    to bolt the eye hook faster, put 1 in to the cordless drill and use it to turn the ones in the lanterns

      You can cut out most of the faces using a jigsaw or scroll saw.

    Is the time you mentioned including the CNC time, or excluding?

    Would you fancy selling me a couple of 6 mm templates for the faces? I could then rough cut them out and finish with a flush trim bit ,wouldn't have to be that intricate

    • @johnosullivan8068
      @johnosullivan8068 3 роки тому

      I'm in Ireland, 3 mm might be better as I would need to use a 1linch trim bit in the router to cut the 3/4 stock and it would be cheaper to ship them,I did 3 today ,a bit rough and ready with the jigsaw though

    I am curious.. It seems like you covered the back slot on these boxes when showing them off with the light inside... Because the hole in the back makes it harder to see the face.
    Did you sell them with some sort of cover on the back or did you only do that for the video?

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  2 роки тому

      @@markb8954 The tabs are there to keep the pieces in place. If you don't have them there is a good chance that the pieces will get caught by the bit and fly out and possibly ruin the rest of project.

    Thanks for the video. Love the lesson. Wife says I have to pay for my tool before I get new ones. How much sanding do you have to do in the cuts because when I use my down cut bit on I have to do some sanding around the eyes and the nose Etc because of little fuzzies.

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  2 роки тому

      I just used some scrap 120 grit sandpaper folded in half and sanded just enough to get rid of the worst of it. Less than a minute on each face.

  • @markb8954

    I just don’t quite understand why you start with 8 inch wide boards, but then trim them down to 5 1/4? So what are the final dimensions of the box once you trim the boards down?

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  2 роки тому

      I don't start with 8" boards. They are all around 5 1/2". I trim them down to 5 1/4" so that they are all the same width. If they're all the same size it makes it easier to batch out the boxes.

    SO I know this was 2 years ago, and I'm not the safety police, but you have your pinky finger just hanging out doing nothing while you're pushing material through, stretch that pinky out over the top of your table saw fence and then grip the fence with that finger and your safety goes up 10x.
