Spent the first 18 years of my life working on a family owned and operated farm. Best lesson learned was that I did not want to do this kind of work for the rest of my life. Hard on the body and at 60 you are worn out mentally from the multitude of issues related to running a family run farm. Happy to see that you and your family have survived in a very tough occupation. All the best.
It's really good to see your dad back at 100% after his surgery. I know he's been totally fine for a bit now, but I kinda just realized it when he was pulling that chain. Talk about being a "man's man." Lol. No whining or complaining, just right back to work and giving it his all. Good stuff, and great video as usual! Excited to see the new barn go up!
Nice looking mats and stall rails. The moo-moos should enjoy them. The pit is next?? Awesome. Construction is going to ramp up once it’s done. Take care & stay safe. Cheers
Can tell the cows approve of the new mats, so many of them lying down in the day after footage. That should make a (positive) difference in the milk production!
I just want to say, keep up the good work buddie. In my opinion, ur the perfect example of a top tier farming youtuber. Not some dude like tom pemberton farm life that ask for likes and subs even before the video starts, u and ur dad are doing great. hopefully me and my dad will be like u too in 10-15 years, I want to take over the farm too:)
Such a well organised and tidy farm. This is what 10 generations of the same trade breeds into you. I hope these medium sized, family owned farms, don't disappear in our constant search for cheaper produce. I buy what I can from local farmers. Easy for me in rural England, but the price of milk in this country is too cheap. Small farms are simply not profitable anymore here and it's criminal. A good farm does alot of land management, that isn't reflected in the price of their produce. Annoys me a great deal.
Thanks for the upload bud, I live next to minneapolis and enjoy relaxing to something more peaceful than the local news. Again, thanks. I grew up on a farm.
This is great cow comfort that you give your cows. Looks really great. Tomorrow is already Sunday for us, have a nice Sunday for you too, when he comes to your place.
Put in the easiflex mattresses my self this Christmas very happy with them so far we didn't change the cubicle itself but raised the whole thing up so that the neck bar is now 54inches above the mat c. 57 inches above the concrete bed . We only use a very light dusting off sawdust with lime cows more than happy.
Thanks again Eric and 9th gen Dad, i'm really enjoying all this recent content and I'm trying to watch all the ads so you get a little compensation for all the extra work besides the heavy farm work! if any of the crew reads this nice job with the new cow beds!
Thanks to all farmers. I never knew just how complicated it was to get products to my table. It makes banking look like a walk in the park. That's not true by half. It is a walk in the park. We need to wake up. Blessings from New Orleans.

Thank you for all your recent posts. We all know planting season is just around the corner and its difficult being the creator and the video editor to post frequently.
Smart move when you’re using that shovel to use your knee. When muck’n stalls back in the day, I could do that all day long.👍. And that was using a long handle not those short handles
I kinda like that they used Amish laborers to install your new stalls. They're hard workers and generally have a different perspective on just about everything, which to me made the Amish exceptionally interesting. Dealing with Amish was like going back in time without the time machine! I worked in the oil industry in Pennsylvania and rarely got to meet new Amish folks except at road side stands and occasionally at the Walmart. What's your opinion of working with the Amish Eric? I take it being your family has lived in Pennsylvania for least 10 (11 now) generations that part your family is probably Mennonite or descendant of some type of Quaker group. Which reminds me, aren't you glad you're able to use modern technology to milk your cows? Milking 200 cows twice a day would be labor intensive by hand!
Thanks for putting out daily videos must not be easy with all that goes on also love Dewalt tools I've used them my whole life definitely not cheap but well worth it in my opinion
give them the tools and pay them double time you wont have call them back to re do the work they missed, because they dont they look after themselves and others they come in contact with.
please tellMe you got breakfast before noon?! those are great boots you have & it looks like you & your dad did as much work as the team you brought in to do it! you are awesome...
Could you use some of the old conveyor belting across the front of the beds to cover over the 4 to 5 inch gap between the raised concrete header section and the beads to keep the shavings/manure/milk out of the that gap? Especially for periodic cow backing into her stall.
Eric you are a fine young man from a great family. Truly do enjoy the videos. Feel like I always learn something. I would be interested in what your milk buyer is like and how they price, grade, and process the raw milk. Maybe they only make chocolate milk!!!
LMAO, cows are dumb ass shit, also they are already used to their bedding arrangement so it makes perfect sense why they don't care that a slight change was made, they are used to laying on top of ridiculous amounts of dust
