Revoew: amaziiing experience, felt super safe the whole time. Instructor and I were 1 (literally high proximoty5 attached body to body). Only part that felt uncomfortable was after parachute release the pressure in between legs with the harness. But the free fall was awesomeeeee
1 st Jump in Saratoga NY. The scariest part for me was the night before, and the next day driving to the small airport. We were waiting, while other people were jumping, looking up at the tiny black suits falling from the blue sky out of view. Then when it was our turn, the door opening at 13 k feet, looking at the step, step away, chest out! (Class) It feels like you are flying, not dropping. While landing over a golf course, there was one guy golfing, parachute shadow coming over the trees. He made his best Pterodactyl , as we flew over the poor golfer at 8 am , he turned and never saw us . Can you imagine what was going through his mind in the club house?? lol Fear last seconds.. regret last a lifetime.
I watched this video in preparation for my first time skydiving and now that it happened I came back to share my experience! One of the wildest moments for me was when the door was slid open…and everyone on the plane just started throwing themselves out of it?!? That was my “oh sh*t this is actually happening moment” 😂 The freefall was pretty rough for me, there was too much pressure in my ears and I was panicking and struggling to breathe so I felt I couldn’t enjoy it as much until after the parachute was deployed unfortunately. And my last comment would be that if you can afford it, absolutely pay extra to have another person record your jump rather than just opting for a selfie video recorded by your instructor, the angle was so unflattering that I will NOT be sharing that video with anyone besides my most trusted friends and family haha. But overall…I would do it again!
I love this comment! thanks so much for sharing your experience. great point about the selfie video. I don't think the place I went to offered to have a separate person film the jump, otherwise that def would've been my preference. glad you had a good time overall :)
I jumped in Namibia a few weeks ago. It was a gift to myself for my 80th birthday. I also went in a 4x4 on the dunes. 40 degrees gradient plus up and down the sides. Not sure which I enjoyed the most. 😅
My first jump it was the journey up I was more scared of, as soon as we jumped I just felt at ease without a care in the world. Take all your life’s worries away and you just enjoy the moment. Can’t wait for my next jump. Definitely going to do the AFF course.

I’ll be skydiving for the first time next week the US Army’s Golden Knights parachute team. I’m nervous, yet I definitely trust the expertise the team has. This video was incredibly helpful especially the information about the “stomach drop” feeling not being a factor!

Hi there everyone! I live in Taupo New Zealand and did my very first Skydive on my Birthday last January; I was'nt even Scared, and it was fantastic! The second one a few months later I was nervous as hell but need'nt have been; this was the beginning of an Addiction for me. I have now completed Seven jumps; two of which were consecutive (one after the other); fair to say; "I smashed them"! I am aiming to complete a trio of jumps in December before Christmas. If any of you are visiting NZ ;Taupo in particular ,come do a Skydive at the Number One Tandem Skydiving place in our Country out at Taupo Airport; the Crew are so awesome and of course Super Experienced. I guarantee you will fall in love with the mindblowing views over Lake Taupo and three of New Zealands highest Mountains at the Southern end. Extra beautiful when in Snow. One of those Mountains; Ngauruhoe, was "Mt Doom" in Lord of the Rings. Check out Taupo Tandem Skydiving for more information. See ya!
Your jump vid is so inspiring… thank you … I’m looking into diving in the nyc tristate area before end sept - beg oct (that when the jump season ends here) …. Way to go!
Just made my first jump today. Agree with all 5 points. I like the stomach drop feeling that you don't experience jumping with a parachute so it didn't feel extreme enough 😅. I didn't care much after parachute opened due to slight motion sickness. The most uncomfortable part is the ears for me. It's been 7 hours and my ears are still not ok. Cool to experience though.
I have done several tandem skydives, most being in Ogden, Utah. I will say to those who experience clogged ears afterwards to just pinch your nose shut and try to breathe through it slowly. Do that a few times and that should unclog them. It seems to work for me.
Iam going to do my first skydiving on sunday and im so excited also feeling anxious. I am sure i am gonna love it but my heart pumping badly when I think of jumping from the plane
Thank you for sharing! I love your tidbits and enjoyed hearing how you felt about the experience. I was wondering if you have any tips on landing but the video didn’t have it. A friend of mine who did skydiving had a little pain at the bottom of her spine because of the way she landed.
@@cf8cg thanks for the comment! Landing is really 100% on the instructor. They land first and then tell you when to put your legs down. So just listen to them and you should be fine.
Skydiving won’t mess you ears up. You should be able to pop your ears in a few secs no problem. For those people that said it really messed them up, all I can say is that’s most likely from having a head cold while jumping. Don’t jump if you have a slight head cold. That prevents you from being able to pop your ears. For the normal person, you will barely even notice it
About to leave for the airport to fly to my buddy's state of Colorado to celebrate me earning my MFA. This will be my first jump ever and I'm 50. This will be my buddy's ummmm... IDK, and he's a few weeks younger than me. I expect to have a mind-blowing experience!
Hi! Thank you for this video! I was wondering what you might recommend to wear? Like are there any types of clothing you should definitely avoid and is there anything you definitely should bring?
I did my first jump yesterday morning and it was so amazing. I wasn’t even ever in a plane before until that moment we went into the air. I went 14,000 feet and the view was spectacular. Will I do it again OH MOST DEFINITELY!!!! I wanted to do it again right then and there but didn’t have another 400$ I will definitely be doing it again really soon. I’m an adrenaline junkie
Hello beautiful people…if you are about to endure your first jump, my advice is to go at it with a completely open mind. Try to push away the world of shoulds: this should be this way…this should go this way….etc. When you get rid of the expectations, you get rid of the fear and open yourself up to both awe and amazement on your way down. This is a heart and head adventure: settle the mind, feel into the heart. Enjoy the ride up, and express gratitude on the way down. ✌🏾 ☮️ 🎉
I had my 1st time 1 month ago (15,000 feet). What I felt was the worst was, for sure: control my breathing in the first second and more than that the discomfort with my ears, as it was super painful. That pain lasted for around 24h other than that I enjoyed a shit ton and just want to do it again - I have the vid of it, where you could clearly see me trying to control my breathing.
I don't know whether it was a factor or not leading to the pain in your ears, but I was warned by my instructors not to do a skydive if I had congestion in my sinuses (like if you have a cold or maybe allergies as well). The outside air pressure drops so rapidly, your ears should "pop" automatically as you fall, unless your head is congested preventing you from equalizing the pressure automatically. I remember only one skydive where I had any pain in my ears. At one point one of my ears popped fairly hard, which hurt for a few moments, but that was all. Edit: Sorry I see she addressed this in the video...
I have done indoor i- flying and there i struggled to breathe with all the air blowing from below. Does huge volumes of air blow on you and did you find it difficult to breathe? Second, can a 'passenger' opt for a helmet like the instructor? Thanks. Btw... awesome vid.
Hi Cortney, thanks for the video. Does the small parachute, called deogue, decreased the speed of falling when it was openned in the first seconds of the jump?
Thank You for the video. You motivated me and I did my first skydive a couple of days ago, it was amazing. But confess that before the jump I was super excited. I have a video of my skydive in my channel )
Great explanation of why tandem jumpers can not use their own cameras while skydiving. As a tandem jumper, the FAA, and USPA (United State Parachute Association) consider you a student skydiver. Cameras are a huge snag hazard, which could cost someone their life if things go wrong. They only want skydivers with experience levels that can correct these problems if they should happen. Any future tandem jumpers, please do not think it it the drop zone, or the skydive instructors are just trying to make extra money by not letting you jump your own GoPro. Please do not take your frustration with this out on them. I have seen it several times, and it is pretty sad to watch an instructor get yelled at moments before they take a "customer" on a life altering adventure. $100 is about average for video packages, and looking at the cost involved, most would think that is pretty fair. From the cost of the cameras, to the software to edit the video, to the time spent doing the edits, it really is not too bad. in my opinion, if you have an option to get video shot from a second skydiver, take that option over a hand held, even if it cost a little more. They will get your exit, and freefall from many angles, as well as your landing. Be safe, and have fun.
I'm doing my first jump tomorrow with my 13 year old sister! Thank you so much for this video!! I will come back to edit this comment sooner or later 😁
@@lekstute it was AMAZING! I thought it would be quite scary falling through the air but turns out it's not! Honestly, the scariest part of the experience is sitting on the plane waiting for the "scary" part to happen. As soon as you jump all of those negative scary thoughts go away. I even got to high five the cameraman, just for fun. The view from up above is amazing too. I jumped when it was quite warm, so I could feel the wind, but it doesn't squish you like some people think it would. I could breathe normally, just not through my mouth. When the parachute opened it felt like the harness loosened a bit and we were going quite slowly. My instructor told me how to unpluck my ears (I didn't even notice they were plucked before) and let me take control of the parachute for a little bit. Then he took control and started to spin us. I went really fast but my brother told his instructor that he gets motion sick so they went slower. The landing wasn't bad either. He told me earlier that I would need to put my legs up and it would be smooth. He was the one to land on the grass, I didn't have to do anything but keep my legs up. I would highly recommend skydiving to everyone. It's really worth it!
I've never jumped but I'd like to someday. My only fear is that I'll come unhooked from the instructor. I'll plummet to my death while he lands safely with the parachute.
@@Swampzoid lol!! I had the same fear until my instructor attached the harness. It was so secure and there were multiple connection points to his. I hope you go for it!
would you recommend skydiving for those who are afraid of heights? does it feel uncomfortable when jumping out of the plane? would you think that this experience is once in a lifetime? thank you for this, my boyfriend has been eagerly wanting to skydive since we started dating this year for when the time is right for us to be engaged for the next 5 years.
Thanks for watching! I can’t say whether it’s a good experience for people afraid of heights because I don’t have that fear. I wasn’t uncomfortable jumping out! I think this is a very unique experience and something that you should do if you’re interested. I loved it and will do it again!! I hope you guys have fun
You should ask the company you’re jumping with if their goggles will fit over glasses. I’d assume the answer is yes but you could just double check. Might even be on their faq page.

See ya!
Forgot to add; Five jumps at 18,500 ft - Two at 16,500ft.
@@awateagane1086 that's awesome! i'd love to jump from 18000
Your jump vid is so inspiring… thank you … I’m looking into diving in the nyc tristate area before end sept - beg oct (that when the jump season ends here) …. Way to go!
Thanks for watching! Good luck with your jump
Agree with all of this after my first skydive yesterday. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Sorry about your ears! Glad you enjoyed
I’m going tomorrow 😬😬🪂 I’m scared as f 😖. But ama do it. No matter what 😤
@@nielabelhan1331 how was it!?
Thank you for sharing! I love your tidbits and enjoyed hearing how you felt about the experience. I was wondering if you have any tips on landing but the video didn’t have it. A friend of mine who did skydiving had a little pain at the bottom of her spine because of the way she landed.
@@cf8cg thanks for the comment! Landing is really 100% on the instructor. They land first and then tell you when to put your legs down. So just listen to them and you should be fine.
@@ExploringwithCourtney I see, thank you!
I’m going next month and I’m hyping myself up 🥶
Skydiving won’t mess you ears up. You should be able to pop your ears in a few secs no problem. For those people that said it really messed them up, all I can say is that’s most likely from having a head cold while jumping. Don’t jump if you have a slight head cold. That prevents you from being able to pop your ears. For the normal person, you will barely even notice it
I was worried about the ears thing too bc I also have mild tinnitus but it is truly nothing. This comment is so true!
Skydiving on the 2nd of June is the best!

Thank you. I'm going for my birthday
Thanks for watching! Have fun
About to leave for the airport to fly to my buddy's state of Colorado to celebrate me earning my MFA. This will be my first jump ever and I'm 50. This will be my buddy's ummmm... IDK, and he's a few weeks younger than me.
I expect to have a mind-blowing experience!
Congrats!
Going to DeLand on my 55th birthday for my 1st skydive

I’m con considering doing my first jump here in October
In key west? I recommend 100%!
Hi! Thank you for this video! I was wondering what you might recommend to wear? Like are there any types of clothing you should definitely avoid and is there anything you definitely should bring?
@@audrey928 I like wearing tighter clothes that won’t flow around in the wind. But you can also just put on the jumpsuit provided by the company
I agree with everything you said. I have jumped 3 times in the last year, twice in Moab Utah and once in Punta Gorda, Fl. and yes i would do it again
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching
Congrats!

This sunday in Germany 🎉🎉
Have fun!
✌🏾 ☮️ 🎉
thank you for sharing!
This was so helpful! Very nervous for my first jump but I’m eager.

your channel is amazing im subbing. Havent been skydiving yet but i want to
Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate the support :)
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad that you enjoyed it overall.
Thanks for watching! I didn’t have issues breathing. You should call the company you want to jump with to ask about the helmet
@@ExploringwithCourtney thank you
What about the impact at landing? Is there any risk of hard impact?
The instructor landed first and then told me when to put my feet on the ground. It went very smoothly for me!
good video!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Cortney, thanks for the video. Does the small parachute, called deogue, decreased the speed of falling when it was openned in the first seconds of the jump?
Thanks for watching! I don’t believe it impacts the speed
Thank You for the video. You motivated me and I did my first skydive a couple of days ago, it was amazing. But confess that before the jump I was super excited. I have a video of my skydive in my channel )
That’s awesome! Congrats
@@ExploringwithCourtney Thank a lot
thanks
Thanks for you perspective! I definitely wish I could have gotten another jumper to record my jump.
I'm doing my first jump tomorrow with my 13 year old sister! Thank you so much for this video!! I will come back to edit this comment sooner or later 😁
Have a great jump!!
@@ExploringwithCourtney Thanks!
How was it?
Btw I went with my sister and my brother. I just thought my brother wouldn't go since he is 10.
Thank you ❤
Beautiful 😍 and brave
Just subscribed
Thanks!
I think I am most hesitant about the landing part. What is that like?
It was very easy. I think I just pulled my legs up and my instructor landed smoothly on his feet and told me I could stand up.
I'm going for the first time tomorrow I'm very nervous
Have a great time!
My 24th birthday Sunday, everybody did it on the theirs so shit ima do it… brb 😫
would you recommend skydiving for those who are afraid of heights? does it feel uncomfortable when jumping out of the plane? would you think that this experience is once in a lifetime? thank you for this, my boyfriend has been eagerly wanting to skydive since we started dating this year for when the time is right for us to be engaged for the next 5 years.
I’m a bit scared of heights. Not terrified of them but don’t love them. On our way to skydive for the first time ever.
My only advice is you can prepare yourself but that drop and one minute of freefalling does not feel real! It’s like a dream
I wear specs...how will it affect my experience?
You should ask the company you’re jumping with if their goggles will fit over glasses. I’d assume the answer is yes but you could just double check. Might even be on their faq page.
Well, you will definitely feel the free falling!! Unless you are distracted by having a dude behind your back lol 😂
I like your video thanks for it.
But not the part of not feeling the free falling 😮😂
Thanks for watching!
I'm going next month on the 22nd April, I'm absolutely terrified...
