Best video on tracking in Blender I've ever seen. Thanks!
Thank you! Perfect pace, I love this format "please teach others how to make these video's." The world needs more of this.
I really appreciate how your video explains everything so quickly and clearly, and with great humour. Thanks!

legend thx
Haha! Glad you found It helpful!
awesome tut!! thanks!
What can I do if my footage is a slow 360 spin?? a good footage, but I don't have 8 points tracked along the whole clip
Well, you don't have to have 8 common tracks along the whole clip, just between the keyframe A and B. (In the Solve tab) Hope that helps!
I've been trying to find footage like this, flying through a street. Any suggestions? I've tried pexels but cant find! Thanks!
What are the consequences of not making it an image sequence? I always track .mov videos and I've never really had any issues.
How do they not have an automatic feature detection and tracking tool yet?
When I set the floor or the wall of the scene, it just sends the camera into a completely random rotation. Seemingly no rhyme or reason to what it's doing. Any advice? I've also noticed in the viewport, where you have the empties representing the tracking points, the camera is zoomed in and none of the tracking points actually line up with the footage. I have the camera focal length set in the track menu and I'm still having that issue as well. I'm not sure if they're connected or not. Any advice is appreciated!
Same problems here
@@atch300 yeah it's tricky, still haven't found a solution
what do i do if the camera is circling around a subject?
It looks like you know what you are talking about and if you make a video of 20 minutes everybody could learn camera tracking. But why 4 minutes for such extensive topic? Explaining everything lightning fast with no examples or follow thru, making 10 cuts every 3 seconds and cover the screen with memes and words make the video unintelligible. Make a longer, calmer one please! 🙏
Yeah, you are 100% Correct - My newer videos are still fast-paced but without any of the memes and unnecessary distracting stuff. They are a bit slower, but I don't want to slow down to much.
I like it fast! Could live without the memes, though. 😅
If the ground plane is a shadow catcher, it should also have the material that matches the video - so that when the object you superimposed is glossy metallic, you can see the ground in the reflections. Does anybody have an easy solution to this? A material that is a camera projection of a video?
I recorded a vertical video and I don't have the same 8 markers along the whole footage, is there a workaround for those cases?
Thank you
Hey there, so yeah I think there are two workarounds, the first one is this video by cgmatter: ua-cam.com/video/PGwRpbYK45Y/v-deo.html
this will only work in some cases, but you could try to give it a shot
the other workaround, isnt really a workaround, rather a bit of extra information, because the 8 don't actually need to persist for the whole footage, they only need to be active withing the frame range you set for the camera solve, of course you always need 8 trackers, but they don't have to be the same anymore.
I hope that helps!
@@edinspiegel I'll check it out, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing ❤️💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
NICe Editing ahahaa
Thanks!
I get an impulse for a few seconds, about halfway through my video clip. The video is very smooth, though. What would cause that?
I think there must be some track that's glitching out in that moment - maybe you have to manually observe all tracks and see which one is the problem. Let me know if that helps!
I still cant get the error low enough, is there a risk if the error is zero?
Why do i need to use image sequences? serious question.
Hey there - yeah so you need to use image sequences because else you can run into a situation where the tracking points are slipping around - I think it only happens if the framerate doesnt match 100% - but just to be sure I always convert the footage into an image sequence first.
Кстати, думаю важно было бы упомянуть о Refine solution
it is good but seam to be rushtime at the end part of tutorial. please ,more detail
My solve error is good, but when I try to setup the tracking scene it’s always just so painfully wrong.
How do I place the markers though?
Ctrl+ click where you want to place it
1:48 try alt f4
3D tracking in Blender Is always a headache to me. It never properly works. So most of the time I just do everything CG
Well that's... unfortunate! What exactly are you struggling with? Is it just jittery? Or do you even get a solve?
@@edinspiegel jittery. I keep deleting tracks until I'm under 1 pixel solving error. It's still jittery here and there.
If I delete too many I can't solve it anymore. So I live with the jitter and add more fake shake in after effects
@@PhilFlock Well that to is a tactic! - I don't know exactly what the problem could be - but some things come to mind:
1. the tracks you have glitch out on specific frames - this doesn't have to impact the solve error that much, but can be spotted when watching them closely through the entire clip
2. you're objects arent properly aligned with the ground - this could result in a lot of sliding
3. you don't have enough tracks close to the object you wan't to place in the scene
maybe if you could send me a screenshot of the tracking graph I could diagnose further!
@@edinspiegel that'd be cool. Are you on Instagram
@@PhilFlockdid that help?
I think most "master" and "pro" trackers wouldn't start tracking without first changing correlation from .75 to .9 😉
You could do it that way, but I disagree honestly, I prefer to correct any errors that occur while tracking, rather than having to constantly re-keyframe a track that stopped even though it was still tracking the exact correct thing.
@@edinspiegel I guess if you're choosing your own trackers, correlation is less important than if you used detect features. I tend to use the latter approach and figure why not start with .9 because I can always back that up if I need more markers.
@@spearcy Yeah you are right, in that case a 0.9 correlation would be smart!
Too fast the screen actions are moving. Just knowing technical isnt enough to be a good teacher.
I put dislike always that kind of videos about being pro in 5 minutes.....
This video caused a big headache 😢, please more slow.
incredibly hard to watch
Unfortunatly you use too much meme. Educational video shouldn't be distractive
your Video Editing is so Bad and i cant watch your video!
First of all, slow down and stop flipping through pictures. It’s very annoying. If you want to learn how to make tutorials look at other tutorials and their comments. Good tutorials are when you can understand what the person is saying. You’ll get more people to watch your videos.
I agree 100%. Unfortunately most youtube tutorials are like this to cater to the ADHD crowd.
You have a slow down function in UA-cam and you can play and replay the video so what else ?
@@stephanenicault4939You shouldn't have to slow down the video.
@@gregorybennings8718 I always understand slowly. 😁
If you have a problem your idiotic ass should read the description, it says In under 4 minutes, how do you expect him to explain it to you in under 4 minutes? Like there are other blender tutorials you should watch
Result came out horrible and absolutely unusable 👍
