I used to travel a lot as an Incline tram technician. Between 1 bag, tool box, and lap top, I'd have to wear all of my cold weather gear on the plane. I once had a 4 hour layover in las Vegas when the temperature was around 100f, I was dressed for -20f. All the passing tourists took pictures with me, thinking I was some kind of street performer! Lol!
I would think baggage fees would be covered by your employer in this case since it's equipment you need for the work. It would definitely be something you could write off if not. It's totally crazy to have to wear all that to travel.
I don't think people should be 'shamed' for being big, but the 'A kilo is a kilo is a kilo' pricing appeals to me. It just makes sense that a light person carrying no luggage should pay significantly less than a heavy person with several suitcases.
The best thing: it actually encourages customers in an honest way to take less heavy luggage. Reducing the costs of transport for the airline aka burning less fuel.
I would let them pay proportionally to ((empty plane weight)+(own weight))/(number of seats). A kilo is a kilo - a seat is not weightless either. Of course, for easier fee calculation, you could do something like 200kg+person and luggage weight.
On the surface that sounds ok, but then you run in to the problem of people who are heavy due to medical issues they have no control over (Such as a disability). Moste of the world likes to think of obese people as having done this to themselves (like drug addicts), but there does exist a small portion that have no choice. This rule would penalize them, and may effectively ban some of them from flying at all, sense living with disability already has a high cost. While the number of individuals this happens to may be small, it is none-the-less deeply impactful to them.
This is extremely common when travelers return to a 3rd world country. Many sell weight in their luggage to pay for the trip. Everyone always wants stuff from a 1st world country. It’s both cheaper and many things are simply not available in poorer countries. My wife’s family says it’s “Cuban packing”. They are Cuban and I’ve seen them do it many times.
Yup. You’ll often see people with 5-10 hats on! It’s quite hilarious. I usually stay at the airport, crack a couple of beers and sit to watch what people are trying to bring! 😂

Alternately, bring as little as possible in your carry on luggage and then put as much clothing as you can in your carry on since they only care about the size of carry on luggage, not the weight.
Aadyant Kapoor I mean... he clearly says sixty and on the screen he also wrote sixty. It does seem unlikely but he never corrected himself so how do you know it's six?
letsHugElefanten it was a guess based on the fact that it would be almost impossible to wear 60 similar sized shirts without getting crushed or something
There are actual bags for this purpose. Some of them are literally bags that transform into a shitty piece of clothing (though still qualifying as clothing), some are actual jackets with incredibly many incredibly large compartments.
There is one more pro for wearing all your luggage as opposed to paying for it. If you wear all your clothes, it will provide extra padding when the United Airline staff beat you up.
If it was just six t-shirts he wouldn't have looked like a sumo wrestler after putting them on. Maybe he was moving and that's why he had so much clothing in his luggage.
I did actually try this once and it worked. I only wore three pairs of pants, two pairs of socks, three t-shirts and two jerseys along with a jacket. I was quite hot while doing this as I had to catch two flights like this, the first being one hour and did not want to take everything off and put it back on, my second flight was thirteen hours and took of my jacket and one jersey during this flight. My baggage was just under and I didn't pass out and nothing dangerous happenedd to me but I would not have liked to be wearing any more layers than I was. I also only weighed approximately 60kgs at the time and am quite tall and was definitely not over the limit. The only thing security was worried about was the fact that I had accidently left a full coca-cola bottle in my hand luggage. Otherwise security was not worried about me at all and I didn't get searched
The underlying issue of flying is revealed in this video: airlines charge you more for baggage because they can, not because it strains the plane. If they were that worried about excess weight, they would flat out ban multiple layers. But, because most people will just pay the fee, they will just keep charging more and more.
I would LOVE for ALL airlines to simply weigh the TOTAL weight of the passenger AND their luggage and charge accordingly (just watched the end of this video and heard one airline that does this). I find it COMPLETELY unfair when I am charged extra for my bag being "overweight" when the combined weight of me (around 120lbs) AND my bags are less than some other passengers alone. I bet enforcing this would probably lower the overall weight of many travelers as they try to avoid extra costs.
If pricing is linear, it's a terrible idea. If it isn't, then it doesn't really do what it says. An aeroplane full of a lot of children, would make you less money, than it being half full of big men. The problem is that they can't squeeze extra passengers in, if they happen to have an excess of small passengers. So they end up under capacity, weight wise and don't make as much money.
Pook365 the people who need to fly are going to fly. It's advantageous to charge by weight having prices fair when the main population you are serving are almost all overweight. If airlines can change their population to be thinner, all peoples costs would be different--they wouldn't be losing money. It would be absolutely wonderful if overweight had to pay more for everything, they are a huge burden to society when their health fails.
How is that unfair? Those heavier passengers got on the plane and off via their own locomotion, they did not not need to be hefted onto and off of the plane, tagged, and sorted by airline personnel, who will struggle quite a bit with an overloaded bag. The only thing they are contributing to the plane cost is a bit more fuel, which in most flights is small fraction of the cost. Unless they were so large they were unable to move themselves or fit into their assigned seat, they probably did not cost the airline all that much more.
silverwurm I see what you're saying. But I'm thinking of doing this for VERY large people. Not just those that are slightly overweight. And not necessarily for those that are so large that they need assistance. Those that EVERYONE fears that they will be sitting next to because they will automatically "roll over" into the armrest because they're so large. And they're not large enough to purchase two seats (even though I think they should be required to if that is the case). Also, regardless of how heavy a bag is (within reason), the baggage handler will still have to deal with it. They're not paid extra for dealing with larger/heavier bags. To the baggage handler, yes, it may be more difficult, but it's not an extra cost to the airline. They're only charging extra because they can. And fuel IS one of the largest variable costs of airlines. From what I found, "fuel costs can swing a flight from profit to loss depending on how many people are on the flight".
I just wear all my jackets/coats and pocket as much stuff as I can, then I have no problem fitting everything else I need in the free hand-bag. (maybe grab a duty-free bag too if I really need to bring a lot of stuff)
Ben Barker Meanwhile, all the dogs, cats, and some babies are in less clothing than required for non-baby humans. What is this discrimination we’ve made for ourselves?!
Two changes I'd like to see for flying is that per kilo charge (even though I'm heavy, I think it would be a more fair system) and they should stop selling alcohol on board. It's not good o matter how you look at it...dehydration and poor passenger behavior are often the result.
i remember 5 years ago i was going from Milan to Paris with one of those cheap airlines. just before boarding they had a luggage wight check and my backpack had like 3kg extra... now i had the same stuff i came with from my last flight so I was so pissed... bitch flight attendant wont take cash for the extra wight and I had no credit card. I moved away from the line and was thinking that i'm gona have to re-book the flight.. some old dude on the line whispered to me "just wear some of the stuff in your backpack" I had a jacket coz i was visiting Scandinavia so I wore that and I put my towel around my neck, I passed the line and almost kissed that Italian dude.
I usually do something similar when I travel. I try wear whatever outfit I've packed that will take up the most space. A few times, I have worn leggings under jeans and two sweaters. I was a bit hot but both of these were only 2-3 hour flights. I've never done it for an international flight.
6:40 That is an awful rule. It discriminates not only against obese people, but against tall people as well. I'm fairly sure I'll never fly on that airline, but still... why should I have to pay more just because I grew to 6'4"? Not to mention obese people are not always overweight because of their own choices. Genetics, disease, and trauma can all lead to disorders that cause uncontrollable weight gain. Those people probably already have to pay out the nose in medical expenses and now this airline wants to overcharge them as well?
Two Mewtwos in Too-toos exactly this, I'm 6'6" 300 lb and while I'm definitely a bit overweight I'd have no trouble fitting in a seat besides the obvious legroom concerns
I've done that, but not to an extreme. One bag was free, and I was going between snowy winter to warm sun, so I packed the smaller warm-weather clothes in the bag and wore shorts under some pants, two sweaters over a short sleeve shirt. I left my winter coat in the car. When I got from cold to warm, I took the sweaters and pants off. I reversed it on the way home.
So it is possible. However, like in the case of jumping out of second story bathroom window to avoid a restaurant bill, you spend many thousands to save tens.
I argued exactly this point when I weighed about 90 pounds and was getting hassled for a bag that was 5 pounds overweight. Clearly it cost less for the airline to transport me and my weight was drastically lower than most adult passengers. I do feel that lower weight passengers should be able to have slightly overweight baggage, within reason of course. Limit weight for those at the top of the ⚖.
My boyfriend & I had the exact same reaction. The airline wanted 50 euros for 5 kilo & we're both pretty skinny, together we weigh about 125 kilos In line we were standing with mostly obese travellers & so I argued 5 kilos to our weight was still FAR lower than the other passengers actual weight & we SHOULD not have to pay extra both being so thin. They were not impressed.
and in the end what it matters for the company is total weight for aircraft. this is discrimination and unfair for skinny travelers. i am skinny 55 kilos and i had to take 2 kilos out of my language. so i took the jacket put it in my west and pass it as cloth in the plane!!! lol while my friend weight 160 kilos paid the same and had not problem. the lighter the plane the less fuel they will put in the plane, so less money they need to spend. but thats happens when the politician are elected to steal money and increase their bank accounts. they are just sold in the higher bitter
They can't do that because it would be unfair for people with greater weights than you. They would have to pack less things because of their weight which is only partially in their control. Most people would have to be literally starving to death to get down to 100lbs or even 130lbs. What grown ass man is 130lbs? Just pack less shit or pay more you entitled bitches. Everyone gets to pack the same weight. That's fair.
it's not about people's weight... It's business. You can always buy an extra large suitcase spot whatever weight you are, they just want to cash in from the majority who can't pack their stuff in a backpack .. Im obese and usually packed pover the limit of a hand luggage and flew probably 2000 times in my life. They only had issue with it once and it wasn't about my waistline being over regulations. 🤣
You kept on describing my regular, every day kinds of outfits in the winter... Wearing 2 shirts, 3 sweaters and 2 jackets at once is pretty much what I have to do to survive the cold every year from October to March. And yes, bigger sizes the further out the garment is worn. I rarely fly however, but when I do, there's never been any problem with all my layers of clothing or anything else. I don't live in the US though.
diplomats have it because different countries have different laws and diplomats often stay in one country for a few years but may have to switch to another country so they cant really learn of all of them and they simply may not know some laws
That's not really why it exists. It exists because the job of diplomats is to represent the highest power of foreign governments. They are in effect viewed as extensions of sovereign nations, and so are themselves treated as sovereign. Their actions are taken as actions of their home country, similarly actions against them are seen as against their home country. One nation could start a war by mistreating another nation's diplomats. So generally if a diplomat is becoming a nuisance or acting criminally they will be kicked out of the country. A diplomat that isn't welcome in another country is not a useful diplomat so that would be a career killer. This doesn't stop countries from screwing around though. Many diplomats are expected to spy on countries they are sent to, even though this is something they can be arrested for. Many countries also spy on diplomats in their country. Russia has in the past tried to blackmail U.S. diplomats by spying on them for dirt, or even creating a situation to get the diplomat to participate in, then blackmail them. One I remember recently was Russia put cameras in a diplomats room, then sent the diplomat prostitutes and then tried to blackmail the diplomat with the video.
Ever since pulling a similar (but not as crazy) stunt I've always wondered about this! A couple of year ago I decided to bring home a guitar amp from Hungary to Canada. It fit in my suitcase, but unfortunately meant that 8kg of additional clothes didn't. I ended up wearing two pairs of jeans, two t shirts, two light sweaters, a hoodie, and two knee-length winter jackets. This was in addition to having a belt on each pair of pants (belt buckles are heavy) and stuffing all my pockets with whatever I could. As soon as I was past security I proceeded to take almost everything off and shove it in my carry on, and I continued without a problem :)
As a small woman I am all in favor of total size pricing. I would never have to worry about baggage weight. Plus or minus of few or even 10s of kilos wouldn't matter.
Personal experience. On a flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong, I had a checked baggage and a single hand carry suitcase. During check-in my checked and hand carry were both overweight. I told the counter attendant I'll remove 2 jackets and some of the snacks. Which lowered the weight to be acceptable, and I got my ticket. After customs clearance I simply put the snacks and jackets back into my hand carry luggage and all was good.
Money aside the idea behind bag fees is the space as well as the weight that an extra bag uses. By wearing it you avoid using that space. I work for an airline and we usually feel that if you are that serious about saving a few bucks, we will just let you board...and sweat. Your call.
I once ran out of room in my carry-on bag and had three extra sweatshirts that wouldn't fit. I wore one by the hoodie and kept the other two stuffed in the sleeves of the first. No problems at all.
I would think the biggest drawback would be stretching out cloths you intend to wear in a single layer at some point after you arrive at your destination.
Ever since they started charging for checked bags...I don't pack any clothes; just socks and undies in my carry-on. When I get to my destination, I hit up the local Goodwill/St. Vinny's and buy $15 worth of clothes for the trip. Assuming you're on vacation...who cares what you look like? It also saves you the hassle of doing laundry when you get home; you don't have to wait around for your checked bag; and the cost of doing so is actually less than the checked bag fee. Just re-donate your clothes at the end of the trip!
I recently had to travel with a suit and had a very tight time window to catch my train when I landed and being on a very tight budget. I put in the suit before boarding and crammed my regular clothes into my carry in bag. On the plane, before takeoff, I went to the bathroom and switched back, laying my suit neatly in the overhead bin. Using that method, I managed to fly the notoriously nickle and dime airline Spirit without issue.
The terms of sale of the airline ticket were written by the airline. I would argue that the legal principle of contra proferentem would limit the definition of "obscene" to be "offensive".
I really adore you. I have been watching the top ten and ended up here when I ran out of videos. You're adorable and your facts are interesting in the extreme! I hope you keep up the good work!
I have been doing it for years, the trick is to map out what fits under each perfectly that makes them look like under shirts and all, a suit jaket under an over coat works as one suit etc...
+Jason Jones want to know what happens to a non american in america, that gets sick ( or anyone anyone without ID)? Nothing. Nothing at all. And that's why my step moms hospital is going broke.
Done this myself a few times. With the most worn, being 2 pairs of jeans, three pairs of shorts and 2 pairs of track pants, 5 t-shirts, 3 shirts, a woolen jumper and a trench coat (with 4 pairs of socks and 5 pairs of undies in the pockets) can't remember how much I saved...but I definitely spend the extra on beers at my destination :)
My mum dose this every hoilday. A long sleeve shirt, t-shirt, jumper, coat, and a fold up shopping bag in her jeens. She just swaps them into the bag when on the flight. I've seen her do this in all weather, and it can be very funny.
I cut a slit in the lining and stuffed 27 shirts, 12 shorts, 15 pairs of underwear and 18 pairs of socks. I also threw the heaviest items im my laptop case and put my lighteeight chomebook in my carry on. I carried the coat through security and just put it in the seciroty bin to be scanned. I hung it on the rack in the plane. I also rearranged my carry on one through LAX security. After 16 hours in the air many of the bulky yet lightweight snacks were gone from my carryon.
I have decided that if I should travel again by plane, I will mail my clothes to my family in the States or possibly just buy some clothes at a used clothing store and give them back when I leave. It is not because of the fee, it is because of more security involved and the hassle of picking up the bags. If you just take a carry on there is no problem.
With fast fashion, you could get cheap clothes, wear them twice, then leave them at a laundromat or with family/friends. Should be cheaper than shipping a large box. Even stuff at thrift stores is often more expensive than the clothing that can't even handle one wash cycle, but wears fine before washing.
Cost-wise, sure picking up something at a thrift store would be fine, but it always takes me all day trying to find clothes that fit, just too much hassle.
When my wife and I were returning from a trip to California it turns out we had bought too many clothes from the many tourist attractions. When our luggage was weighed it was over the limit and would have to pay more. The counter person for the airline (WestJet) suggested that we might want to wear our extra clothes in order to avoid the extra fee. As amusing as it would have been to look like the Michelin Man, we declined and paid the extra.
I lived in another state for 3 months and had a lot of luggage owing to the fact that I was there for 3 months. So I mailed by half my luggage but it was still overweight so I put on my jacket despite the weather. When it was still too heavy I stuffed a shirt in my pocket and I think stuffed two more shirts in my already heavy carry on. That was enough to lighten the load.
I did this when I traveled from Sweden to Prague. I was too late to check in my luggage, so me and my travelpartner saw no other option than to put on all our clothes, so our bag was small enough to use as onboard luggage. Good times!
One of the other reasons Samoa air is weighing every passenger is that they fly mostly smaller planes, which are more susceptible to balance and weight issues than larger planes. If you have 300 people in a large airplane, using estimated weights should average out, but on smaller planes this is not always the case. See the Air Midwest Flight 5481 crash, where it was determined that due to using outdated estimated weights, the plane was dangerously overweight and the center of gravity was also too far back (they also had a extra control issue). So while pay per kilo can be tricky to implement, weighing all passengers so they have the correct weight of the airplane I'm totally in favour of as it is actually safer (and these days with computer models if they have the weights and know the seat of each passenger, they can actually check the center of gravity and make adjustments if needed).
Very little about the airline rules make sense to me. Many times I have arrived at the airport to find that my checked bag weighed a pound or two over (due to discrepancies with a home scale used to check before heading to the airport). The airlines solution??? Take a few items out of my checked bag and put it in my carried on bag! It's all going on the same plane!
The biggest problem I know of is that most people do not know how to pack their luggage correctly. Most airlines work on dimensional weight and you can get a lot of clothes in a small carryon bag. Find out what the limits on carryon dimensions are and use a smaller bag. As far as packing is concerned, rolling the clothes as tightly as possible and placing them from heaviest on the bottom part of the bag to the lightest towards the top. Wrinkles can be easily steamed out on arrival by just hanging the clothes in the bathroom and running a hot shower. Oh, shoes... Put each shoe in a plastic grocery bag, to keep them from scuffing against each other. It also helps to have them in bags on your way home to keep dirt on the shoes from spreading throughout your case. While I no longer travel I spend many years doing so, so this is based on experience. I hope this saves someone from some unneeded headaches.
I forgot to add putting a dryer sheet in your bag (empty, full, or in storage) helps with the wrinkles when you steam them and also keeps your case and clothes from getting that musty smell.
I think a lot of people will do something similar but to a much lesser extent. There are jackets designed to carry a lot of clothing for budget Airlines. So you could easily get by with the jacket and a single carry on bag. Many will also wear the heaviest items instead of packing them.
There are a couple different groups that practice Medieval Western Martial Arts on an international scale. There's been at least one case of a guy wearing his armor on the plane to avoid the baggage fees.
The Pay-By-Kilo system seem very fair and logical. Also, if you are going to be at your destination long enough to need lots of clothes, bring just your nicest clothes and purchase some more at a local thrift store at your destination, then donate them to a charity before you go home.
Well, I'm not so extreme, but I do often wear a couple of heavy or bulky items rather than pack them. Boots, for example, can be 2 kg, or heavy coats (leather or oilskin, 2-3 kg). With a 23 kg limit, those two items are 20% of your limit if you check them.
I did some pseudoscientific calculations (details in the clumpymold chain below) and came to the conclusion that being 60 lb lighter, 2 in shorter, with a waist size 11 in smaller than the average American man, I am saving another 3 kg on the rest of my clothing! So, between the boots, the coat, and my small size, I've got an extra 8 kg or about a third of the 23 kg limit.
What you do is take 1 bag as a carry on then another ultralight backpack that can stuff in the bag you fill it up then at the airport in the washroom you put it on and stuff the bag in your suitcase then once through customs and waiting for your seat you simply load the bag back up. Then walk on with 2 bags
I thought he said 60 shirts. Plus he said the world record was 200. Why would he mention that if it was a mere 6? - Nevermind. After scrubbing back through the video he *did* indeed say *60 shirts* . In the video, there is text in the background that clarifies what he is saying. "Instead, he put on 60 shirts and 9 pairs of jeans."
Haha where? I don't even remember a segment about a Chinese guy, and when I flicked back through the video I couldn't find it, but I'll admit I was only vaguely paying attention.
Funny thing was, when he was talking about the first guy he said '6 t-shirts' I misheard him and was like ' wtf 60 shirts are you kidding me-- oh he said 6' Then the chinese guy comes along and literally has 60 shirts
Since the weight of passenger + baggage remains the same whether the clothes are in the bag or on your body. Sort of tells you what baloney the Heavy Bag Fee is...
I'm a big guy and have compared seat sizes. The Boeing planes often have seats that are about 18 inches wide while Airbus tends to have 20 or 22 inches. I haven't flown for a few years so memory has faded a little. If I had to fly, I always looked for a flight on an Airbus since I knew I'd fit better in the seat. MD-80s also weren't a problem. Only Boeing planes were a hassle for me.
i wore my steel capped security boots on a 23-hour trip to England because they way 2 kgs and i didn't want to pay for them in checked luggage. security at Heathrow airport was unimpressed when i put boots i have been wearing for 24 hours in the line for the x-ray. but they definitely contained enough metal that it was required.
7 week away: (bag) 2 thin shirts, 1 t-shirts, 2 pair thin jeans (or shorts/trousers), 2 pairs socks. (on your top half) 1 thin shirt with a t-shirt over that, jacket /done There's enough clothing combinations to not look the same 2 days in a row and remain clean and all together weighs little and takes little space. toothepaste etc is cheap enough to buy there.
I once wore about as much as McAlvar onto a plane on my way to study abroad because I wanted to bring more without having to pack an extra bag. It was kind of uncomfortable, but I would do it again in a pinch.
I just put in 19yrs in the infantry, & got a brain injury, now airlines give me free extra baggage. Each airline sets a different limit, but VIA rail will even let me check up to five bags, yes this is the train, the two main airlines will give me three carry on, the flight attendants will store one of them at the front of the cabin. When it comes to checked bags one gives me a free second bag but no weight limit, the other airline gives two extra bags, but they must conform to their standards. I would gladly pay for extra baggage then suffer the constant migraine.
I wish they charged for passenger and luggage weight here too, not only is it a fairly easy way to get a cheaper flight, but it’s an incentive to lose weight, everybody wins.
i do this all the time. I travel to Alaska for family quite often I usually wear the full winter garb(I live in Arizona so this isn't normal( with some extra shirts and just take the jackets off when I'm on the plane never had an issue
I've done this a lot myself, not to this extreme though. I will wear leggings, pants, my biggest shoes (my knee high combat boots) a shirt, dress, sweater and jacket. Super extra but totally legal lol
I have personally saved tons of money over time by reading the small print under which different companies and different services work. For example, in 2012 I flew from Sydney Australia to Cancun Mexico with some 55kg of luggage, without paying a dime for the weight of the luggage. Thing is, I had at the time a seaman's, visa, which allowed me a 40kg seabag for free. And last month I travelled from Mexico City to Cancun with a little more than 60kg, from Mexico City to Cancun, and only paid about $3 USD, not for the weight, but for the fact of carrying a bicycle; thing is, I couldn't find a wide enough loophole to travel cheaply by air, and paid the extra expense of 28 hours of my life to a bus line. And yes, I always wear extra clothing whenever I travel: usually my winter clothing.
Surely the better option is to look up the baggage rules before getting to the airport? If you do make a mistake then ask the check in agent what your options are and be polite to them. Check in agents know the rules and have many creative ways of getting around them. Unfortunately, the sort of person who would wear all their clothes is also the sort of person who will have already annoyed the check in agent.
No lie, when I fly somewhere I’m going to be climbing, I have to keep the clothes I bring to a minimum to be able to fit my gear in my pack, so I do end up layering my coats and wear my climbing boots onto the plane just because I can’t fit them in the bag. But the entire ride sucks because you’re just dying in all the clothes
But... as soon as you've been through check-in you can just take the extra layers off, you just need to have a very foldable extra bag on you to put it all in! No need to wait until you've boarded o_o I've gone through check-in wearing 2 coats, 2 sweaters and 3 scarves, I packed it all in the boarding room...

i have that problem also, i cant take heat and my body has trouble cooling down

CaptainMcAwesomepan you can only feel shame if you let yourself. Same as remorse, sympathy, anger, and all the other emotions.
But heck yeah between myself and my luggage I come in at about 175lbs (80Kg) I'd love for there to be a scaled system.
P.S. I also fit in my seat 😉

They are Cuban and I’ve seen them do it many times.
commonly
Yup. You’ll often see people with 5-10 hats on! It’s quite hilarious. I usually stay at the airport, crack a couple of beers and sit to watch what people are trying to bring! 😂
3rd world country north Korea. Please check yourself I'm sure people from there don't travel freely.

If you can't take the heat, just pay the baggage fee.
RoxioGamingHD or just don't do it in fucking July
$50 is less than the $3000 in the hospital
carolyn mmitchel That depends on what hemisphere you are living in. Over here, July is winter. And Christmas is in summer.
Sixty shirts... What who travels with that much clothes
And only 4 pairs of pants... WTF?
Who owns that many shirts?
6 T-shirts fool
carolyn mmitchell I'm sorry to tell you this but you may have to go to 2:33 and read the text behind the bald man. You seem to be the fool.
Mary Asians.
Think I'd rather pay a baggage fee than look like an idiot while dying of heat stroke. But that's just my opinion...
Ain't that true.
Yeah, just learn how to pack you clothes really small and put everyone's in one luggage.
Get a few ratchet straps on your suitcase
Alternately, bring as little as possible in your carry on luggage and then put as much clothing as you can in your carry on since they only care about the size of carry on luggage, not the weight.
please reread your sentence and try to think if it makes sense.
2:33 Okay but.... who travels with SIXTY shirts in their suitcase what was that guy doing I don't even own this many shirts
Yes
Its 6 t-shirts, not 60 shirts
Aadyant Kapoor I mean... he clearly says sixty and on the screen he also wrote sixty. It does seem unlikely but he never corrected himself so how do you know it's six?
letsHugElefanten it was a guess based on the fact that it would be almost impossible to wear 60 similar sized shirts without getting crushed or something
letsHugElefanten What potato were you watching this video on? He did NOT write sixty! At 0:55 it clearly says six
Never had a problem put even my ukulele on my neck as jewellery
Interesting
That’s actually genius. Though it would be a little more difficult with a full-sized guitar.
But.. why has he 60 shirts in his luggage? :D :D
6 t shirts man
2:33 carolyn
He wrote them wrong lol
If he wrote them wrong, he also said it wrong.
He clearly says 60 shirts, not 6.
Maybe someone would sue though
Am i allowed to wear my chainmail shirt and my bascinet on the plane?
No sorry, go home.
Why don't you send a letter to the airline by carrier pigeon and see what they say?
There might be a chance, that security will by slightly suspicious...and pay unwanted attention.
As funny as that would be, I think it would set off the metal detector.
I now want to know this...
I've done it. I had four shirts on and all my my stuff in my multiple coat pockets.
I can also personally confirm that you can bring a parachute on a commercial airline as long as it fits the carry on luggage compartment.
I just wear all my jackets/coats and pocket as much stuff as I can, then I have no problem fitting everything else I need in the free hand-bag. (maybe grab a duty-free bag too if I really need to bring a lot of stuff)
True
So if I go to the airport wearing 20 outfits at once nobody cares. If I show up buck ass naked suddenly I am on the no fly list?!
Ben Barker
I know, right?!
It might just be that all my shirts are not that stretchy and are pretty tight, but i couldnt fit on more then like... 7/8 shirts.
Miel van Velzen try it, you gotta go from your smaller shirts to your bigger shirts
Miel van Velzen You can only wear seven-eighths of a shirt?? ;-)
carolyn mmitchell i only have one size shirts, i literally have about 20 of em.
Craig Lachman I wonder where the other eighth isn't covering? 😂
7-8* shirts
i remember 5 years ago i was going from Milan to Paris with one of those cheap airlines. just before boarding they had a luggage wight check and my backpack had like 3kg extra... now i had the same stuff i came with from my last flight so I was so pissed... bitch flight attendant wont take cash for the extra wight and I had no credit card.
It's strange, you say "hello" to me every video and I never said "hello" back.
So here it goes... Hello Simon!
You should do a video about Diplomatic immunity, I just found out what it was, please explain why diplomats have it and how they use it!
diplomats have it because different countries have different laws and diplomats often stay in one country for a few years but may have to switch to another country so they cant really learn of all of them and they simply may not know some laws
JessieBanana lucky, I'm 6'6" 300 lb

Your call.
But why do you need 60 shirts
must have been moving overseas.. i don't even own 60 shirts
You can simply get dressed after passing security.
Peasant of Pontus They weigh your luggage at check-in. Once you pass security, it's kind of pointless.
i don't pay for checked in luggage, I was talking about carry on
This is about luggage over the weight limit and luggage that needs checked.
Bethany Lade Carry ons have weight limit too
Yes, and as I said, luggage gets weighed at check-in.
I have never found anything decent in a second hand store. Plus you have to make sure there are some around. I don't see that many these days.
I have been doing it for years, the trick is to map out what fits under each perfectly that makes them look like under shirts and all, a suit jaket under an over coat works as one suit etc...
what happens in the event that an american person gets sick in the uk then? do we send them an invoice?
Travel insurance. Insurance company gets billed. If they don't get travel insurance, then they get billed.
strange. the few times i've been to hospitals i've never considered there's someone counting the money
+Jason Jones want to know what happens to a non american in america, that gets sick ( or anyone anyone without ID)? Nothing. Nothing at all. And that's why my step moms hospital is going broke.
Joe Brown they die like anyone else who has the misfortune of suffering the nhs
james pogrebetsky but but but healthcare is unaffordable and everyone goes bankrupt and doesn't get care. We need communism now
Done this myself a few times.
Indeed
In some cases it would be cheaper I think. But wouldn't be more hassle to send the luggage, instead of just picking it up at the airport?
DVT's are horrifying. Get up and stretch often during long flights. Once per hour, stretch your legs, walk the isles, use the restroom. Don't be idle.
It's all going on the same plane!
the funny thing is that the baggage weight limit is there to manage the space in the hold. not the actual weight of the baggage ...
This guy knows. Rolling clothes tightly as possible is the best way to pack them hands down.
Indeed
Stick around Simon, you do this job like nobody else can my dude!
*that friend at work that always wears layers because they're constantly cold.
Man's not hot.
Maskedduelist 13 I'm that person
Maskedduelist 13 hey another duellist
5:16 "seven to nineteen inches" Sure feels like it sometimes.
I've found except with low-cost carriers, if you can carry it, you can bring it on board
What you do is take 1 bag as a carry on then another ultralight backpack that can stuff in the bag you fill it up then at the airport in the washroom you put it on and stuff the bag in your suitcase then once through customs and waiting for your seat you simply load the bag back up. Then walk on with 2 bags
Who the hell takes 60 shirts with them? Was the guy a clothes salesman?
Sarcastic Space Leopard it says 6 t-shits . I think he would have died if he was wearing 60
I mean the chinese guy
Maybe he is a salesman of shirts.
He was smuggling clothing. Why else would he have them all in different sizes.
He wouldn't wear them openly if he were smuggling them. He's likely a salesman.
I'm genuinely uncertain whether all these 60 shirts? comments are being facetious, or didn't understand 6 t-shirts.
The Chinese guy, man,, not the first one.
We will never know
I thought he said 60 shirts.
I fit my carry-on inside my checked suitcase once after the airline had recently reduced the carry on size.
I have also done this, not to those extremes but i did use a pair of pants as a scarf.
stuff pockets with dry ice. cargo pants. some kind of air pump to inflate the mass so heat can be blown out.
(on your top half) 1 thin shirt with a t-shirt over that, jacket /done
There's enough clothing combinations to not look the same 2 days in a row and remain clean and all together weighs little and takes little space. toothepaste etc is cheap enough to buy there.
I got stopped in Germany and the security guide was like how many shorts do you have on...
I remember the family doing this on "the middle"
Winter trip coming up! Hmm ! I wonder if I could wear my skis ?
Penny wise, pound foolish.
Done It! In fact I even got upgraded because the item of clothing I put on last was a suit
“So, at thiiiiiiiiiiis point...”
Yes. I've done it.
I wish they charged for passenger and luggage weight here too, not only is it a fairly easy way to get a cheaper flight, but it’s an incentive to lose weight, everybody wins.
Thanks for a great idea !!!
i do this all the time.
What about large pockets? Cargo pants and fishing shirt? It won't overheat you too much.
As a fellow Scot, hats off, or should that be on , to James Mackelver in the band. It was hilarious when he got heat stroke.
What happens when the wind gets knocked out of you?
HI ! Today I Found Out ! your video is very great!
I like all your channels! great
I have personally saved tons of money over time by reading the small print under which different companies and different services work.
Why wasn’t the issue of going to the bathroom mentioned in the video?
But... as soon as you've been through check-in you can just take the extra layers off, you just need to have a very foldable extra bag on you to put it all in! No need to wait until you've boarded o_o I've gone through check-in wearing 2 coats, 2 sweaters and 3 scarves, I packed it all in the boarding room...
