Definitely try it while camping (I'd like to see how it's battery packs perform). I'd also want to know if the full HD resolution is something that you think should be updated to 4K and lastly, how well does it pair with other accessories, such as a home theater system.

Hey Mike, can you adjust the size of the image? For instance, if you are projecting it onto your kitchen counter from above, can you make the image smaller to fit into available space?

As a beginner woodcarver, I would be interested to see how projecting your template onto wood would be, in terms of clarity; and how easy it is to work from it. If it works, it would save a lot of trees and chemicals
That would work fine. It has a lightbulb spot
I wouldn’t suggest this. Get a brighter projector. Or you’d have to work in the dark. It’s only 550lm

This seems pretty cool, particularly the ambient stuff. I'm all in on ultra short throw projectors now though, as soon as I can afford the whole set up with the pop up screen and sound bar.

This would be amazing as a travel device. A lot of the airbnbs I stay in don't have TVs in the bedroom and this would resolve that. I can think of a lot of use cases. I currently have a small projector and I simply connect a chromecast to it. But to have it all included in the small package is killer. Sadly the price is obnoxious.

At first, I also thought the price a bit steep but considering it can also be used as a smart speaker as well, and the light show feature is pretty neat too. It's actually offer fair enough value imo. Although, must see how the projector perform in person, I don't expect high but if it's bright and clear enough, should be fine considering the petite size. This might be what I need for my small room 😄
you could pay like 18$ a month if u want for 48 months, making it a lot more affordable, basically another subscription
Save some money and get something with a battery instead. Check out the Anker Mars devices over this overpriced projector.
@@danbogart This anker Mars is already 500 before tax. Adding 300 more to get a Samsung one with more features and better form factor is not a bad idea.
Good review, thanks. A use case I am after is a replacement for my workstation screen where I usually extend my laptop screen when I am going to be working for while, but I have 2 obvious questions: (1) how dim the light needs to be so that you can see comfortably and (2) how slow the casting delay would be so that mouse movements and keystrokes reflect on the display with a short enough feedback before your next move. Any thoughts are welcome as it is a pricey device to buy just for testing and leave it unused later.

At first, I thought this is just a gimmick, but after watching the official commercial and your video, I am so excited about it. Having a Smart TV in my room is never enough for me because I still need a smart speaker to work with it. And I made it but it is not perfect. TV and Smart Speaker are separate items, the TV doesn't turn down the volume when smart speaker is listening to me. With this device, I guess my issue is solved (Please help me to check if it works in that way).
I am deep into Samsung Ecosystem. I have set a Bixby Routines on my N20U which when I toggle on the theater mode on my Watch 4, it will turn off the AOD (both watch and phone), turn on DND, close the windows and room lights (via SmartThings). Now, The Freestyle can be part of the routine.

I pre-ordered this. Having my neck fused makes watching TV in bed impossible so this will be amazing to cast onto the ceiling. Also I hope it works with smartthings so I can make a wake up routine with it. Have you checked smartthings compatibility?

I am a trainer on tech for end users and there is one product line in particular that is my main client. It does what they advertise and often use words like state of art or the best. It's my job to point out that the best device is the one that works for the person using it and their ability to use the features and functions of that device.
So let's not belittle this first impression of the Samsung Freestyle as a just a commercial.

I am so excited for this product. First, I do not have a TV in my bedroom so this might be really cool to watch some shows. Second, ending a barbecue or outdoor party with watching some sport outdoor while projecting it to the wall of your house would be pretty neat as well. It all comes down to the price and brightness for me though.

What about 1) capability to project from the Freestyle, but to broadcast sound to other devices (e.g. from one's phone to a bt sound bar, or bt headset, or mesh bt speakers already installed around a room), or 2) to project the same media from a single source on multiple Freestyle's (e.g. from your phone to Freestyle's projecting on different walls of the same room)?
This is good timing, we were looking at getting home projector. I would be interested to see how a home theater sound system would connect to it.

I've been looking for the right projector for crafting.
Specifically sewing! A fairly new technique where you project the pattern pieces directly on fabric for cutting. But I also wanted one that would be easy to set up and be multifunctional. This looks like it fits my needs!
Please don't buy it, There are many other cheaper and better projectors.

How bright does it get? I have a small xgimi projector which is fine, but I love how it pivots 180 degrees. Another reviewer said not to get it due to cost and lack of brightness. Do you agree? Thanks very much!
$900 for a projector at 550 lumens is a tough break - for me personally. For some people, the versatility may be worth it, but I'd have a hard time using that in my normal life.
That is the Deal breaker for me.... I sit outside and we want to watch sports outdoors. Not bright enought.

Yeah but if you really think about it they are gonna make a version #2 as it already seems very successful!! Also $900 is not bad because on black Friday it was only $450 and right now it's only $550! I do however wish it was brighter at something around 850 lumens but I'm the same time it's pretty decent in the dark anyway and no other projector has this good of software and OS as Samsung tizen dose! 😃
Hi! In your video you don't say anything about light and this is the most important thing to talk about as far projectors are concerned. This looks like a great device for teachers who need to move from one classroom/school to another between classes and don't have access to a traditional projector. But teachers usually have no control over their classrooms and very often there are no blinds you could pull down, so the room is full of light - would Samsung's Freestyle work in a place like that or do you need blinds and no artificial light in the room. In other words - do teachers have to keep their pupils in the dark to be able to use this projector?
it has about 500 lumens (although I saw in Samsung site it is actually 230 Ansi lumens) so you definitely need very dark room to watch it. It also has only 300:1 contrast ratio so watching movies on it would not be great experience.

Scenario 1. Let's see it as a backdrop for video recording. Shoot scenes of yourself in multiple locations in the world. Scene 2. Does it work on. Irrors and glass? Show what that looks like. Scene 3. Hooked to a tablet or phone with spen. Show drawing on a wall full scale view. Show if it can be used to paint a mural for artists. Scenario 4. Show hooked to a laptop, tablet, or phone doing touch capability stuff while it is projecting at a wall or table. Like plying a multi player game with room players. Don't want to be overwhelming so I will stop here.

It has a price tag of $899USD I personally thought it would be around $400-600 especially since it doesn't have 4k.
4k would be dumb...a higher lumen output or contrast ratio would be better
This is my kind of projector it also outlines why i look forward to laser with good price point because it takes very limited space to create a very large image and it is designed to accommodate the keystone effect i imagine with a fixture you could show it on a ceiling . The body is larger which makes this CES projector more interesting for portability. Very exciting to see this design direction is shared by some in the industry.

This product seems really cool for a college dorm. I'm really interested in finding out if you're more than 8'.8" can the projector adjust to be a smaller screen on projection screen/bedsheet, so that you can watch your stuff instead of it possibly being a 200" TV that you can't see because you don't have enough wall space?
I think the ad said it can project between 30 and 100 inches for screen size

@@aoh4905 According to the folks at CES, the official battery pack lasts 2-4 hours, more towards 4 hours. But it looked like any USB-C battery pack could be used.
Very cool little device. I would definitely get one if the price isn't too crazy. So many uses are possible with this. Last year I got a projector and have been spoiled with 100in Netflixing and movies since the current world situation makes cinemas not the best option.. so big screen at home is like a must nowadays. Good video. I am almost sold. I need to know more about the light and picture clarity in a dark room. I do not have a need to play this in daytime with curtains drawn. Some shots of the interface in your video shiw that the picture quality is good but would still like a separate video on the picture, calrity and brightness which are the hallmark of a projector. The type of mounting, form factor and connectivity types are good but are not THE factors governing a projector.

How clear is the image on a blank white wall in full daylight with a distance of maybe 2 meters to the wall? Im thinking of using this instead of a TV when i move into a smaller appartment in a few months, since I wont have space for a proper TV table so my only other option is to hang a TV randomly on the wall above my dining table which would look dumb. Either that or buy the samsung frame TV as it looks more natural above a dining table but thats just much more expensive especially if you want to change the black frame to a wood look, which i do as all my decor is white, beige or wood.

Could be use as an external display to pc? couch setup: ceiling as the New monitor, with mx master keyboard and mouse. Or Portable setup with Samsung smartphone mirror, vmware remote machine and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (for remote working). Awsome content!!

I am having very high hopes on this product, but I hope it will not get killed by: price, lack of brightness and vibrance and lack of control. Auto modes are pretty cool, but there's always a case when auto fails on you and you'd preffer to manualy adjust the angles, focus, brightness. Additionally if it allows to display a small portion of picture anywhere on its range it would be nice to have a control over this as well to determine the size and position manually. The last thing I am missing is Ethernet connection capabilities as, for especially movie theater mode, high bitrate content could be streamed to deliver the best possible experience.
What are the accessories? Run time on the official battery?
I am already sold on the specs. All I need is a matte black edition
I love projectors and I'm happy to see that native 1080p models have finally come down in price to sub $400 CAD. This Samsung model is nice but it's way overpriced for what it is in my opinion. You can do pretty much the same things with a portable projector bought from Amazon or China. They may not look as sleek or have gimmicky accessories (I do like the lamp socket accessory) but they're at least half the price. If Samsung were able to deliver more impressive resolution and brightness specs then I'd be all over it. But as it stands, I just don't feel it's worth it over other offerings.
