The Battle of Berlin has been compared to Stalingrad and there are similarities like the desperate street to street, house to house, street to room to room fighting but the scale of the Battle of Stalingrad was far greater then Berlin. Despite the fact that the Defenders of Berlin had serious inferiority across the board, they still made it quite difficult and costly for the Red Army to take the city. The Russians had to punch through 3 defensive rings like the infamous battle of "Seelow Heights" which cost over 40,000 Russian casualties alone. The final stand showed that WW2 in Europe was not going to end with a whimper. The German defenders were able to utilize some effective strong points like the Ministry of the Interior, the Gestapo Headquarters, and Tempelhof airport, and yes the Reichstag itself, which was a real pain in the ass for the Red Army to take. The Germans had a strong defensive line with trenches and other makeshift fortified positions with whatever tanks were left and some strong anti tank guns like flak 88s and also had support fire from two additional flanking strongholds, the Berlin Zoo Flak Tower and the Kroll Opera House. And even after entering the Reichstag the Russians still had to punch through room by room (especially the basement) before planting their flag on the rooftop.

maybe an idea for next time. but tank trap around buildings and walls so they cant just drive right into them. this can create a firm choke point where every armored tank will have to force themself into one point and just choke the rest out.

From what I read about World War II, on the Eastern Front, the rules of the Geneva Convention were ignored in regards to fair treatment of POWs. Apparently the USSR never attended the pre-war Geneva Convention, and did not abide by the Convention's rules. Germany abided by the Conventions rules, with the exception of captured enemy commandos from the Western Allies and the soldiers of the USSR.

Would Germany be able to push back the Soviets into Warsaw and get a truce and then reinforce the western front and taking it back? Could that have happened?
