  • Unlock, Slide & Treat! Level 3
Get ready to hide, seek and treat with this Nina Ottosson dog puzzle. The Dog Twister challenges and occupies your dog while they work to unlock tasty treats hidden inside each compartment. Fun for all dogs regardless of age, size and breed, the Dog Twister is sure to be your new favorite dog game!
MADE FOR MASTER PAWS: The Dog Twister by Nina Ottosson is great for dogs that are looking for more challenging treat dispensing dog games and toys. The Dog Twister is more challenging than Level 1 and Level 2 Nina Ottosson games, but can be enjoyed by paws everywhere!
PLAY WITH PUZZLES: The Dog Twister dog puzzle works to combine both mental stimulation and independent play to maximize your dog’s playtime while working to exercise their mind and body. Through treat discovery, your dog is engaged and excited to learn new tricks!
PULL OUT AND SLIDE: Unique to the Nina Ottosson Dog Twister dog game is the white locking handles. If your dog is good at solving puzzles, introduce them to a new challenge by simply pushing in the white handles to lock all bricks on top.
LEVEL 3 CHALLENGE: Nina Ottosson Dog Games and puzzles are great for dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes. This level 3 dog game is especially recommended for more challenging play, but can be used with dogs of all play levels.
HOW TO PLAY: Pull handles out to unlocked position to slide paw panels. Place treats or kibble in compartments. Line up sliding paw panels and lock them in place by pushing handles in. Let the games begin! Place game on floor and encourage your pet to seek treats. Dogs are smarter than you think. Sometimes we just need to teach them! Leave handles in the unlocked position and offset paw panels so your dog can smell and access treats easier.
FROZEN PUZZLE: Mix some canned/wet dog food or raw food with water, pour some of the mixture in the hollows, or place a small piece of sausage or a tasty treat in each of the hollows, pour a little water, put the game in the freezer and let it set. Perfect for energetic dogs, hot weather, or just extended fun.
PLAY TOGETHER: Nina Ottosson Dog Puzzle Games focus on challenging your dog’s brain. Supervise when playing, and don´t let the dog chew on the toy. Teach your dog how to use the puzzle, play and have fun together. Put away until next time.

It would be great to see a video of a dog actually doing the puzzle as designed. Could you do that?

Hi Nina, thanks so much for the tip about putting a string on the handles because this is the only Nina Ottosson game (I have five) that my Dachshund can't workout.

My pup finished your level 1 and level 2 pieces really quick and easy. This level 3 one specifically he has trouble with understanding how to unlock the pieces. First time I didn’t lock them. He slid them all easily. But with locks he essentially became clueless and resorting to biting, scratching, and lifting the puzzle. Any tips to guide him or perhaps other puzzles that will lead him to be able to grasp this one?

Hi, this puzzle is advanced, especially if you have a nose dog, you can tie strings or rope in the handles to make it easier for your dog to pull them out. I would recommend the DogWorker, a level 3 puzzle, you place treats inside the sliding cups through the top holes, as the dog has to slide until the treats fell out in a compartment, but you can also make it easier by just place treats in compartments in the base.

Oh! How wonderful! You clever thing! Our Border Collie , Evie, would love this! I am in need of fresh ideas like this as I love her so much and she is a superbrain!

Thank you, BC is a very clever breed, I think our level 3 puzzles would be lots of fun for her, the DogWorker is a great puzzle to begin with.

Yes, I agree! The BC is probably the brainiest breed! I rescue dogs. One at a time. Sometimes I find a home for them but that was only when I was a foster mum for the RSPCA.
Evie likes chasing and running most! On very wet days we run round the sofa for extra exercise/work. She loves to work and we work together. Any ideas for chasing or running games?

Hi we just got this for our spaniel and he loves it. He also has the one with the flaps and sliders
Does it come with string as I don’t think ours did?
He can work the locks anyway
    Thanks

I´m glad your dog enjoy puzzling. The DogTwister does not come with strings, it´s only a tips to make it easier for dogs to pull the handles out.

Unfortunately, for my dog, the black floor protectors on the bottom of the toy are easier to pull out than the white tabs.

    • @Nina_Ottosson

DogTwister is an advanced level 3 puzzle, but you can tie strings in the white tabs to make it easier for your dog to pull them out, and I would recommend removing the black feet if your dog finds them interesting.

I have one of these, my gsd just starts pulling the green parts out instead of sliding them.

It´s important to teach the dog how to use them, othervise they find their own solution. You can try to freeze it, add yogurt or a little water with something tasty in each compartment, let it set in the freezer. I would recommend the DogWorker or the Dog Hide N Slide, both puzzles made of composite, which is a little sturdier material without removable parts.

I do think my dog is very clever, but this puzzle is tiny bit to difficult for him .. He rather pulls of off the blue lids instead of unlocking and twisting them. He also found out when turning it upside down the lids will fall out the lock.

You can tie the strings in the white handles to make it easier for him to unlock the discs.

Design flaw....dog can lift it up my the white locks and then the blue bricks lift open and the treats fall out... waste of money

    • @Nina_Ottosson
      @Nina_Ottosson  3 роки тому +3

It´s important to supervise when the dog uses treat toys and puzzles and to teach the dog how to use them (the playing rules), and to not let the dog chew on the puzzle or turn it upside down. As soon as this starts happening, you need to stop the play. Treat puzzles contain treats/food and are therefore very exposed. If the dog does not understand how to access the treat pieces, the logic of the dog is to try in every way to get to the treats, in its own way. Especially if the dog uses a game for the first time or has a game that may be too difficult for them, and they don´t understand how it works.
A tips to prevent the dog to “shake” the treats out is to make a Frozen puzzle: by mix something tasty with water or yogurt, place treats, kibble, piece of sausage, or a tasty treat in each compartment, pour a little water or yogurt, or mix a little canned dog food with water, pour some of the mixture in the compartments, put the game in the freezer and let it set.
