Very competitive sector. I work at Enterprise car rental and have had the privilege of test driving the Rougue, Escape, RAV4, Tucson, CRV and the CX5 and let me tell you, you can't go wrong choosing any one of those vehicles. There are certain things I like about each one , so alot of consumer preference will go into a decision being made. But over all , if you are looking for an all purpose and practical crossover , any one of those vehicles will likely fulfill your needs.
Nicely done! Like the comparison type presentation these guys deliver very well as it answered a number of questions I had that the brand-only videos did not address. I'm a dedicated Honda buyer since 1990 and will be replacing my 2010 CRV with the new 2017 model. Really appreciated this video!
I'll keep my boring RAV4. I want a car that will start and run for 100,000+ miles and not let me down. Not having to worry about the CVT belt breaking or the turbo puking is a nice thing. Yea, I am happy with my "boring" RAV4
That's not all, the new 1.5T engine on the CR-V have fuel diluted issue so I'll stick to my old Rav4 as well...was looking to get the CR-V but heard it's not good.
CVT belt ? There’s no such thing as a CVT belt, I don’t know where you getting this from but you are wrong, and I’ve had Hondas all my life and never had an issue but whatever
I'm from Australia and I see lots of Toyota cars. It's because it was the first car company to be introduced to Australia before the other brands came over. I rode on the new Honda CRV and the ride and spacing interior was great for me. I would choose cars for the practicality, meaning fuel efficient, safe, spacious and decent pricing.
Chino, so you are telling me the CVT is superior to the 6 speed Toyota transmission? After 250,000 miles on the CVT please report back how the transmission is holding up. Better yet Google CVT and read about all the headaches owners have experienced with the CVT. My neighbor exceeded 300,000 miles on his Toyota 6 speed transmission with zero repairs. There is no way a CVT will outlast the 6 speed Toyota transmission. You can have all the bells a whistles the CRV offers. I will take what is most important- reliability.
I would gladly pay for a new transmission every year so as to not be forced to drive some boing ass appliance Toyota. Plus, I can afford to replace my car every year, another reason to never be seen driving a poor man's appliance.
I get 34 mpg in my 17 CRV Touring. FYI the 190 hp1.5 L turbo in the CRV is not the exact same 1.5 T engine in the Civic there are differences internally and the CRV engine is 2cc larger
10:52 - hold on mate, did you say "annoying lane watch system"? Clearly you don't know what you are talking about. Honda's lane watch was the most effective lane watch system ever created. One has to be terribly incompetent to have an accident with that system, whereas, the conventional lane watches are fancy at best. If you are turning your head and eye to see the far end of the passenger mirror, you are very likely to look over your shoulders anyway. So conventional lane watches are quite useless.
"When changing lanes, you should be looking out to the side" - yes that's most certainly what you should be doing. But did I say otherwise? This is a passive safety system, so the expectation is that the driver does his/her job. If they fail, this device reduces the risk of a crash my offering an alternative means to spot something in the blind spot. About the driver side blind spot, I disagree with you assertion that driver side blind spot is bigger. That's not what my experience has been. But if you have a study to point to, I'd love to review.
I like the Honda lanewatch system but I personally find it to develop bad habits in that it can increase your complacency by relying on the system rather than looking over your shoulder. This becomes especially apparent when driving other vehicles. Frankly, any vehicle I've driven extensively with a blindspot notification system has had this effect for me.
I have had my CRV touring for a few months and love it. The technology is amazing and when I need it to be peppy I turn off the econo. I have learned to use the adaptive cruise pretty much all the time. It will do stop and go traffic perfect.
If previous RAV4s and CRVs are anything to go by, the CRV is way better. Compare a 10 year old Honda with many cars, they just feel so tight and together.
9:50 RLY??? I can pass on the highway??? COOOOOOLLLL!!!!!! Guys, my Honda Civic 2008 once I modified the CU does 180HP and it's more than enough! How can we complain about 190HP on a crossover???
you guys and the volume nob... as a owner of a 2016 Civic EX-T without volume nob.. I love it and it's easier to clean than my 2009 ridgeline with volume nob. Do you guys live with a new Honda vehicle without nob?
The base RAV4 doesn't offer the safety features as described in the video. The LE has no features beyond auto door locks, power windows, small touch screen radio with CD, Bluetooth. The Entune system shown here is not present on the base. If you want more features you pay over $27k for XLE and some of those safety features cost more as a add on. I own the newest RAV4, or as I called "CRAP4". Btw, the LE is $25k after purchase with all the fees and taxes.
I have read that the Honda CRV turbo is getting horrible gas milage while driving in the city. It has been reported some drivers are only getting 20 miles per gallon in real life city driving If that is true I may as well step up to a Ford pickup with the eco boost engine.
Rav has a better AWD system(better split and you can lock out both diffs if you need) and the 6spd is hands down the best trans. Rav's last forever with basic maintenance. Personally I'd buy the CRV if I lived in the south and was doing alot of city driving. I 'd buy the Rav if I lived up north and was doing rougher roads, snow, mud, camping out ect.
Simply .. only people on here defending the rav4 are people that already own one. If someone is in the market for a car and choosing between the two.. literally no one will pick the rav4 after driving both. They don't even have Apple car play or android auto and don't plan to have it in its horizon which in turn means Honda buyers don't have to pay for navigation if you have a smart phone. And Toyota's navigation graphics are still very undesirable to look at.
If you're worried about ground clearance you shouldn't be buying a rav4 or a crv, so I don't get the relevance of your statement. Frankly, the rav4 has a more suitable AWD system for offroad in comparison to the CRV because you can manually lock the rear differential. If you're driving on unplowed roads then you should probably be looking at something taller anyway. I think I covered everything.
yep the toyota drivetrain is tried and true. i would gladly take the 6 speed tried and true trans in the toyota over the CVT in the honda which has those stupid artificial stumbles to make it feel like you are driving a planar gear trans.
Digitalbumpin yeah your plastic garbage Toyota pleaseee YOU DONT make me laugh I give you the transmission cuz is a CVT besides the exterior is better the interior is better the leather the radio hahahaha please my cousin had a Camry change it for a Honda accord sport 2017 Toyota is cheap as fuck!!! Bum ass car
The CRV has more space, more power, better fuel economy, more comfort, and refinement. That's what CUV buyers want. There's a reason why the CRV is the best selling in this segment for years. If they were cheap and unreliable that wouldn't be the case. You're splitting hairs when comparing the reliability of these two companies and really dumb to chose an inferior outdated model at this point.
CD's continue to be the most popular media for playing music. All the rest are compressed data and not nearly as good as the good old CD . If you are happy listening to distortion and compression, go right ahead, matters not to me. This is from a person that makes a living designing audio systems for large venues and a degree in audio sciences.
Honda is terrible in selecting a alloy rims. All their Civic, Accord and this CRV has terrible designed which I don't' care for. I like my 2015 Accord Sport rims though. LOL
They keep on making ugly Honda after 2011 model. I like Toyota/Lexus/BMW and Subaru design better than Honda. Honda CRV look like a Volvo SUV since 2005.
I loooove the rav4 and plan on getting the LE version. I think in this video they were reviewing with the limited which style wise I dont like. I personally think the LE or the XLE look WAY better. Also that interior was awful lol
Olivia if you are in an area that experiences Winter or slippery conditions, spend a few bucks more and get the LE AWD. just got mine and it's a great ride. spoke to a few RAV 4 owners and they say the Winter driving is awesome.
Have you ever noticed it's always some Toyota driving holding up traffic and driving 10 under the speed limit. I HATE getting behind a Toyota in traffic.
@CountryStranger 4 years late, huh? Guess what? Toyota's are still considered the most boring cars in the world (except, of course, for their Yaris GR). That's not immature, you moron, just facts. Deal with it or fuck off
CRV is not not comfortable, and very cheap interior insulation, with all window close you hair loud noise like windows are open, very rough ride and also very cheap body paint like you can clean the paint with your hand, scratches very easily not a good option.👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Toyota is a joke in terms of having less mechanical issues than Honda, which is a fact anyone with half a brain can verify on NHTSA? Talk out your ass more, fanboy.
Digitalbumpin i don't agree , i have a 2013 rav4 with 60 000 miles on it now . i owned it since day 1 with 0 miles and now i will have to pay 3600 to fix a torque converter that apparently it is a commom issue however toyota chose not to recall it . last time i am buying Toyota
Zuhahaha Toyota is grandfather of their, Toyota does perfect always but into the needed subjects... Not important ALL of JAPANS perfect, not very important subject...
The dude driving the Rav 4 was just dawging it to the ground. Probably have no idea how to drive properly or purposely drove it harder to get less mileage...
"If I'm honest"??? No, lie to me. Do you actually watch your video before/after you edit it? That should have been caught and either taken out, or re-done.

the rav4 guy look like linguini from ratatouille
the rav4 looks like a Transformer. Robots in disguise
Guntur Ananda 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love that movie I still watch it now and then best animation ever
I think you made a mistake in saying that Honda Sensing is available on EX and above. In fact, it is standard equipment on EX and above.
I'm from Australia and I see lots of Toyota cars. It's because it was the first car company to be introduced to Australia before the other brands came over. CRV 17 AWD, Drove loaded to Miami about 1200 miles each way. Mileage 32 mpg !
2017 Honda CR-V is the winner.......hands down! 👍🏻
Chino, so you are telling me the CVT is superior to the 6 speed Toyota transmission?

Agree Bobby, I try to look over the shoulders just to make sure the habit doesn't go away.
2017 Honda CR-V vs 2017 Toyota RAV4

What’s the name of soundtrack you have playing starting around the 3:00 mark?
Let me guess, you work for a honda dealership. Now my comment is, I would never trade my toyota for a honda crv ever. Nice try
I'm debating Rav 4 CR-V & Sante Fe Sport
Not sure which to go, I'm leaning Rav 4 right now
Have you looked into the Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Rogue?
rav4 is good.... tough and durable
crv
Is the crv fuel efficient when driving to road trip and stuff
CVT transmission ?
you guys and the volume nob... as a owner of a 2016 Civic EX-T without volume nob.. I love it and it's easier to clean than my 2009 ridgeline with volume nob. Do you guys live with a new Honda vehicle without nob?
The no volume nob is anoyying as hell
@@skyhigh5157 i hate the volume knob on my crv. People in the front keeps raising the volume. Cant clean my screen right.
Which one is smaller in terms of length, the crv or rav4
Honda creat their own cvt honda cvt is awesome and smooth and the turbo is also great and that oil problem well just warm up your enbine before
Is that bayonne park?
Was that logic's song in instrumental starting around 5 min??
The 2017 drives much better than the 2016 because of space and the new CVT transmission
maybe you should mention the fact that the honda engine has an oil dissolution problem they cannot fix
LM, you're wrong about that.

Add 2 inches by simply replacing an ~18 inch piece of exhaust pipe.
the black spot on the video drove me crazy, i was trying to clean my screen wtf
Honda GDI allows gas to get into the crankcase and dilute the oil. Couple that to the CVT and.....no thanks!!!!
cx5 much better than both
Gangstar, I love it
rav4
the honda crv has a totally different interior in Europe, not for the better i might add
I don't think the RAV4 even has a chance with the base CRV. The CRV is better looking, better to drive, better interior
say that when the Direct Injection engine of your crv needs a valve cleaning every 50-60kmi

Spencer's Garage it do need cleaning as it is not being cleaned by fuel. Carbon deposits reduce air flow and engine gradually loses power.

Compare base model Rav 4 with front wheel drive against the top model of Honda CRV.😐
Why no CD player in CR-V ? Also dislike that piece of plastic between the front seats.

Honda CRV has Turbo...Has CVT....Good luck if you expect it to last more than 7/8 Years...150 Thou!!!
Let me know how that cvt trany will be after 100k? 160k on my 13 Rav 4 and still drives like new. Honda will be a rust bucket after that many miles

Toyota Rav 4 is better tbh
