Hes not American. Paull is from South Africa. He often performs with The South African Men's Choir..... basically its the guys that do that old the old 90's era Lifesavers comercial, (Yummmmm) 😂
Actually, I like Paul Simon. I have great respect for him as a singer/songwriter. But I think he sounds like crap in this video. There is zero melodic imagination in his improvisation.
@Lucas Hale totally. he was on point...I know his stuff well and the first thing I thought was how pristine his voice still sounded. ..the guy is in his late 70s...tough crowd
Paul is SO funny. I love him in these performances... As in SNL. Thank you, Stephen, for loving him and inviting his humor to join the musician we know so well. I love you both!
I love how Stephen just does these bits (like the one with James Taylor) in such a lowkey way and generally just celebrates how great the artist is by letting them shine.
Two of my most favorite people. One of the best concerts I've been to was Paul Simon performing with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He really gives his all when he performs.

OMG this made me so so so happy. Paul Simon's timeless incredible voice. Colbert shocking the hell out of me by being a gorgeous baritone! The heart-warming black comedy. Simon concluding the beautiful collaboration with another blunt "I hate it."😂😂 Excuse me whilst I replay this 10 more times 🎶🎶🎶
They of course didn't know about Trump 2020 back then, but if this icon of New Yorkese liberalism hate this song so much, how would that land in Trumpville? Imagine a pickup truck roaring down Main Street, tearing up the pavement, the driver humming "Hello Lamppost, how yo doin" whilst cutting the corner to Church Street..
This is why I wake up every morning to see awesome stuff like this, congrats to Colbert and he is king of late night and Paul Simon we love you and your beautiful soul shines through
This is hilarious 😂 This is one of my absolute favorite songs and I love this rendition ❤️😆 Look at Stephen singing like a boss with his baritone voice 🥰
I saw this live on TV and the charm, humor and Paul’s voice was extraordinary. The host and the guest were so comfortable and wonderful together. !💐❤⭐️
In the late 60s I was in a Jr High School choir and we got to do this song. I think it was one of the acceptable "modern" songs they let us sing. Just saying the memory brings the hint of a tear to my eyes.
I fucking *LOVE* 59 Street Bridge Song. It's beautiful in its innocence and naivety. It reminds me of my youth, better days, eating LSD in a simpler time with a president who wasn't actively trying to bring about the apocalypse. Maybe a more appropriate song for this generation might be The Sound of Silence. "And the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls."
Danielle Spargo It wasn’t at all a simpler time, as someone above pointed out. We were just simpler. I think if we were innocent when we first heard this song, it will always bring us back.
Wonderful to hear Paul Simon again and kudos for your sense of humor, Sir. Thanks for the laugh, even as i'm thinking about annihilation while humming along! Wow...
Feeling Groovy was released in 1966, 3 years after the assassination of JFK, four years after The Cuban Missile crisis. Probably written with the enthusiasm of youth because a 75-year-old probably thought the same way Paul Simon does today in 1966 when this song was originally brought out. Great song for a sunny afternoon, however.
Tell you what Paul. I'm commenting here during the 2020 Covid Pandemic and this was the song (Feeling Groovy) that came to mind. The Pandemic for at least is a re-set. Slow down, get off the gravy train, follow Nature. Always time and place for every song. I've always loved your guitar playing Paul. Your a legend. Noho ora mai (Remain well Paul).
He went to Cornell University where he was a member of an a cappella group called Here Comes Treble. His nickname was Broccoli Rob. He performed 3 of the solos with that group. The Boner Champ had 4 including George Michael's Faith.

Boy that's fun! When Paul started the song I got chills...he's been a part of my dna since 8th grade some 50+ years ago when we were examining the lyrics to The Sounds of Silence in English class.

Paul Simon is an American treasure
Yes, a wonderful precious memory for many of us, and now, apparently, also a prostitute to political stupidity
Apparently, so is Donald Trump! LMAO

Yeah when I get his stupid looking scalp on my belt.

Paul Simon still has that amazing voice after all these years.
still crazy
Emmanuel Alejandro ooooh still cra-a-azy 🎶
Emmanuel Alejandro Indeed! Still melodic, pleasant and soothing as always. My favorite folk singer.
Paul Simon might as well, but this is again the unpaid genius author's o-sound including all voices. Sad (mankind) but true.
Actually, I like Paul Simon. I have great respect for him as a singer/songwriter. But I think he sounds like crap in this video. There is zero melodic imagination in his improvisation.
I have to say, Colbert's voice is awesome. And Paul's voice hasn't really changed too much over 30+ years.
50+ years!
Ah, yeah, Paul’s was getting pitchy on some of the tremolo
And the nut can dance. Love him.❤️
@Lucas Hale totally. he was on point...I know his stuff well and the first thing I thought was how pristine his voice still sounded. ..the guy is in his late 70s...tough crowd

Love Paul Simon. I think I might listen to his vinyl tonight when I get home from work. Great song Steven. You make us South Carolinians proud!!
Feelin groovy is just wat we need in these hard times. keep calm and feel groovy, folks!
It's always great when Stephen sings with his guest.
Paul is SO funny. I love him in these performances... As in SNL. Thank you, Stephen, for loving him and inviting his humor to join the musician we know so well. I love you both!
I love how paul’s voice has barely deteriorated. He doesn’t have the range he used to but for his age that’s incredible
I love how Stephen just does these bits (like the one with James Taylor) in such a lowkey way and generally just celebrates how great the artist is by letting them shine.
I just saw the one with James Taylor for the first time today. Fantastic
And when I thought I couldn't fall more in love with Colbert..
This is just lovely, weird as it may be.
Bless you too, Paul :)
Fuck, this song gives me goosebumps. I love 59th Bridge song so much

Yeah, and awesome to see Paul too😂
I've always loved this song, always puts a smile on my face. Precisely because it is naive and simple, yet pure gold.
🎶 Colbert's bringing his A-game, feelin' grooovy! 🎶 (love you, Paul Simon! 💜)
hes one of the greatest!!
First time ever I have been envious of Stephen!! This is legendary and I wish I could've jammed with Paul Simon on my fave song Feelin' Groovy too 😍
I like when Stephen hit that note on North Korea, he got a decent voice 😎
He often talks about how he was in glee club, and has played in some musicals, so yeah. He sang a pretty nice duet with Anna Kendricks some time ago.
You go Stephen 😜😜😜
How to ruin a song.
How to show not acceptance of defeat. All of this media against Trump keep on losing even if they make up lyrics in any classic song.

Paul's timing with 'I hate it' at the close is impeccable. Such a humourous man to add to his formidable list of other talents.

one more reason to love Stephen Colbert--all this and he can sing too!
Lovely to see Paul on Stephen 💖
Wow, Kudos to Colbert. He’s very musical, and has a good sense of timing and singing in key. Very impressive!

Much love to everyone and especially these angelic voices 💗

WOW! Will probably watch this several times and then again. Feeling Groovy...
I could die watching these two singing and talking!
I love the random, "Congratulations" at the beginning.
Even when Stephen is trying to sound silly he has a great voice.
Jamming with Paul Simon while bashing the Trump administration, multitasking, you're doing it right!
Hanging out with an icon, bringing the harmony, capturing the national mood...yep, multitasking and feeling groovy! 🎶

I freaking love that song. What our world needs is peace of love
Just beautiful!!!! Love love love
Should have been "Feelin' Gloomy"...
Haha
*clap clap clap*
Although that's a good try, I feel like that would be too literal to make the song as funny as it turned out.
Yea I like that good idea though it was still great as is
Was Feelin’ Stormy
Now I’m Feelin’ Gloomy
Great remake of Feelin Groovy. A sign of the times.
Wow, Stephen Colbert is such a fantastic singer. His phrasing is awesome, and his tone is very distinctive, as if he was not trying at all.
Colbert's talent knows no bounds
