I went skydiving this past Tuesday the 26th of February 2020, and it was SUPER AMAZING! I had such a blast on my first jump, I went up a second time 30 minutes later. I honestly feel everyone should do it at least once in their life. One thing I would suggest is to breathe in from your nose to get air into your lungs. Awesome video.

Depending on what speed the plane is traveling the momment you jump from it determines what you will feel. Faster plane and like me you don't feel the stomach feeling whatsoever. Slower single prob plane and I've read that you'll feel the drop feeling for a couple seconds.

My story is that I am a pilot, almost commercially certified. I know some people who used to be jump pilots, and one of them told me that I should go skydiving if they were to offer me a job. It shows that you are into the sport, and willing to make a contribution above and beyond just flying the plane. After 2 cancellations for weather, I finally went up today, and in one word, it was insane. It was cold at 10,000 AGL (13,000 ASL), and of course very windy. There was the initial drop, and then I managed to convince myself that I could breathe. With definite effort, I overcame the sensory overload and soaked it in. Then the parachute deployed (it was incredibly soft, I barely noticed it until I was vertical), and I did some turns and a spiral. My instructor took control at about 1,000' and we landed softly back at the airport. I still can't believe it, but is was the craziest most fun, and unbelievable experience I have ever had. Whenever you have the chance, do it. Get the photo package as well. Your first jump is something you will want to keep in photo and video forever.

So I've booked my FIRST tandem jump! I want to disagree with your tip 'Don' t think about it'. I'm really excited, but I AM afraid of being afraid, so thinking about it is practically all I've done! I don't want to be surprised or intimidated as we reach altitude, so I try to visualize every aspect; the rush of wind, the view, the sounds, will I be cold- everything. I want to embrace the experience and have no fear! However I do refuse to think about failure, mishaps, accidents or being afraid. Great video, I'm your newest subscriber! 👍

Thats me too. My jump isn't for months but already I'm trying to get all Zen-like and mentally prepared...I'm not great with heights...yesterday I practised sitting on the edge of my garage roof, imagining I was about to jump and that the ground was 13,000 ft below ;-)

@@marcchrys Man, oh man! You're gonna love it! The data overload in your brain is so overwhelming- a million thoughts in each second. It took a week or to unpack the experience in my mind. I think it was Will Smith who said you go from looking out the airplane door and feeling the most terrified you've ever been, to jumping and feeling more blissful than you've ever imagined. Let me know how it goes, and remember you never regret what you do, you only regret what you don't do.

My first skydive I had same emotions you did, I'm like. Pff, easy, not scary at all. Then the door opened up. I went from super chill, to 100% panic and freaking out. Once I was pushed out of the plane and in free fall I was super calm. I'm a skydiver now.
PS. The stomach drop feeling you get is when you're accelerating fast. Since your plane is moving at speed you don't get the feeling. If you jump out of helicopter, you typically do get belly drop feeling.

This is probably the most relatable description of sky diving and the sensation, or lack there of that you feel. I love roller coasters, but the hardest part about them is that free fall feeling, when you feel your stomach drop. I have learned to cope with that for the sake of the the rest of the ide being enjoyable. I would love to have the sensation of flying without that stomach drop feeling. Thank you for clarifying that for people like me.

Mine was the most awesome experience. My instructor was awesome. He’s one of the top rated instructors there. All of them seem to be but this guy went skydiving over 4100 times. My jumpers 14,000 feet. And he explained everything really thoroughly from beginning to end before we got on the plane. And then he actually reviewed with me one last time right before it was time to go. He’s really calm and funny and his jokes are really good. Really helps you forget about the nerves or I should say it this way. It kind of takes the edge off. And you feel calmer. I was a very first one jumping out of that plane. And as soon as I stepped out it was the most amazing experience ever!!!!!! Especially the explosion of adrenaline and I had extreme amounts of your four that I have never felt before. My instructor even spun us around in circles in the free fall. More than once. Spun us quite a few times. I meant to say that I had the explosion of extreme euphoria. Sorry about the mess up there. But he actually asked me if I wanted to get spun around and I had to say yes. One minute goes by and the next thing you knew I got to help him deploy a parachute. My ears were a little bit unequalized but he told me just to blow out a little bit but not too hard and so I did and it works. But I lower you get the more equalize your ears get. I knew that from the beginning that it could happen. It does not hurt at all. It’s like the airplane feeling. I flew through a cloud in the parachute and I did the wild version of the ride. Doing some crazy spirals. Right after my instructor leaned us out of that plane I was hooked and addicted. Mine was at skydive Spaceland Dallas. I really recommend you go there the next time you skydive. They are great. A top rated facility. I’m definitely going back in July or August. Also met another instructor on the ground after landing who helped me inside to remove my harness while my instructor moved his. The instructor who helped me out was amazing. She asked me if I had fun and we talked for a minute. And then my actual skydiving instructor. The one who jump with me give me a scan of a booklet to keep. It was nice meeting another instructor after landing. I messed up a little bit. I’ll say the sentence again. My skydiving instructor gave me a booklet to keep with me to keep track of skydiving.

Thank you Sherry! Thank you for being so aware of your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Your video has been most helpful.
I've watched so many first-time tandem videos in an effort to educate and prepare myself for my first jump. Alas, other than Will Smith's video, all the others have been shallow and anemic.
You gave me the meat that I was looking for; a blow by blow account of the process from an emotional and mental viewpoint as well as a comprehensive outline of what actually happens, why it happens and how you responded to each event as it unfolded.
I'm 65 and on May 22, 2021, will be making my first skydive as part of a fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity - Fayette County, Texas.
I often find myself chanting Will Smith's line from his first skydive video, "Good things are waiting for you on the other side of Fear. "
Watching your video has given me the confidence and the calmness that comes from knowing what to expect and what my role is in making this a pleasant, life-affirming experience.

@@youcandoit7494 That's awesome! I jumped from 13500 feet and I loved the free fall, but when the parachute was deployed my stomach dropped and I felt sick.

CyanideCN- yeah, when he started to turn, I freaked out abit and then got used to it. Good job. Try 15000 next. Worth it

Thats the scariest part for me. Having that free fall sinking feeling in your stomach for 3 minutes straight. I don't care about the height.

I'm not a fan of rollercoasters either but skydiving's great! I can give you some tips before your first skydive. Maybe consider going to an Indoor Skydive Center. There you will get the feeling of the free-fall without the scary height. I did that first and I think it helped with my confidence. Also do not have anything with milk in it before your jump. I made that mistake last year before an aerobatic flight and nearly redecorated the inside of the cockpit! I was super scared before my first skydive but nearly all of my fear was on the ground before the flight. As I got kitted up my heart rate returned to normal and stayed like that throughout the skydive experience. I've since done two more tandem skydives which were just a way of relaxing! You can see the difference in me on my UA-cam channel which includes other so-called 'crazy' stuff like wing walking which I find is just a walk in the park!

Yes but only for like 3 or 4 seconds till you get to velocity. Then it just feels like you're floating and its windy.
