Nice looking build. Researching a build for my 06 LJ and will look at Metal Cloak products. First time I had heard of that company. Thanks for sharing.
That's a great build. Wish you had a shop here in Virginia. Shops that understand lifted Jeep geometry or how to do an alignment on one are few and far between.
My faithful TJ is dying, the RMS Stargazer. For fifteen years she barely gave any trouble. 2020 hit and the radiator burst, soaking the belt in antifreeze which caused it to snap, destroy the fan and the clutch. On the tow home, a tyre was destroyed somehow. It was time to buy new tyres anyway. While down, I addressed the mild death rattle by replacing the ball joints, tie rod, and installed an adjustable track bar. The drag link got a new steering damper. A few weeks later, I installed an aluminum three row radiator, an electric fan, and an electric thromal switch for the fan. The old Jeep ran great once more. Then the synchronizes failed, little, by little, until they are gone by the end of 2020. But I learned to double clutch and dealt with it. Recently, the ECM failed. When it failed the system was flooded with 50 volts from the alternator and the battery swole up and was foaming when the engine powered out. She sits dormant now. So silent, so peaceful, so beautifully sad. Between needing a transmission, battery, anything that cooked under the 50 volts, and an ECM, I wonder if I should just retire my dear Stargazer to lawn ornament. I love her so much. I could never junk her. But she could remain beautiful as a ornament, while I find a life draining, bland, boring, soul sucking front wheel drive, four cylinder, automatic transmission, upside down soup bowl looking, car. I hate 2021. It makes 2020 look like one year of Christmas. I can not believe this year may be the end of our long journey together with my dear Stargazer. How do I retire a friend that has been true for fifteen years?
Dang! That was a sad read! I can't believe the luck you've had, very unfortunate my friend! If you're local or somewhat close, you could bring it on up and we could give it a look! We would hate to see you lose your long time beloved due to mechanical failure! What do you think?? We would hate to see it sit unused! There's gotta be options for you!
Love my TJ, unfortunately I don't like that I didn't do my research and overpayed for a full RC'd out wrangler. Definitely going to be cloaking it out as soon as I can.
I have always wondered about the durability and life of those rubber joints? I have a bunch of the Metl Cloak Body parts on my TJ. I love them and all the time get people commenting on how good it looks. They are wowed when I tell them it's not just for looks, it's armor. A testament to how tough the Metal Cloak parts are: a few years ago some moron cut me off on the freeway and jammed on their brakes. I hit the idiot and totaled their car, flipped my jeep on it's top. Thank god for hard tops!. The only body parts there were not damaged were the Metal Cloak parts. I wish they madea hood, front grill and windshield frame! If them would I would own them and they probably would have survived undamaged with only some scraping. In repairing the Jeep I now have a full Ultra 4 race cage attached directly to the frame. :-) I'm slowly turning it into a poor man's 4500 class car. The new engine (turbo 4.7 stroker from 505 performance is almost ready to drop in with the heavily modified AW-4 trans. I already have the T-case from a hummer with a solid 4140 shortened main shaft in it. Axles and drive shaft are all already built to support high HP. Every mishap in a Jeep is nothing more than an excuse to buy more Jeep parts. All of life's stresses are an excuse to buy more jeep parts. The wife getting mad at you is an excuse to buy more Jeep parts. The boss yelling at you or getting passed over at work is an excuse to buy more Jeep parts. EVerything is an excuse to upgrade and buy more Jeep parts !!!!!! Ignore all the "Mall Crawler" mods that you see all over the place that some city slicker drives around with on their Angry bird grill cover Jeep, LOL!!! Putting big tires and a winch on your new JL doesn't make it a trail rig. IT takes a lot more than big tires and a winch to make a rig. What you guys did in this video makes this Jeep a real trail rig. Too Many people never get the skid plates, never forget that stuff you WILL regret it later. True Jeeps are built not Bought!
would love to know the approx cost $$ for this project? I have an 02 TJ that I'm looking to do something similar to. Amazing job guys!! Lucky kid/owner!
It’s because some people don’t know what it takes to make a quality rig. Jeep = just empty every pocket. But I love my 1997 Gunmetal Pearl Tj Sport 5spd 4.0 full doors/hardtop. and would drop $20k easily into it if I could. And that’s just the beginning. Look at GenRight. You can drop 60 grand into a TJ if you wanted. I’m sitting on 33’s. Honestly feel like 35 and under is best for the platform. I like my rig to look proportioned though. It’s all badass
I have a TJ with a Ford 9 inch rear and exactly like that… I want to go from a short arm to long arm...You sure the bill but you don’t talk about how it handles or road characteristics ....
Great Job on this one. Very nice TJ!
Thanks Zach!
37's on an HP D30...good luck with that.
We see this Jeep for regular maintenance and annual inspection. It's doing fine!
That’s what I run on my TJ. With low pinion, chromolies, and truss you can wheel it for years

Did you end up choosing metalcloak ?
I have I6 5 SPEED 4.88 in my 98 on 37 love it

We have customers that have made the trek up from Virginia! If you're ever interested in making the drive!
I love all of it except that dana 30 in front matched with 37"tires 🤔
Great build!!
Thanks
All that work and left the old bumpers lol. Love that you paint matched the MetalCloak fenders though
The customer had some things he wanted to do himself!!
Shoot I'd love those bumpers
I love the flat black on frame. What product was used to paint it?
Nice build. I have the 4.5" rock sport lift and overline fenders. Have been very pleased with it.

I feel like the trailreadys that were on it would have been the better choice. Any reason for the switch to fuels?
Just customer choice!
fender flare width ? 6 inch ? all round ?

So how much did this cost please?
Nice build.
Thanks Erik!
What track bar bracket was welded on?
MetalCloak if I recall correctly!
What gas tank did yall put in the TJ?
Kept the stock one in! Just replaced the skid plate with a MetalCloak one!
How the hell it has New Zealand 4wd association sticker on the front bumper? 😳
This things been all over the place!!
wish i had the money to modify my
jeep like this..
Don't we all!
Dude put at least 10k if not more into it not including the Jeep lol
It's worth it to preserve something so important to their family!
My core G2s cost almost 10k lol
Rims & tires WAY to skinny. I can't believe you didn't upsize them.
long arms expose you to bending, IMO
