Oh no! The link is dead now 😔
google jackolantern faces resize and print lmao
Freepik is a great source for free graphics, they have hundreds of jack o lantern faces and other holiday graphics.
swapping to a router is such a great idea. so much faster!
Totally agree!
I have never even used a router, but I am thinking seriously it might be a good investment. Kevin does great work!
I love the fact that you don’t use a CNC I love when things are made authentically everything by hand because that’s just the way I make things myself great job
I was sceptical at first, but I really think the rounded corners look better. Especially for the nose hole. Well done. Since I live in a small appartment now with limited access to woodowrking tools and space, I've been looking for a seasonal project I can sell. I'll have to snag this one! Just off the top of my head, I can see a thanksgiving and Christmas variant. Maybe a New Years one...
Oooooo! I bought a used router from a guy and he gave me a bunch of bits (including this one) and the bushings. I had no idea what those bushings were for but now I know! Wow! How fun! I've got to try this!
Glad I could help!
Hi Kevin and Billie Jo. Love them!!!
You have shown me more about how to use a router than any video I've seen I'm a beginner with a router and I want to saw thank you!!!!
Thank you for sharing this. I was wondering how to make these.
awesome way to tackle this! thanks for sharing
These are fantastic! Great tips!
Thats, the only tool I dont have yet. Router. My husband was given me some of his old tools. Which I didn't care if it 2as used or not. I love theses boxes. Ive seen them and Ive gotten told you better not buy them. Because you can make them yourself. Thank you for sharing them. My oldest daughter Birthday is next month perfect gift for her home
I have 7 routers lol
I may be a hoarder
Great idea. Gonna try it tomorrow.
fantastic.. I am an artist. I can produce 1000's of "faces".. you are an artist! you can produce 1000's of products
Cool 😎
what a fantastic idea thank you for sharing your amazing talent 👏
They look wonderful! Especially, when you put the candles in. Best wishes on more and more sales. Hugs and Love to you and Billiejo
Thank you so much!
Makin' Sawdust, it is always my pleasure.
Clever idea, thanks for sharing.
What a great video, I loved the box template you made to hold the board whilst routing the face.
Thanks for sharing
👏👍👏👍
Thanks so much 😊
Great idea, cool jig thanks for sharing!
Thanks
Great ideas! Thank you Kevin 👍
Glad you like them!
Great idea Kev! I use a similar setup to produce coin holders. All the time is invested in the template then boom! Batching central. Nice.
Great tip!
Fantastic! I love fast High volume projects, decent profit without a massive time commitment for each item

Love the channel name, I think this is the first time watching your video. I have a cnc but my dad is old school so I wanted to check it out. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks
Fantastic job!
Thank you very much!
Really great idea. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I was able to earn 1 K using your technique. It works very well!!!!!!
Awesome ❤️
Outstanding , thank you for sharing 👍
Nicely done Kevin and good advice mate. I've never seen these before in the UK 😊
Me neither, but I have also never been in the UK :) :)
Great idea thanks for sharing
Great video! I will be making these next year!
They sell great
Subbed I’ve done the guide bushing trick on some of my repetitive builds…makes life so much easier and like most woodworkers exactness, squareness, consistency and flawlessness are always the target (not necessarily the outcome) but using templates with a router is a step towards that goal……just gotta make one really really perfect template and the rest is a breeze 👍
awesome project.👍
GREAT stuff here. I now have a job for my Daughter this summer..lol
That is awesome!
Brilliant template routing idea! I’m struggling with bearing guides and not getting a clean cut. I’ll give this a go.
Cool
Neat tricks for treats.
Very catchy phrasing there, lol. 👍🏻🍁🎃👻🛠
good idea, thanks
'What else do you do?'; most important to have a good answer! Great vid Kevin, thanks mate.
Glad you enjoyed it. I do all sorts of stuff Mark :) Tidbits of random (partial genius) exude sometimes when I least expect it.
I surprise myself with things I say or do sometimes too hahahaha
Makin' Sawdust You have a touch of woodworker genius in you...obvious in your finished product!
looks great thanks
Thank you 🇺🇸
I've got to try this as well.
Do it!!
Great idea my man.
Thanks!
Great idea!
Glad you think so!
Such a great idea. Thanks 🔥🔥🔥
Sweet
Awesome work!!!
Thank you
That is a great approach to making those! I have only made 2 of them and they are on my front porch for personal use. I used cedar pickets for mine. I cut my first one with a jigsaw. It got a little hairy cutting it out that way so i switched over to the scroll saw on the second one. Your way seems so much safer and definitely faster once you get your templates made. Keep up the great work!
Very cool!
I've just made a bunch of these using a CNC, a Jigsaw, and a Scroll Saw to see which was best for me. I'm not sure why I didn't think of a router template. It looks much, much faster for the simpler, smoother faces.
Definitely giving this a go! :)
Thanks for sharing
How is hand routing going to be faster than using a cnc? 🤔
@@LuisCasstle for a one-off, or a small run of
Very cool!
Thanks
Excellent tip! I have a CNC, but I might just cut the templates with it and do the production runs on my router table with my beefy Porter Cable 3hp beast.
That's a great idea!
Why? Throw the sheet on the CNC, cut and you have many cut at once while you do something else. Should take 5 mins.
Thanks man!!
No problem!
Great idea! You could easily come back with a jig saw and sharpen the corners with little time invested.
Yep, good ide
Thx
Thank you for the recommendation sir. Fellow Wyo woodworking hobbyists in Casper, not Gillette.
Cool 😎
Nice vid, Kevin. I have a Ryobi trim router, but annoyingly you cant get collars for them. This could probably be done with a copying bit as well. Cheers, and thanks for sharing.
Great idea with a pattern bit. I am thinking about investing in some spiral cutt pattern bits.
RE collars: couldn't you use a standard collar set for another brand and adapt the plastic baseplate to accept it?
@@MakinSawdust Maybe. But they key would be to have it 100% centered. I have 3D printed a new base plate with integrated collar, but it is slightly off centre.
Love this idea! Do you think this could work with a Dremel? Or trim router?
Thanks for the video. I was wondering how you seal the plywood? Seems like it would'nt hold up to the weather.
I have been using a palm router with CNC bit as small as 1/16 and you can make them square tiny lines to get spooky teeth and I think that would actually be really cool thank you.
Thx
Good idea. A file could sharpen those corners pretty quickly.
Yes?
Love the video, this showed up in my news feed! Love the sweater are you in Wyoming?
Sandi at SuburbanHomesteaderWY sent me over... my name is Kevin too! Cool pumpkin of yours she painted!!!
Very cool! thanks for popping in!
Hi Kevin you need these for all the boys and your mom.
@@suburbanhomesteaderwy-az I know!
Nice video!!! Good tip on the pattern.
Do you think the same method would work if the router was in a router table?
I'm new to routing.
Yes, absolutely
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !!!!!!Um abraço do Brasil
Good
Wonder how making them out of 1/8" craft plywood would work? I have a diode laser that cuts really well!
Great idea using a router.
What would you sell them for?
ZOOM, ZOOM. 🎃🎃🎃
What size is your jackolantem height and width I love your work where did get your templates I will make the templates with a jigsaw and then play with the router I am going to use fence pickets which are 5 1/2 wide and 6 ft long what do you think thank bill
Great job. Bit? Dimensions of lanterns?
Seems like Dremel or similar with a router attachment would be easier to handle, the cutter wheel for corners.
That would work t[o
How much do you sell them for , great video....🇨🇦
Great idea! Thanks for the video. What platform do you sell these on? Seems like the market is pretty saturated with people selling these - do you have any tips on getting seen ahead of all that competition?
Was wondering the same thing and whats the price point for them?
I made a couple last year for personal use. Would like to do some to sale but can't find a smaller pattern the ones I had last year was from a pumpkin kit and are too wide to use on anything smaller like a cedar picket
Try copying the pattern then reducing the size on a copier or printer until you get the size you need.
Great tip! What kind of plywood are you using? Birch?
Just 3/8 regular plywood
What kind of wood are you useing thank bill
What do you use for the light
Very cool! I'm trying to cut faces in round 8-in diameter bamboo tubes any suggestions?
In my head I see a curved template plate that can be secured to the tube. I think you could use the same technique I used here
Amazing tip on how to use a router!!! How much do you charge for your pumpkins? Pricing is always my biggest problem.
$20 but that was last year when the plywood prices were a bit lower. I
sell them unfinished for that price. Most customers want to decorate themselves
@@MakinSawdust I just got back from 2 different Walmarts. Both were out of pumpkin orange. I probably need to branch out a bit and stock up when I find it!
I really like the variety of expressions on the punkins faces.
About your " Barnwood Wall Art"; are they a one size fits all or do you customize to customer specs?
Everything you do has the Midas touch! No, not the muffler!
Peace and Love, my frans. XOXOX
I build to the customers specs usually. If I have extra time or ideas, I will usually whip a stock item out and list it for sale. Many items are hard to replicate sometimes, but I do my best :)
Wishing you large amounts of orders just in time for Christmas gifts, my friend.
That collar is called a guide bushing.
You had me at “not a CNC”!!
Looking into making these this year. Yours is probably the best video as I also don't have a CNC or a scroll saw. I tried visiting the ETSY link for patterns but couldn't find it. Any chance you have these patterns available? TIA. BTW I subscribed to your channel already.
I've been thinking of making these for about 2 weeks now. I ordered some stencil templates from Amazon last week. I'm going to use them for a starting point to make the faces. Perhaps this will help you too if you haven't already found a template
@@andrewphillips1865 thanks for the info. Did you just search routing templates for pumpkins? TIA
No sir, I used a link to the stencils from another video in the comment section of that video. They should be listed on Amazon as Halloween Pumpkin Stencils. I believe they're 5.5"x5.5". I picked a pack of 20 or 30 different designs.
I USE A DREMMEL WITH A MULTI PURPOSE BIT !!!!
That works good too
How long did it take you to learn how to use this tool? Is it beginner friendly?
There are a lot of good beginner router videos on YT :) It is not hard, you sure need an understanding of operations. I plan to do more videos on beginner usage.
Do you use a jig saw to cut your faces out before useing the router thanks bill
You could
Would it work with a 1/8" straight bit, or would it be too hard on the bit? The smaller bit would tighten up the corners, if one wanted to do that. Thanks!
I'm guessing that it would be hard on the 1/8 bit. If you use it my suggestion is just take it slow. Using 1/3" plywood could cause bit deflection if you cut to fast
How long are they and wide
Thinner stock? Layer n cut multiple out at a time?
Yep
This video is 2 years old, so I'm late to another party, oh well. I have a question, that I hope isn't too stupid... Would it save time to free-hand the original faces, with your round bit? Then, when it's time to mass cut them, using the hand-routed faces as a guide, you can go to town. I'm just a curious kinda guy. Thanks!!
Thats a great idea
Go Wyo!
Could you elaborate on the collar? And bit or have a link?
More specifically called a bushing set. I may have mispoken in the video or been unclear. amzn.to/2ZF1qsq
Where did you get your 307 sweatshirt? I'm originally from Wyoming.
Somewhere in Gillette:)
What kind of wood do you use?
3/8" plywood
I'm a total newbie when it comes to routers, but wouldn't the bit being used just dig right through the template? Shouldn't it have a guide bearing on it, or are you just eyballing it and being careful?
That collar hits the template. The bit below the collar cuts out the new face.
Didn't notice the collar, thanks!
I was thinking Dremel
Ok
You said you sold about 25 of the lanterns. How did you sell them - word of mouth or existing clients?
Could you sell me plans?

I asked Joe Biden for funding to make my halloween decorations this year and he sent me 10 billion.
Unfortunately I could only afford 2 peices of wood now.
Great comments. B
and I wasted money on a cnc, thank you.
hahaha
That means you can cut faces and work on something else at the same time.
Code# 99_19069 on the constitution faces must be all same same.
So basically, you need to cut one with a jigsaw, scroll saw or CNC.
Jack AND lantern? lol
In all honesty, when carving a pumpkin 🎃 they are not sharp edges either.
