Happy you like the game. I´m sorry, but I made them myself by twisting yarn. You can use natural rope or thicker rope instead // Nina

I wish the brake slot on the slider was closed instead of open. Within an afternoon my 4-month-old kelpie has figured out if he paws it hard enough the slider will jump off the brake and can be be moved. He's too strong to place the puzzle on a step because he can just pick it up. I would have liked it if it came with the rope (thankfully I have cotton rope handy). I'll try putting it on his bed but I suspect he'll just pick it up and move it.

An update, putting it on his bed stopped him from trying to brute force the puzzle. He now flips the puzzle upside-down or even holds it on it's side to move the sliders. Again, closed slots would have made this method useless, but he's taking his time now and purposefully manipulating the puzzle, so I'm happy. As I type this he's managed to lift one of the sliders off entirely so perhaps that'll become a method he exploits. For the flaws and price I wouldn't recommend this particular puzzle for anything but small and toy dogs, but I'm ultimately happy with the outcome and would consider another Nina's puzzles in the future.

Hi and thank you for your feedback.
You can try to freeze the puzzle with natural yogurt or water together with some treats or food pieces in it, licking makes a calmer play and treats can´t fell out if the dog is a rough player.
The Dog Casino is an advanced level 3 puzzle when the handles are locked. It´s a balance in how difficult a game should or can be, some dogs are incredibly good at problem solving, and some need to step by step learn how to solve puzzles and need help from us to understand how the puzzle works. If it is too difficult to understand, the dog may become frustrated and try to find its own solutions to find the treats, which is completely normal for a dog that does not understand how the puzzle works, but then it can be very difficult to teach the dog to play according to the rules of the game again.
Puzzles for dogs are like cross-word and Sudoku for us, we need to understand the rules of the game, how to solve it, or get help, especially if we try a more difficult version, if we don't understand, we get frustrated and give up, dogs can instead start to chew and come up with their own solutions to find the treats, which is natural then for a dog, so we need to show and teach the dog how to play so the dog understands the concept and how to play to find the treats.
Below is information about our policy regarding our puzzle games:
Nina Ottosson puzzle games by Outward Hound are developed for and have focus on challenging the dog’s brain. They are NOT like chew toys or other toys. We INFORM on packaging that it is important to supervise the dog and don´t let them bite or chew on the puzzle. The dog owner has to supervise when playing, teach the dog how to use the puzzle. Since the puzzles contain food or treats, it´s important to supervise the dog closely, so he does not try to cheat by bite or chew his way to the treats.

I'm having a similar experience. My dog learned right away that the slot doors can easily be lifted up and over the breaks. It's very difficult now to try to teach her the sequential steps when she knows it's unnecessary.

hello! my dog has trouble with pulling the ropes - any tips for teaching that skill? thank you!

It is a challenging level 3 puzzle and it´s sometimes a challenge to teach the dog to pull the rope, but if your dog knows the word fetch, ie lift up or pick up something, then you can use fetch when you try to teach the dog to pull out the handle with the rope.
You can also try to tie a piece of treats or similar in the end of the rope, or smear something tasty on it.
Another tips is to show the dog how the handle is pulled out with the rope, many dogs can learn by watching, if you open and close several times, and each time you open, you give the dog a piece of treats from the puzzle. Good luck.
