Version of Waltzing Matilda lyrics (Wikipedia):
Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolibah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled:
"Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me?"
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me."
Down came a jumbuck to drink at that billabong.
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee.
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me."
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me",
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me."
Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred.
Down came the troopers, one, two, and three.
"Whose[ is that jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me."
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me",
"Whose is that jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me."
Up jumped the swagman and sprang into the billabong.
"You'll never take me alive!" said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong:
"Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me?"
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me",
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong:
"Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me?"
My god, I first saw this nearly a decade ago. The memories!
Claymation can be so incredibly unsettling sometimes.
Thank you, glad you liked the film.
Love the cute Joey at the end
Looks like i'm not going to sleep tonight
Hi Karen Brangan, it is very unlikely that this film is commercially available, although you could enquire through a large shop that sells dvd’s and so on. You could try websites such as amazon and ebay or other second hand markets. The film was made by the South Australian Film Corporation, so you could try contacting them directly. Any copying of the film requires permission of the SA Film Corporation, but of course you can always watch it on UA-cam.
Thanks heaps for uploading this, I had never seen it before. Enjoyed it very muchly
cheers
Love it !!
Yes the song could be considered as an 'unofficial' national anthem. In 1977 Australians voted for the national anthem in a poll. 'Advance Australia Fair' came first and 'Waltzing Matilda' second.
THANK YOU! i have been looking for this clip for a long time as i can rememeber this clay animation!
Greetings from Spain!!! Good Video!!! Beautiful and Sad Song!!! Is it true that this is the "second" anthem of Australia?
I saw this in school...
Sad :(
Greetings from the US - Is there anyway we can get a hold of a copy to buy? We had a video copy when my boys were little and they loved it. It has somehow gone missing and though they are grown they still love it and talk about it often.
Wait is this the real one?????
Probably
Am I able to embed this video clip into my educational blog? I don't want to infringe any copyright regulations. Reading the TOS from UA-cam and for Global2 (blog) it appears that I can do so but just require clarification. By the way my Year 3/4 classes really enjoyed watching it.
Hi Kaye, yes you are able to embed the video in your blog. Please acknowledge the SA Film Corporation and the State Library of SA in your blog post. The film can not be actually copied/downloaded without permission. I'm glad your class liked it!
Waltzing Matilda - LET'S MAKE IT THE OFFICIAL AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM! ua-cam.com/video/vQgZmSwRZ20/v-deo.html
That was the National Song poll, not National Anthem. Too many people did not want a song glorifying a criminal as a national anthem. Whitlam was trying to test the waters. I worked at the Australian Electoral Office at the time counting the votes.
Seems legit
this is horrible
Better than minecraft
You clearly have no taste in classics then, bloody people need to stop caring so much about Minecraft
When I see a person with a Minecraft pic and name I flip out (In a pissed off way)
AdamAngusPhilJoe I don't care.
