Savannah later visits John to spend one last day together. But John is on leave in Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah has to go back to college. Over the course of two weeks, they have fallen in love. Before John leaves, they make a promise to continue their relationship via letters, and vow to tell each other everything.

What’s the Dear John movie about?
John Tyree (Channing Tatum from Step Up and The Eagle), an American Special Forces soldier, takes advantage of a leave in the USA to see his father and go surfing. Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried from Solstice and Mamma Mia!) is a student and they meet by chance on the beach. It's love at first sight between them, and although they belong to two different worlds, an absolute passion brings them together for two weeks. But John has to leave again and, following the September 11 attacks, he is sent to Afghanistan. As for Savannah, she must return to the University. For several months, John and Savannah write heated letters to each other. Savannah, more and more worried about the safety of her beloved, questions herself. As desires and responsibilities become more and more opposed, the couple struggles to maintain their commitments. Then, at the worst possible moment, John receives a letter of rupture without any other explanation. He is destroyed and does not understand what is happening to him. When he returns to America for his father's funeral, he sees Savannah again. This one got married. The young girl has not given in to a whim or to her family's orders: if, in John's absence, she has chosen to marry Tim (Henry Thomas from E.T.), whom she has known since childhood, it is because he is suffering from cancer and someone has to take care of his son Alan, an endearing child who is also autistic. Even though the end credits come before the denouement, we understand that after Tim's death, John and Savannah will be able to love each other and raise Alan together, respecting the memory of his father.

I love this movie up until when she left him. Literally why couldn’t they add at the end like them with their own kids and married in the future
they did..... they showed them meeting up at the end.
In the book she stayed with her sick husband and his autistic brother instead of going back to John. Despite him knowing she loves John and literally giving them his blessing, they still agreed to not get back together. So frustrating
Now that I’m older I realize that Savannah falling in love in just two weeks was a complete red flag 😂

God loves everyone as his kids that are made in his image and his undying love for us made him favor us among all his creation and he sent his only begotten son to come on earth and die for us, pay our debt which was death because of our sins. If he died to save all of us and gift us the gift of salvation so going to heaven is even possible. The least we can do is live for him meaning dying to ourselves and being born again, turning from our sins and choosing him above it all. God wants your heart all of it, as broken as it may be allow him in your life and watch him change it. If you saw people walk in a house that is about to burn you would warn them right, I am here to warn everyone that time is ticking and tomorrow is really not promised Jesus will come back for judgment take his obedient children with him and the rest will forever burn in hell imagine a world where there is no end. Where would you want to end up? Be blessed.

Oh god to much feelings by this one. I wanted her to call him but just like she said she couldn't cuss she knew that if she did she would've changed her mind. I dint think its fair to john but i just know that they got back togheter at the end of the movie. And she had to marry Tim so she could have save Allen for foster care (that he will never get there.) Im really thankfull she did that. But could they not get paper work or something so that she did not have to marry Tim. Like there could always be an other way i know its just a movie but im so mad about how they did things in the movies. I just imagine that he got back home they married and got Kids and got there deserved happy ending. They deserved it.
I think they did this for the reality of some people!!

Really you believe that he wasn't sick and ask this question why she didn't call him why did her husband told John it was his plan.why she didn't know about the money and coin why she didn't know about his father .and then at the end she got up and went to him . This movie her the great person what about John being shot nothing he had to go thought by himself

Sorry I was still typed hit wrong button Imran all the letters they wrote and them he went back in and he ask to help him to make a choice and said she couldn't and he was not in her class of people . Then she ask him why he came back and told father die . Please it a small town she didn't know that . Then told she call because she wouldn't get married so it was I just write letters tell I am sorry . Then in the letters could tell who she was married but he new . Then he went to the hospital met wife her husband and the first thing came out he mouth was this was my plan . Then you know he wasn't sick when they got married I mean it show it . Then she new about his father coin and right after John left they get money to bring him home . Wow it like the people care more about the two people instead of John. It got shot in the chest twice he didn't have anyone but that was ok . Then she want him to say see you soon wow she was married then after her husband die she right him a letters tell it ben 5 years sent she wrote a letter and it his dear John letters. And what me the most get out for leave or something and he was locking his bike she come up put there arm each other after all . Wow now I did like the movie just you he fight in a war and if you remember he got out when she want to he would ben call anyway because they was doing that at the time of the war .so just thought the movie add his stuff to

No, she broke up with him to marry a family friend that she didn't love btw, because he had cancer & was dying so needed full time care. Also his autistic son would have been left alone without him and so she sacrificed her happiness to be his mother as well, it was really kind of selfless.
