Invasion would be second troughton was truly up there as one of the best doctors. Tenth planet was good too maybe fourth for me, earth shock does have that dark edge so I would put that third. I do also like the moon base story but would have revenge of the cybermen on my list. Tom baker was a truly amazing doctor and it made this work well, especially as this story followed on directly from Genesis of the daleks. It was from his first series where four stories were bases around a space station, the first one was a one off creature called the wirrin , then there were the sontarans in a two parter, then Genesis and then revenge. With the robot story to start this was for me by far the greatest doctor who series.
Earthshock was a great story for me too. I did like in Revenge Of The Cybermen that they had their guns built into their helmet. In Attack Of The Cyberman the only thing I liked was how the Doctor was trying to repair the chameleon circuit and got it working somewhat to make the Tardis stand out like a sore thumb. I would say that Earthshock is the best story of the Cyberman. Silver Nemesis was too far fetched for me to believe that only the Cyberman would be the only enemy of the Doctor after it, or that something like that would be traced back to a Lady Panefort who can time travel from 200 years ago.

I agree with your pick of Earthshock. Also loved the Invasion, not just for the Cybermen, but you also get the prototype for U.N.I.T. with the Brigadier in this episode. The Five Doctors has a great appearance by the Cybermen and are easily defeated by a Raston warrior. I hated to see them defeated, but the Raston Warrior was pretty cool! Also, it is Jon Pertwee's only on film interaction with the Cybermen as it never happened in his run. Unless you count a brief(blink and you'll miss it) cameo in Carnival of Monsters.

Not counting those two, my top 3 are definitely, in no order: Tomb of the Cybermen Earthshock World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls The Invasion is probably one of the other two, but I'm not sure about the last. Something in me wants to say Attack of the Cybermen because I like the 6th Doctor and Peri, and I actually think the rotund Cyber Controller is awesome. great video 👍 Mine are the same as your but in different order ; 5. Rise of the Cybermen / The Age of Steel 4. The Tenth Planet 3. Earthshock 2. Tomb of the Cybermen 1. The Invasion
I think for me it'd be 1. Earthshock 2. Attack of the Cybermen (really ballsy to put blood in a Doctor Who story phwoar! XD) 3. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 4. The Invasion 5. Silver Nemesis (sure it looks crummy, has the Cybermen straight up killed by Gold and it shows it was filmed after "Greatest Show in the Galaxy", but Sophie Aldred fighting Cybermen with a Slingshot is almost on par with her beating up a Dalek with a baseball bat) I think an honourable mention in mine would be "The Five Doctors" as the second best Master (the first being Delgado of course) became the first Master to team up with the Cybermen.
Great choices. The more videos I watch the more apparent it is we have VERY similar tastes in the Doctors best adventures. Basically the same list as mine here!
Wingy Media my list is my own 🤣 I’m not a massive Davison fan anyway and I’m not overly keen of that cyberman costume as much and as I think it’s a cracking story I just wasn’t invested in it like the others
I could actually go with the same list as yours but include Attack of the Cybermen somewhere and change places between the invasion and earth shock. And my favourite design is the invasion one!
A cool list, mine is a little different but kinda similar. I should put the 5 Doctors on here as I love the story, but I feel that, as an anniversary special, it shouldn't make a top five style list. My list would be 5 Attack of the Cybermen 4 The Next Doctor 3 The Invasion 2 Earthshock 1 Tomb of the Cybermen
My list: 5) Nightmare in Silver (Guilty pleasure for me, also I haven't seen many classic era stories, let's see, with the Cybermen I've seen The Tenth Planet and The Five Doctors, which doesn't count.) 4) Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 3) Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel 2) World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls 1) The Tenth Planet
My List: 10. The Next Doctor 9. Attack of the Cybermen 8. Tomb of the Cybermen 7. Earthshock 6. The Moonbase 5. Dark Water 4. The Age of Steel 3. The Tenth Planet 2. World Enough and Time 1. The Invasion
Stories: 1. Tomb of the Cybermen 2. Tenth Planet 3. Earthshock 4. Moonbase/Invasion 5. Rise of Cybermen/Age Of Steel Honor mention: Closing Time, I actually don't mind it as much as everyone else Design: The ones from Moonbase and Tomb, I just think look the creepiest, with those blank metal faces and tubes coming out their chestplates. These are MY Cybermen
I liked the original Cybermen design (who are not at all monotone, rather having a weird sing-song voice) more than the Cybermen from "Tomb of the Cybermen" who look like they had their faces drawn on by Sharpie markers
5 Earthshock 4 Tomb 3 Moonbase 2 Invasion 1 THE WHEEL IN SPACE (possibly the best Dr who story ever). Unfortunately I can't prove it because the majority is missing, but you can't disprove it either. The two surviving episodes and the soundtrack don't do it justice at all. This is the most nerve wracking edge of the seat masterpiece in Dr Who history, because you never know when a Cybermen is going to come out of nowhere and kill someone - which happens quite frequently. This is the lost Dr Who story which MUST be found.
Good list. Absolutely agree that World Enough and Time plus The Doctor Falls could have been AWESOME, but again you know who choked. 1) Earthshock 2) Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel (despite all the stomping around) 3) Revenge of the Cybermen (my first Cybermen story and it's Tom Baker!) 4) The Invasion 5) Tomb of the Cybermen (that music as they exit their pods) Honourable Mention: The Five Doctors, the only time the Third Doctor took them on. Design: 1) Earthshock, 2) Invasion/Revenge of the Cybermen, & 3) New Who -however all that stomping drives me nuts.
IMO the Cybermen in the Invasion are not portrayed very well and also they have little dialogue and also the story is too darned long at 8 parts and this story was originally meant to be broadcast in 6 parts which would have done the Invasion more trade in billions of ways or had the Invasion been broadcast according to another story in 4 parts like Tenth Planet the Moonbase Tomb of the Cybermen and later Revenge of the Cybermen and also Earthshock would have been billions of times better
5. World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls (I do think "The Doctor Falls" is Moffat's best "Second part" when it comes to his 2 part finales, even with its problems) 4. The Tenth Planet 3. The Moonbase 2. Spare Parts 1. The Reaping
1. The Invasion 2. Earthshock 3. World Enough and Time 4. The Tomb of the Cybermen 5. Attack of the Cybermen -> If I included Big Finish then Legend of the Cybermen would definitely be up there. -> Best design for me has actually gotta be Wheel In Space, most streamlined 60s look.
I totally agree with you but I wouldn't add that attack of the Cybermen is one of my favorites too yes I know people criticize about that Colin Baker is at his best and that's great and you have David Banks as the Cyber leader and the Cyber controller a nerve shock of the others you've mentioned are really good
5 - Tomb 4 - 10th 3 - RotC/AoS 2 - Earthshock 1 - Invasion So the same episodes in a slightly different order for me. Earthshock was the first classic Who story I ever saw, and as you say its just a fucking lit episode, and I'm actually nearly finished my Cyberleader costume which I hope to bring to a few comic cons this year. HOWEVER. Tobias. Fucking. VAUGHN!!!!! ***Spoilers below*** That scene when he slaps the Professor in the face and makes him shoot him in the chest and then LAUGHS IT OFF god its one of the BEST scenes from Doctor Who's history. The music as you say is absolutely stunning, I actually got the soundtrack on vinyl for Christmas and I've been playing 'muzak' over and over for two whole months..
1. The Tomb of the Cybermen 2. Earthshock 3. The Invasion 4. The Moonbase 5. The Tenth Planet In terms of my favourite Cyberman design, I would have to go with the original version from ‘The Tenth Planet.’ Although I really do like the 1980’s Cybermen and the ones from ‘The Moonbase’ and ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen,’ there is just something about that original design which is genuinely creepy, disturbing and threatening. Plus, you truly do believe that these creatures were human beings once, and this is extrapolated further through stories such as ‘Spare Parts.’ Furthermore, because they are the originals, there is something quite primitive and vulnerable about those Cybermen, which I love. Great video as ever, Wingy. Could you please do a Top 5 Favourite Dalek Stories video too?
Life Upgrade This is a little thing called an OPINION. Maybe you didn’t learn about it in school. Plus, if you haven’t seen Wingy’s video telling people like yourself to have some respect for the opinions of others, it might be worth giving it a watch. @@bradleywillard2361 World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls would be one. Timescales agrees with an overwhelming majority, even Peter Capaldi haters agree that it is the best cyber man story and IMDB agrees too. And Timescales closely correlates to the rankings of DWM therefore the DWM poll would agree too. Rise of the Cybermen was a bad episode and does not even touch World Enough and time.
Life Upgrade I would agree that ‘World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls’ is better than ‘Rise of the Cybermen/ The Age of Steel,’ but I still like both of them as stories.

3:revenge of the cybermen
2:closing time
1:sliver nightmare
*Nightmare in Silver
I love dark water death in heaven
great video 👍
Mine are the same as your but in different order ;
5. Rise of the Cybermen / The Age of Steel
4. The Tenth Planet
3. Earthshock
2. Tomb of the Cybermen
1. The Invasion
Hey thanks man, I love your UA-cam vids.
I love your list and I agree with those Cybermen episodes and they’re also my favourite villains from Doctor Who 🤖
My faves are:
5. The Wheel in Space
4. Tomb of the Cybermen
3. The Invasion
2. The Tenth Planet
1. The Moonbase
I'm so glad the 10th planet is included
I think for me it'd be
1. Earthshock
2. Attack of the Cybermen (really ballsy to put blood in a Doctor Who story phwoar! XD)
3. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
4. The Invasion
5. Silver Nemesis (sure it looks crummy, has the Cybermen straight up killed by Gold and it shows it was filmed after "Greatest Show in the Galaxy", but Sophie Aldred fighting Cybermen with a Slingshot is almost on par with her beating up a Dalek with a baseball bat)
I think an honourable mention in mine would be "The Five Doctors" as the second best Master (the first being Delgado of course) became the first Master to team up with the Cybermen.
Fantastic Video! Always funny and engaging
Great choices. The more videos I watch the more apparent it is we have VERY similar tastes in the Doctors best adventures. Basically the same list as mine here!
Looking forward to more top 5's
Lovely ranking.
Top video, Wingy! Much respect. ❤️
My favourite dish would be...
5.Earthshock
4.Tenth Planet
3.World Enough in Time
2.The Moonbase
1.The Invasion
Ah but would World Enough & Time be in your top 5 if you had to include The Doctor Falls too? ;)
Wingy Media yes because World Enough in time is good enough to carry the second part
@@TwinHat Really?! And ahead of Earthshock?! I'm going to be having words with your sister 😂
Wingy Media my list is my own 🤣 I’m not a massive Davison fan anyway and I’m not overly keen of that cyberman costume as much and as I think it’s a cracking story I just wasn’t invested in it like the others
@wingy media what did you think of weel in space
Looking forward to this series. I hope for a top 5 least favorite of the cybermen too.
I could actually go with the same list as yours but include Attack of the Cybermen somewhere and change places between the invasion and earth shock.
And my favourite design is the invasion one!
5. Earthshock
4. Rise of the cybermen/age of steel
3. The haunting of villa Diodati
2. The tomb of the cybermen
1. The invasion
A cool list, mine is a little different but kinda similar. I should put the 5 Doctors on here as I love the story, but I feel that, as an anniversary special, it shouldn't make a top five style list. My list would be
5 Attack of the Cybermen
4 The Next Doctor
3 The Invasion
2 Earthshock
1 Tomb of the Cybermen
My list:
5) Nightmare in Silver (Guilty pleasure for me, also I haven't seen many classic era stories, let's see, with the Cybermen I've seen The Tenth Planet and The Five Doctors, which doesn't count.)
4) Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
3) Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel
2) World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
1) The Tenth Planet
The only thing I remember from Tomb of the Cybermen was the doctor commenting on Jamie's "skirt" and it made me laugh so hard
My List:
10. The Next Doctor
9. Attack of the Cybermen
8. Tomb of the Cybermen
7. Earthshock
6. The Moonbase
5. Dark Water
4. The Age of Steel
3. The Tenth Planet
2. World Enough and Time
1. The Invasion
Love your input...
RIP Richard Gregory, who redesigned the Cybermen for Earthshock.
Check out the under rated graphic novel "Assimilation 2" where the Cybermen form a partnership with the Borg! (Yes, from that other series!)
Stories:
1. Tomb of the Cybermen
2. Tenth Planet
3. Earthshock
4. Moonbase/Invasion
5. Rise of Cybermen/Age Of Steel
Honor mention: Closing Time, I actually don't mind it as much as everyone else
Design: The ones from Moonbase and Tomb, I just think look the creepiest, with those blank metal faces and tubes coming out their chestplates. These are MY Cybermen
I liked the original Cybermen design (who are not at all monotone, rather having a weird sing-song voice) more than the Cybermen from "Tomb of the Cybermen" who look like they had their faces drawn on by Sharpie markers
5 Earthshock
4 Tomb
3 Moonbase
2 Invasion
1 THE WHEEL IN SPACE (possibly the best Dr who story ever).
Where the fuck is World Enough and Time?
1. Closing Time
2. Closing Time
3. Closing Time
4. Closing Time
5. Everything else
I like your choices
Charlie Dawson Eww
You're so hilarious Dawson.
If I was to rank my favourite Cyberman stories I think it would look quite similar to this. Some good choices on here.
Good list. Absolutely agree that World Enough and Time plus The Doctor Falls could have been AWESOME, but again you know who choked.
1) Earthshock
2) Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel (despite all the stomping around)
3) Revenge of the Cybermen (my first Cybermen story and it's Tom Baker!)
4) The Invasion
5) Tomb of the Cybermen (that music as they exit their pods)
Honourable Mention: The Five Doctors, the only time the Third Doctor took them on.
Design: 1) Earthshock, 2) Invasion/Revenge of the Cybermen, & 3) New Who -however all that stomping drives me nuts.
The rise of the Cybermen at 2, World Enough and Time not on this list. You are seriously fucked up.
@@chriszone50 not everyone has to agree with you
IMO the Cybermen in the Invasion are not portrayed very well and also they have little dialogue and also the story is too darned long at 8 parts and this story was originally meant to be broadcast in 6 parts which would have done the Invasion more trade in billions of ways or had the Invasion been broadcast according to another story in 4 parts like Tenth Planet the Moonbase Tomb of the Cybermen and later Revenge of the Cybermen and also Earthshock would have been billions of times better
5. World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls (I do think "The Doctor Falls" is Moffat's best "Second part" when it comes to his 2 part finales, even with its problems)
4. The Tenth Planet
3. The Moonbase
2. Spare Parts
1. The Reaping
Oh common, even new who haters have enough common sense to know World Enough and Time is the best.
What is "The Reaping"? Is that a big finish story?
1. The Invasion
2. Earthshock
3. World Enough and Time
4. The Tomb of the Cybermen
5. Attack of the Cybermen
-> If I included Big Finish then Legend of the Cybermen would definitely be up there.
-> Best design for me has actually gotta be Wheel In Space, most streamlined 60s look.
The Invasion wasn't as good as Tomb of the Cybermen.
I totally agree with you but I wouldn't add that attack of the Cybermen is one of my favorites too yes I know people criticize about that Colin Baker is at his best and that's great and you have David Banks as the Cyber leader and the Cyber controller a nerve shock of the others you've mentioned are really good
Excellent
5 - Tomb
4 - 10th
3 - RotC/AoS
2 - Earthshock
1 - Invasion
So the same episodes in a slightly different order for me.
Earthshock was the first classic Who story I ever saw, and as you say its just a fucking lit episode, and I'm actually nearly finished my Cyberleader costume which I hope to bring to a few comic cons this year.
HOWEVER.
Tobias. Fucking. VAUGHN!!!!!
***Spoilers below***
That scene when he slaps the Professor in the face and makes him shoot him in the chest and then LAUGHS IT OFF god its one of the BEST scenes from Doctor Who's history.
The music as you say is absolutely stunning, I actually got the soundtrack on vinyl for Christmas and I've been playing 'muzak' over and over for two whole months..
1. The Tomb of the Cybermen
2. Earthshock
3. The Invasion
4. The Moonbase
5. The Tenth Planet
In terms of my favourite Cyberman design, I would have to go with the original version from ‘The Tenth Planet.’ Although I really do like the 1980’s Cybermen and the ones from ‘The Moonbase’ and ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen,’ there is just something about that original design which is genuinely creepy, disturbing and threatening.
Where the absolute fuck is World Enough and Time you deranged idiot.
Life Upgrade This is a little thing called an OPINION. Maybe you didn’t learn about it in school. Plus, if you haven’t seen Wingy’s video telling people like yourself to have some respect for the opinions of others, it might be worth giving it a watch. And just for your information, ‘World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls’ would be number 6.
Can't wait for the top 5 13th Doctor stories...
My list:
Rise of the Cybermen
The Invasion
Tomb of the Cybermen
Earthshock
World Enough and Time (not counting The Doctor Falls)
1. World Enough and time/The Doctor Falls
2. EarthShock
3. The Invasion
4. Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of steel
5. Attack of the Cybermen
surprised not seeing moonbase its my favourite one :) would so love for them to find the missing episodes of that story, or any story i guess
I haven't seen enough Cyberman stories to make a top 5. But if I were to rank the ones I have seen, it would be:
9. The Next Doctor (purely because I remember nothing about it)
8. Nightmare in Silver
7. Closing Time
6. Revenge of the Cybermen
5. Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel
4. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
3. Dark Water/Death in Heaven
2. Earthshock
1. World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
Earthshock is a better cyberman story than the series 10 finale, but as an overall story I prefer the finale.
Rather ironic ref The Invasion and the 3rd Doctor never faced them in his tenure (I think they gave Jon the Cybermen in the 20th to make up for it lol)
My favourite Cybermen are the 60s and the 80s the Cybermen in the Revenge of the Cybermen were terrible
Great list. However I want to know what Ur thoughts on the moonbase and the wheel in space are
1) World Enough and Time/ the Doctor Falls (Yes part 2 as well!)
2) Spare Parts
3) Human Resources
4) The Invasion
5) Earthshock
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL TV CYBERMAN STORY RANKING IN AGREEMENT BY DWM, TIMESCALES AND IMDB
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls
Spare parts would be here, 2nd place
2.Tomb of the Cybermen
3.Earthshock
4.The Invasion
5.The Tenth Planet
*THIS IS THE CORRECT ACCURATE RANKING
@@TechRefreshed1000 It's still only opinion and there's no need to shout.
My list:
5.wheel in space
4. The doctor falls
3. Invasion
2. The tenth planet
1. Tomb of the cyberman
I haven't actually seen earthshock yet so that's why it's not on the list
Controversial but I really like nightmare in silver ignoring the children
