So good!! Nice twist on the pallet jack-o'-lanterns. I made a few this year out of reclaimed bamboo flooring, but none are quite as cool as these! Well done sir!
That's really cool. You might want to try painting a light color inside next time. It will help the light reflect better so you can see the features of the face
This is the best JO'L that I have seen anyone make. One suggestion, though, is if you do not want your drill bearings to go out, and start having problems with runout, then I suggest that you purchase a die grinder for the carving: electric or pneumatic. Just bear in mind that if you go pneumatic, you will need a compressor capable of providing enough air for the job, and it will be quite a substantial amount.
First video of yours I've seen. Thank you for not talking and playing music worthy of listening to. I've gotten to a point to where I mute all YT videos because people just talk too much. My brain needs to relax and this video achieved that. Great project and great video.
I wonder how it would look if you didn't cut the face out entirely, rather used a router bit to carve away most of the inside of the wood with the face design, then you could put an actually light bulb inside and the light might illuminate the face (because the wood will be a much thinner layer for the face). Also, it will be like a ghost face, cis when it's not lit, you won't even know there's a face carved inside!
@@HewAndAwe yea a swear the self titled dickhead over @dainermade has some kinda connection with the shipping folk and gets all the good pallets sent over there we get left with the shit pine ones or the red and blue ones. 👍🏴
@@michaelwillson6847 I had one that was spalted beech, but like you say 99% are shite pine, but also to wet to use indoors. I still can't work that out I had 4 pallets all been outside, the pine ones all at 22% moisture content and the beech one at 12% MC.
@@HewAndAwe well that's a new one never come across Spalted beech pallet before. Yea a can't figure things out with them or the other good one a get is get every single slat is different leghth width and thickness?🤔👍🏴
You've a great imagination Ben, superb job along with your filming and editing skills. You're thinking you've read this before lol. You have, I watched this video first on my mobile phone, then somehow commented on your other video lol. Anyway. Great work on your other video as well doing the mitre jig build. Tony
Holy shit, those are FANTASTIC! I’m totally stealing your idea and making one or two of my own. (At 0:34 into the video was a nice touch!😊) Love the cut of your jib, keep up the great work!
Hey Mate.! Got an idea I wanted to share with ya.! Use fishing line to hang these thinks on, and small shelf for the battery powered tea-lights, drill small hole 1 1/4" diameter, approximately 1/4"-1/2" depends on the thickness of the shelf material and you have floating, ghost, creepy, jack-o'-lanterns that appear to float. Okay, so, everytime I started watching this video, I get a phone call, or a text, or my wife needed something, I just only today got to watch the video up to the point of seeing installing a light into them.😎
Cheers Scott, hellraiser was my inspiration for these so the chain made sense. I was really hoping I could of got a bat shadow shone on the ground below them hanging but was a nightmare to achieve 🤦🏻♂️
@@HewAndAwe You should work making a 'bat-prototype'.😎 But, seriously, you should work on making a bat... I'm gonna "give-it-a-go!" This weekend, cause Monday's a holiday here in the States. I've got plenty of wood splinters in the ol'scrap/burn pile.
Amazing!!! I was wondering what to do with some old pallets… job done… was thinking about building some grave stones to properly scare the locals… but can’t work out how to finish them to get that stone effect so I think I’ll give these a go :-) didn’t like the bosses hanging baskets so perfect 😂😂

Much better than the generic ones everyone's been copying and selling 👌
Now come up with your own twist on it guy's, don't just copy it
Thank you for the complement mate! ...looks like they're already being copied :-/
I'm planing on making some of these but my twist will be adding a dry ice holder for fog and adding creepy voices of the damned.
Thanks to you for sharing your creative flair. Great reclaiming, simple construction, no needless chatter. 🎃💜
Thank you for the complement, much appreciated!

Thank you Zac, much appreciate the complement mate! Hope you're well and good!
I gotta try this! I think painting the inside orange would help when lighting them.
That’s why I painted the inside black, when the light was on you could see all the rough inside which didn’t look right imo.
@@HewAndAwe I meant that it would make it glow bright orange when lit, like an actual pumpkin.
Ok so I’m only 18 seconds into the video, but I had to pause just to come here and say that that skil saw intro was freaking awesome!
Thank you, that took days to do! I’ve since had to drop it to see if it affects my engagement time 😞
They look superb Ben. Great idea.
Thank you Derek - fingers crossed thye sell! Hope you had a nice weekend mate!!!
Thanks alot as if I didn't have enough projects already. I have to do this . Love it man.
Hey Russell! Thanks dude for the compliment, go mad, was a fun build cause you really dont have to give a shit the nastier they look the better 😂
These are great. Easily the best jack o lanterns I've seen. I am definitely taking some inspiration from these for one of my next builds.

mighty job as per usual chum

I did, it looked terrible you have to consider what they look like in the daylight too. 👍

Sounds good, I don’t imagine you’d get the wood thin enough mind you and the light would be to bright out the bottom imo.

Thanks for sharing, but instead of having a bat symbol in the bottom put a mirror at the bottom and it will reflect more light through those holes
That would kill a lot of light coming out the bottom though..

@scottbionicnerf8727 the hard part is getting a crisp shadow from the bat, it looks blurry with just a light and a bat plate in the way.
