    I bought this in 2020 after watching this review several times. I used to ride a DR650 then took a long break from motorcycles and back in the saddle. Great bike, super happy with it

      Yea, if I had a top 3 list of "fun" bikes, this would be at the top of the list, right next to the 1290 Super Duke R.

    Young 20 something person here. First time seeing one of your reviews, really like your style! and instantly subscribed. I’m looking to pick up the updated husky 701 which is practically the same as this. Thanks for the video!

      Thank you. This is by far the best single cylinder motor I've ever ridden. It's been refined in some form or fashion for the last 3 decades...so it should be good. And now this same great motor is in the Husky 701. Both this and the husky are at the pinnacle of SMR.
      Ride safe, Scott

      I don’t know why this is a constant complaint on this bike. The feedback in throttle response and sound/feel of the engine is enough for a bike like this. Who in the f**k is looking at the tach while they’re flicking a supermoto side to side through a canyon or on a kart track?

    Excellent reviews as always. Side question? What if any changes are there between the 2018 1290r and the 2019 1290r bar the paint scheme? I prefer the all black 2018 one but I am unsure if there were software or hardware updates? Thanks.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  5 років тому +1

      Hi Glen, watch my 2019 KTM 1290 SDR review posted a few weeks ago, in there I go over most of the changes from gen 1.0 to gen 2.0 to the 2019 which I call gen 2.1. But in a nut shell the changes in 2019 are: resonator chamber on the cylinder heads have been engineered to increase torque output in the lower to mid-range rps, power train runs smoother, consumes less fuel and cuts down on CO emissions by 10%, bigger radiator/Catalytic converter. About the only other thing is the Performance Pack on the 19" which has things like: RACE ON transponder key and KTM my ride smartphone and audio player integration...etc.
      BUT most of the software updates are downward compatible, all the way down to 2017. The motor slip regulation (option) you can go all the way back to a 2015 and up. Personally if you can save a buck on buying a 2018, I would.
      Thanks for watching, Scott

    Hello Gentleman. First congrats for your F900XR :) Do you think 'Orange' wheel on the back would look nice while keeping front black as it is? Noticed that KTM used to offer orange wheels in earlier iterations of this supermoto. Thank you.

    Hi, thanks for the nice video and I would like to ask your opinion from an old mans perspective :) How hard is the suspension if you compare it to the S1000R (being hard) on one side and the R1250GS on the other side (being soft). I know both the BMWs but don`t have a chance to test ride the SMCR unfortunatelly and I would love it as a daily commuter, though we have very bad roads here. Thanks in advance for your opinion!

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Sharagan, the suspension is even softer than the GS. It really is a super-moto, which makes it light, 150kg ish and is great on bad roads. The only con is no wind protection. I loved riding it, it made me feel 30 years younger...ok well if I'm honest 40 years younger... :)
      Ride safe, Scott

    Great video but there is no competition with the Husky 701. It's the same bike just different colour and maybe dash etc. KTM owns Husqvarna. They basically offer two variants of this bike for brand loyalists

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  4 роки тому

      Yes, it still has vibrations, as all motors do, especially 1 cyl motors. But this is the least I've ever felt in a single cylinder motor. Don't know about the highway, I never took it there. Sorry.

      motard. Super fun. Every day useable too. Can cruse at 80. Can go 120+ if desired. Hard seat--but not really uncomfortable. I put a Wings pipe on it. Adding a COOBER ECU which is is made for the KTM and Wings pipe--plug and play. Do it.

      @@tomtraynor5384 Awesome to hear! Yeah I sat on one at the dealership , the seat seemed real hard! Gonna test ride it on Tuesday and see how it actually feels. I also thought about going one tooth down in the front, no need for 90mph+ on a supermoto. Is it a good second bike to have paired with the Duke? I currently have a 2017 SDR 1290 (absolutely love it)

    • @tomtraynor5384
      @tomtraynor5384 5 років тому +1

      @@motard6875Yes--Good second bike. Maybe not so good primary bike. SDR is that. Maybe it's just because it's new--but I pull it out to ride more than the others. It is non-threatening (Superduke can kill you quick) and can whip it around so easily.

      It really depends on your personality. If you like to wheelie, jump crap, lock the rear brake up, explore dirt roads while sliding around corners with no traction, and pretty much just terrorising everything this is THE bike
