It sure does! But nonetheless, replacement was unfortunately due - but worked out quite well, as I am really loving the new tone after some initial scepticism!
@@PippPriss it's pretty different than the V 30 and it's not going through my big cab so they sound a bit small. In the room though, very big sounding.
Just my opinion, and obviously only listening through UA-cam, so caveats apply, but those “broken” V30s have a much more pleasant top end than the functioning ones. If you do capture them, blending them in with other speakers in your DAW might yield a cool sound.
On louder volume, that is actually very true. Only on lower volume the tone completely falls together like a house of cards, which it didn't do before. Super weird, how the speaker is reacting to this short-lived overload. I could imagine together with the G12 Vintage they'd pair greatly. They definitely will not see a trash bin anytime soon, or actually ever. I was thinking about trying to recone them, but I lack the skills and knowledge. I am thinking about looking for a small shop to do that and just experiment with that.
@@PippPriss "Yeah, at louder volumes that definitely being the case. Lower volumes, the defect becomes more apparent. And they still smell finicky and burnt" Actually reminds me of singing when your voice is fried... You can kind of "force" through it with volume and make it sound ok-ish, but as soon as you do anything quiet/soft, it's a disaster and you can immediately tell.
Haha, I doubt it! 😀They unfortunately sound super flat and lifeless at lower volumes. At louder volumes, they actually are not bad at all, as you could hear.
The other John is an awesome dude. So friendly and helpful.
THE best! As I pointed out, to me he is the ACTUAL John Browne! 🙂
GREAT video! Way to turn an unfortunate mistake into an interesting video! Thanks for the shoutouts too!
for a "broken" speaker, it sounds damn good! :)

Great hearing the comparisons here dude. G12 Vintage sounds great.
Thanks! I gotta check out your V-Type video, I was thinking about getting one to mix&match and you just read my mind apparently!

That's how you're not supposed to break them in 😂😂😂
The sound is kinda cool though!
Haha, apparently there are no shortcuts! Really sound good indeed!

The broken ones have their own sound. Not necessarily a bad sound.
Yeah - that's what I was about to point out.
Yeah, at louder volumes that definitely being the case. Lower volumes, the defect becomes more apparent. And they still smell finicky and burnt 😀

G12 ftw I had an amazing marshall 412 av which I shouldhave never sold
I love G12 Vintages at all times as well... Awesome speakers!
the v30s to me have a lil top end fizz the the g12s have low end and more mids
Yeah, pretty much that. On lower volumes, the "broken effect" comes way more to "shine".
I guess the cones were actually crying 😭🔇
Those cones were surely crying for their life :-D
Maybe its more accurate to call it a damaged speaker not a broken speaker. It still works but not how it should
Right on the money. I just thought about that wording like an hour ago ;-)
They're not broken - just broken in 😆

With 600 watts. You should be able to push 4x412 cabs no problem...
Yup... but guess what, that burden was laid upon only a single 2x12 :-) Those poor bastards!
