They are all definitely great prog bassists. But the most underrated prog bassist would be Mike Rutherford. He never gets the credit he deserves from his prog work.
+GenesisFan01 You are very correct, my friend. Rutherford is very underrated. Perhaps this is partly due to the Peter Gabriel era Genesis's lack of the broader type of "commercial success" enjoyed by say, Yes, ELP, Cream and The Who in the late sixties and early seventies. As I said, Rutherford was/is great, as were Genesis up until say, 1977, but there's also a very strong case to be made that the MOST underrated rock bassist is Jon Camp of the equally underrated Renaissance (with the great Annie Haslam, of course).
What an amazing musician he was, also a great story teller. How many modern bands have a member as enigmatic and down to earth? A true one off, sadly missed 😔
When I was a teenager back in the seventies Yes , and ELP were the two most bands closest to my passion . I couldn't wait for their next releases , and back then all we had for information was magazines with shoddy information , so each new album was in a true sense was a surprise to listen too . This story so warms the heart , thanks you .
richard Hines Twas the coming of times was lucky enough to see both bands in concert in mid 70’s in Toledo usually had to travel to Cleveland or Detroit to catch good bands, memories never forgot and vinyl that still has good groves in it! Peace out and rock on.
One Legend speaking on Love for another Great Legend....we ALL were so Blessed to be around when BOTH Groups were sharing their Magic with their Fans! Cheers Everyone
@@robonoskiRST All respect to you but I met CS and I wouldn't characterize him as a great human (this from an ardent fan of his - up until that point).
Chris Squire, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake,Brian "Blinky" Davison(The Nice),John Wetton.Musical giants who may no longer walk the earth, but are making beautiful music in Heaven.
Terrific story.. thanks, Greg ... have been a fan of both bands for many years.. the recent death of Chris is devastating .. he was one of my favorites!
I thought he was gonna say "to compete with that we got three private jets, one with a sticker saying 'emerson', one with a sticker saying 'lake'..." need I go on?
Two bass men, that would be cool to hear if they jammed much and shared ideas "Maybe" "Definitely Maybe?" I always wanted to know if their was a tribute to Yes called "No" "Maybe so?" That's a great story
Greg's a very good story-teller. The story is quite funny but I bet Yes weren't amused after take-off. Yes are a great group , I've got (my father , actually) most of their LP. Chris Squire is greatly missed.
I do remember Emerson and Wakeman sniping each other in the press with snarky comments about looks, abilities etc., but in later years I saw pictures of them looking like quite good friends. All in good fun I guess...
Great story - I was just watching a video yesterday of Jon & Tony on the 90125 tour listening to the previous night’s performance on a chartered flight, and I was thinking about how risky it is touring - to think we could have lost Chris & the boys over a Yes decal…
R.I.P. the three best bass players England graced our presence with ! Wetton Squire and Lake
And Entwistle and Bruce.
Definitely

And Jack Bruce
Rest in Peace to both Chris Squire and Greg Lake. My two greatest inflences.
My play list in the early 70's was Yes and ELP.
oh hell, their still my play list!
Greg Lake and Chris Squire... ugh both gone too soon for my liking. And Keith Emerson as well! Love Greg's charm here. Something nice to remember.
"One sticker - and one engine - left." Love that.

Were you ever a fan of Genesis??
Greg Lake... what a true gentleman indeed.
So amazing. We all eventually leave our lives but this man and many others made it so enjoyable. Bless you all. I am in tears right now

Terrific story.. thanks, Greg ... have been a fan of both bands for many years.. the recent death of Chris is devastating .. he was one of my favorites!
+Dan Moser Glad u like it
Greg's gone now too
I thought he was gonna say "to compete with that we got three private jets, one with a sticker saying 'emerson', one with a sticker saying 'lake'..." need I go on?
This was a great little clip. Thanks for haring.
Yes && ELP. What a tour that must've been!
Great clip and great story.
Rip Chris, still miss you

"Maybe" "Definitely Maybe?" I always wanted to know if their was a tribute to Yes called "No" "Maybe so?"
That's a great story
Emerson asked Squire to join him but Squire didn't want to sing lead so it worked out pretty well.
Greg Lake remembers touring with YES

My 2 favorite prog musicians
Thanks for posting!
Love Yes.., but Henderson Snake Charmer is so much TIGHTER!
I would have called them No.
That's an amazing story!
Nice, then why am I crying

Thanks Tony!
Henderson Snake and Charmer, and Maybe. lol
I'd like to purchase the whole catalogue of that band Maybe.

Great story
What a story! You CAN'T make this stuff up.
i heard a similar story before. i heard that it had the "Chicago" logo underneath the Yes logo. can anyone confirm that?
in hope there is an awesome jam going on .. with these 2.. Keith > JOHN> ALLAN>>>>> with Tony Ortiz looking on
