I have regrinded Haru line for 57&58th time last week so I have 21p comanders on Akizuki & Kitakaze both with radio location , and I have sunk several Jägers in past 2 weeks 🤗
even with dd support it's really hard to deal with cause it's tied for best concealment in the game, other than subs. it's also pretty fast, so it's hard to catch them. when you try to chase them you get torped.
Another thing about the Jager a lot of people don't think about is the psychological impact. If you're on a flank where you can out spot everyone else, most players run from it. Even DD players tend to be weary of chasing it down. When I play mine, sometimes I'll let myself be lit briefly on purpose so the enemy team knows a Jager is on their flank. 9 times out of 10, they'll immediately turn around and start running. A risky strategy but it works pretty often. This allows me to map control, or cap control more like, without even using torps. It's truly a menace to deal with if left alone to run amock against your team. A definite high priority kill, in my opinion.
This is my favorite ship in the game. I love the stealthy play style and I feel that the Jager is more consistent than other torp DDs because it can spam much more reliable low damage torps and getblots of hits rather than relying on high damage, but slow reload and easy to dodge torps. This ship has farmed me SO many credits and free xp.
Hey Potato: get the Halland research mod. 42.3 knots in a Halland is incredible, it accelerates like a UK ship and at those speeds it's not rudder lethargic. You also basically get a super heal, it fits in slot 6 so you don't lose its low detect, you lose the slot 6 torp reload BUT you also get an additional consumable SOOO I take the commander torp reload instead of superintendent and thereby only lose 5% torp reload for the above attributes. SOOO worth the trade! I don't need 5 super heals nor do I need five (still 2-minute duration) super engine boosts. Not only does it heal more but I've yet to take "any" un-healable damage. Halland "reprints itself" with this mod. If you don't have this for your Halland you are missing out Big time!
Not worth the dpm loss. You always run torp reload skill on Haland cpts anyway, so it's a very "meh" mod. If you got all the RB ships you want AND all the better RB mods, sure - why not? But it's a side grade at best.

@@lucidnonsense942 Halland and other ships in the line are my most played ships, and the line is really not one that relies on torpedo dpm at all, so I barely notice the loss. It allows you to play a LOT more aggressively even against radars, makes it much easier to win vs meta gunboat DDs, and a lot less risky lighting perma fires after someone damage controls torp flooding.

I got my first high tier kraken in ages in Jager the other day, around 185k damage, I slipped behind the enemy lines and ran at maximum speed causing havoc, survived that one.
The problem it has is if a CV is in the match and takes the time to spot you, you have no AA and no Smoke and if the other team pays attention you are a sitting duck.
The prototype ship being of WW1 vintage and the amount of smoke that escapes it's stacks, the term 'coal destroyer' may mean things you did not intend. A tier nine Tachibana? It is always great for MM to give you opponents who cruise in straight lines.
From my experience blaying BB's, the dpm of the torps does not matter. What matters is that there are torps in the water in general. You just don't want to get hit by torps, period. So the more often torps are launched, the more demoralized I feel.
While Jerzy with reload is GOATed, Sa Zhengbing on Jinan with repeat Speed procs is even funnier. Ur Jinan videos convinced me to get it and its my favorite cruiser in WoWs.

I am a regular jäger player, this ship is not for DPM or kills. It is a map control and spotting king. If i can’t get in the cap, i can keep the enemy team off it, especially if they dont have any RPF. The sheer volume of torps keeps most opponents waiting outside caps, or slow rolling. And of course, you are keeping them all spotted for your team. If you get a surprise dd around a corner, your fast torpedoes can easily kill them before they can gun you down. Not unbeatable though, if your team is full of potatoes you are gonna be frustrated.
I think an important thing to count into this ship's seemingly lackluster torp DPM is the fact that you have that special commander who improves it a ton, other ships don't have that
@@metalogic1580 I guess you have a point, although I feel like what PQ said - this commander and dd are almost made for each other. And you get that 5% multiple times so it adds up
Fun and enjoyable boat. Although in terms of pure effectiveness, if torpedo boat is your idea of fun, one could argue that Benham or Minegumo could be a better choice.

jager is probably my favorite dd in the game. whenever I am on a losing streak I just play it and can usually carry, I average about 130k in it and it is my go to credit maker.
This thing really puts me in mind of something like the ELC Even 90 in WOT. Unbelievably stealthy and immensely frustrating to play against if your not able to counter
it's good to finish torps combat missions but in randoms its success is very situational (depends heavily on who survived till middle-late game in the enemy team) and usually doesn't have real influence on which team wins.
I got this one from a super container earlier this year. I don't think I've ever been focused as much as when I've played it... Don't get spotted in it...
Just wait a moth for the anniversary event and there you will get lots of coal form the Supercontainers. 🎉 Used to be a little coal for each tier 5-7 ships though, so might actually be worse.
It is a meme boat and hilarious to play but entirely dependent on MM. Radar dds own it. I would always recommend getting the Black first as the Black can handle just about any MM thrown at it. And, the Black just murders a ship like the Jager. I don't own Jager but it is my next pick up due to the fun factor.
I think you misunderstand Jäger. I have over 1100 games in it. It gets very little damage from floods. It has the lowest flood chance per torpedo of any at T8+ (119%). The vast majority of my damage is alpha. The key to doing well in Jäger is first speed, 95knots is critical, then understanding the shots she can make and stacking or spreading your torps optimally.
They could have released any other ship than this one (Odin, Daisen, Karl Johan), but they chose Jäger, the cancer DD… so now you will have a jäger in every game
Its been good eating lately for CVs since the recent uptick in Jagers. If theres one or more on the enemy team you can just perma spot them until they die or run to the back of the map. Being able to instantly neutralize a dd on a flank is hilarious.
I swear Asia server is a different game. Wheres the kearsarge, delaware and CV hounding that always follows a jager? And these BBs just sail broadside for so long instead of kiting away like they always do in my games lol

A cruiser would have been just as screwed and had just as few options because it still has to get stupidly close to you while in open water and you'd basically have to LET them do that. I know this isn't a popular take, but more ships need radar. Just the same as more ships need sub surveillance, more ships and lines could really do with having radar. Even short range radars could make a huge difference. Imagine if that Izumo had a 40 second 9km radar. You would have had to play from much farther back to remain safe from the potential radar, and that would have lead to you being far less oppressive. Sure that might put the American CLs out of a job, but lets be real, they could really use having their radar range nerf undone because 9km is really just not enough range for a radar on a Cruiser at T9/10/11. Cleveland can keep her 9km radar though, it's basically a stealth radar already. Or alternatively they could give all the American CLs the ability to stealth radar with their 9km radars. That would be just as good.
Now that there's so many of these around I find them profoundly unfun to play against, if your DD isn't helping enough then it's just as bad, if not worse than playing against a sub

The last 3 Jagers I had in my teams died at the start when they charged into the caps head on. Too many bad players in this game - People keep spending money and buying ships but put no effort to learn how to play properly.
I bought her a little over a week ago, and only played three games with it I find it a disappointing boat because fighting other DDs is problematic fight over cap is almost impossible against other DDs. the boat has too little firepower from the guns, no smoke screen to escape like in one of those games I had a darring against me, there was nothing I could do against him
Your complain is the same as if you'd be complaining that you can't brawl in your Conqueror.... like, ok, but that's not how you should play it? You outspot the Daring. So keep him spotted while shooting torps to bigger ship and let your team deal with him.

Modstation is kinda lame now, from what I can tell PQ is using Aslain modpack. I started using it as well and there are so many more mods to choose from, including navigator. You can find it easily on Google and it's allowed by WG so don't worry

well there is little counter play against something like a jager one on one if you play in a BB. but if you are in a DD counter play very possible. at the end of the day it's a team game
i've been on the receiving end of a 3 Jager meme division just now. Without proper dd support or radar, those little pricks are nightmare to deal with

Fun DD. Except when the flying fun police is around. Swirsky is almost a must to have on it.

Nah that shouldn't be counted in. Most people don't have that commander so taking him into account isn't fair. Also, -5% reload time isn't "a ton"

I never really get bothered by getting spotted early. I actually like it to activate my AR capt skill.
I once had a game in my Jäger doing 87k damage and 263k spotting damage. Jäger is not about doing alotta damage, it's about sending a message.
