstick every 1k and smell the oil. As it gets more miles you will notice a fuel smell no matter what car you have. I have always noticed that once it gets to that stage, about 5k, the valve train gets noisy if you are using most oils... The ONLY oil I have ever found to not degrade as fast are oils made by Kendall. I have used every major brand and once I found a place that does Kendall oil changes, I was shocked at how much of a difference. I am very observant of how my cars perform and the noises they make as well as what the oil changes look like because I have done most myself. Unfortunately I have never seen Kendall oil for sale in California but I wasn't able to do it myself and went to a place that has to order it special (technician swears by Kendall being the best he's ever used) and I am glad I found out about it because what a game changer for me.

    this review is so needed, thank you. Have you thought about applying rubber insolation on the door frames for sound? Don't know if it's a good idea or not, but if you try let us know

      Thanks for watching and for the idea. I haven’t tried to replace the rubber weather seals, I figure it’s better to keep out the water than sound, haha. But I have read thoughts about installing sound dampening material inside of the doors. Opening the interior of the doors is fairly simple and upon seeing how thin the door frame is, I think that could make the biggest impact!

    You must have the convenience and weather packages because you don’t get power lift gate, moonroof, heated wheel, heated seats with the standard XLE.

    • @Filmlove
      @Filmlove  7 місяців тому

      Yes that is right, both packages. And I’m not sure if the fog lights are standard anymore with the base 2023 XLE
