Comment "freestyle" if you see this! This video is sponsored by Samsung.
The Freestyle by Samsung is a portable and compact smart home Full HD projector of the future that was unveiled at CES 2022. It features auto keystone and auto focus up to 100", 360 degree speaker sound, Tizen UI, Bixby, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant Support, as well as native accessories including Battery Base, Socket Adapter, Case, and Skin.

Samsung did a good job of (advertising) packaging this together making it do all sorts of things. I love the look of it and I love the ease of use especially for the built-in apps (not having to plug in some extra stick). However, I think it really falls short in brightness and price to it's competition. The $900 price tag for 230 ANSI Lumens is pretty bad compared to other pico projectors.
I think Brightness is one of the bigger factors in making things pop and look great. Any ambient light is going to dim this projector considerably. The freestyle could really wow people if it was just a bit brighter. It really needs to be in the 500+ ANSI Lumen to wow IMO.
Many pico projectors also have bluetooth, auto keystone and can be attached to mini tripods to do the same type of swivel thing.
Stay away from the Samsung Freestyle until we see more real in-depth reviews, realistic uses, etc.
it works like a shit.
Freaking oath. Stay away from Samsung until they put the aftersales support in there business. Just a over priced company selling half as tech now with no support. May aswell buy from china direct since there is no support or warranty
Yea...super misleading that they market at 500 (LED) lumens...
The portable projector is very practical in our day to day scenerious as well explained in the video, cheers justin.
This such a wild idea that if it works as well as advertised, it can be a huge game changer to how we view tv entirely
The idea is awesome, but I hope they integrate well to other devices
Its Samsung so no
I think chinese will copy it as always.
@@tonnny7908 “Chinese” is not a noun. If you want to sound smart, at least educate yourself to know how to write very basic English. Embarrassing.
I wonder is the the pendant lamp shade going to be sold. I’ve noticed it’s the same pendant lamps being used in both advertisements and on the CES showroom floor. The screw in accessory won’t be universal enough in design to fit into certain designs of pendants. U would need a specific similar type of “shop lamp” or industrial style factory lamp to have room for the freestyle to hang and tilt uninterrupted.
This was doing numbers on twitter. As long as it's affordable, it's an interesting competitor to an actual TV
Projectors especially in bedrooms have become very popular, been asked about it from friends who aren’t usually into tech.
I like the potential but as many commented, the fact we don't have options for audio output is a shame. Maybe in the future models, they'll include to get a boost for the speakers. Overall, I'm still impress.
Where can I find the video of this place that you are in? Is it the loftt, the office or the apartment?
I love the shelves on the back and I'm looking for them
This looks sweet.
This is exactly what i was Looking for and what i Need!
No you don't, get an XGimi Halo.
@@ripF5C Bro's definitely affiliated with xgimi
@@ripF5C what is that?
incredible!
It looks pretty cool but it would have been better if it supported 4k quality instead of 1080p with hdr.
Would cost 2000+ for sure
I just learned that Freestyle's 500 LED lumens equal to 300 ANSI lumens. In that case, I'd rather choose MoGo Pro+, which is less expensive and brighte
can this connect to Bluetooth speakers to make the sound louder?
the best product of ces
I have one but the right corner is always blurry and if I adjust the focus manually it gets somewhere else blurry at one spot.
Can this be connected to samsung phone and/or tablet via bluetooth or cable?
Woww, surprised to hear vesky's music in this video! One of my favorite artists.
Thank you Justin, love your content. Waiting on new podcast.
Great content
I love portable projectors and am looking forward to them getting cheaper before purchasing one.
I just ordered mine it's on sale for 600 now 🙌
Very versatile, I like it.
@lol stole your comment
Why didn’t you show the tv screen copy feature?
Can you connect to external bluetooth speakers?
FREESTYLE!!
Also consider the Xgimi Halo+.
Can you connect an Apple TV 4K via HDMI?
Great Video! When's the new podcast episode?
Can somebody please tell me what movie/TV series that is at 5:24 ?
I do not see AirPlay 2 on the specs... is it compatible with AirPlay??
This is very cool! Great overview of features. I think the top mounted projected on table mount has many applications. I can see this integrating nicely with Dex so you don't even need to connect a physical m+kb to it.
Yea excited to try out the bulb function
Can it connect with bigger bluetooth speakers? Or integrate with a google assistant speaker setup in the whole home?
I also want to know if you can connect it to a bluetooth speaker like a bose soundbar.
Wireless headphones with long battery life would be a great addition.
Can you Bluetooth a speaker?
Can it play MKV files from external hard drive?
Curious how it fares in terms of temperature and battery life. Having that small form might mean some compromises in those areas.
No built in battery. One is sold separately. Out the box its powered by usb type c .
Also the separately sold battery doesn’t snap or connect to the the freestyle directly so it’s heat output still wouldn’t effect it.
@@travismcleod5078 ooh got it
What is the lifespan of the LED?
Awesome projector. Just killed it for me tho with no type of audio output. For how small it is. I thought they would have included at least an aux port
same, no way would I be able to watch movies or shows with all the sound coming from that tiny Alexa style speaker behind my head. they really missed there.
You can connect soundsystems e.g. via Bluetooth, I think even via AirPlay should be possible.
@@TAU_ The website says nothing about external sound devices. In fact the only information it gives on sound output is an attempt to rave about the internal speakers. Regardless, people who use a surround sound system, i.e. pretty much everybody who uses a projector in their household, can not do so with this device. This is certainly no Projector replacement.
@@ripF5C It lists bluetooth audio in the specs. If you can hook a pair of bluetooth headphones to their TVs it makes sense you could do the same here. Im not sure why some big important projector user would want to use something like this anyway. The specs aren't home theater-y, more like an on the go type of person. When I had a cheap projector, I took it to hotel rooms during my travel, and used it for quick setups if I was doing dishes or something like that around the house with no TV nearby. Of course $900 isn't exactly cheap, but its not expensive in projector land either. Having access to a "big screen" experience without dedicating a room of your home to it is a nice feature as well. I recently downgraded from 65" TV to a 50" just because its so much more portable. Its easy to carry around if I want to move it around the house or rearrange furniture, and it slips right into my car. The 65" was a beast to move around. I change my living layout probably once every 3 months, so I could see value in this. Dont think I'll get it though, maybe some day
@@CrunchyTire Congratulations. You just wasted a shit ton of time typing a book that still doesn't justify this pos. You're incredibly ignorant if you think Samsung designed this for people "on the go". The application is clearly geared towards Apartments, Dorms, Tiny homes, etc. In which case I'd almost never be watching anything alone... Like It doesn't have unlimited Bluetooth channels dude? It has two. Meaning a phone and suuuure, a SINGLE pair of headphones, so that's not happening. And literally nobody watches media on a TV with headphones on anyway. And I promise you the most dogshit 2022 model of TV has better speakers than this thing. So again, if my only options to watch TV is via a fucking Alexa speaker, or Headphones, it is quite literally worthless.
Good review man...
Thank you!
Freestyle's 500 LED lumens don't seem that bright to me. I'm considering the XGIMI Halo+.
Question!? will you build a website for major..... Skip.
Freestyle!
Does it have bluetooth?
Looks like a giant Apple iSight standalone camera. Anyway, it's a cool product
Is it Apple friendly? Is there a way to use is via my Pc to take advatage of my speakers?
Still waiting to see the answer to this question. I'm so "on the fence" with whether or not to pre order.
Well it does support Apple Airplay.
I seen another video where someone said it does support Bluetooth so you can send the audio to 3rd party speakers.
nice
Do more condo tours! Furnishing my first place and your tours are inspos
Huge one coming 👀
@@JustinTse glad you’re In BC, and I can actually cop some stuff in Toronto
Freestyle looks great. But I prefer Halo+'s auto obstacle avoidance.
I really liked the video, It went very in-dept. I would like to see a months or 2 months update if possible like how it has done after some months. whether it had any sinds of over heating if it did connect properly after sometimes, you know the basics.
Yea, would love to check it out with the accessories once availible
@@JustinTse Thank you for the reply and the great contents I wish you a wonderful year 🥰🥰
Is this item worth the price they are charging?
Just 830g but £999 (or $). A very non-critical review about the price and cost of the extra accessories. Loads of ultra portable projectors which have auto keystone and incorporate batteries!
What are those cool black shelves behind you? We’re those in another video?
Wayfair
I can confirm that this is not just a “millennial” product.
Great to see how portable projectors continue to improve.
I need this in my life great video hope I win a giveaway from your channel
Freestyle)
Keren
How good is it with light room. Only shown with a highly dimmed room
like any projector and especially smaller ones it does perform best in the dark (bedroom etc) but at closer distances (50-70” image) was quite solid.
Don't listen to him. It is awful in bright rooms. It has 1/3 of the brightness as competitors lmao. That's why at CES they only showed it in a dimmly lit room, and even then it got immediately washed out.
Freestyle
Sucks it doesn’t have a built in battery but costs $400 more than portable projectors with built in batteries 😐
Exactly. Horrible price point.
An idea that’s is already out there. But I would hope the quality of viewing is increased dramatically, as a lot of other units that are a lot cheaper already do this. (I’m guessing rrp will be north of $1000au)
But as always the Samsung name kills this product as there after service or any problems you have with the device will fall on deaf ears. I would wait for a more superior brand to make one.
Oooo
freestyle
This would be perfect to mount on the ceiling above my bed and point to the wall as my bedroom tv but any dates I bring home might think it’s a camera and that I’m recording sex tapes because it literally looks like a camera. Guess I’ll sit in on a floating shelf above the headboard and just point the projection lens out of sight 😂😂
The only thing missing is internal battery to make it rechargeable
That comes as an external attachment
Fancy looking, but no thank you i will choose XGIMI
Only 230 ANSI lumens. And no internal battery at all ( needs to be powered all the time). At half the price, maybe can consider, certainly not at retail
Also. How is it "holographic"? Head scratcher
$1150 CAD retail, $1200+ after-tax at only 1080p resolution. Not worth it atm IMO.
"freestyle"
Small compared to what?!?!
Ovrrpriced no build in battery - cool but overpticed
Yeah it's amazing, but for 900$ yikes.
The projector I bought for 45$ second hand almost achieves everything that this can do. I'm okay with it being a lit heavier and harder to set up for just fraction of the price.
the price makes it not worth it, there are way better options out there with better prices
1080p for almost $1000. No.
Wtf. Why would you burn you LED life of a 700$ projector by using it as an ambient light. Buy a 20$ smart light.
Great projector but it is overpriced and I have changed my mind about buying it.
Wait...so i can connect my ps4 and ps5 and lets just say soundbar to that projector btw im high asf and in hospital
The lumens are extremely terrible, you have to see the clear picture in a totally dark room, this one is not practical at all, we want high ansi lumens, e.x. 2000~3000, high contrast, e.x. 1: 1,000,000, fast frame rate, e.x. 120hz, at least 1920x1080 physical resolution, 10bit colors, this Samsung prototype can't achieve one of the criteria, making it is just a hype and useless, you know 🙄
No battery, not bright overpriced
Seriously overpriced...
Junk I have 2 of them
One plays all movies and shows in black and white and the other one stopped working after 3 days
Junk junk junk
