I once got a marketplace deal for a boxed complete Mint NES with a bunch of games and a Master System 1 with a load of games, some of which were pretty rare heavy hitters. Paid the seller double what they were asking for the lot and I still got a amazing deal. If I know I'm getting a deal I'll usually pay over asking. I was always brought up with the mindset that you get back what you give out. Worked out pretty well so far.

Giving what they are asking is on the seller. If you feel like they are way under priced you could offer more but that could have weird consequences. "Well how much are they really worth?"
What I find deplorable is asking for a lower price when you know it's a great deal. Saw something like this from someone on another UA-cam channel. Pursuing the Correct Cost. Stopped watching after that. The discount wasn't much on an already crazy low price but it was the principle.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but when I get a N64 game that someone wrote on back in the day I like leaving it on the game. I feel like it adds character and its part of that specific games history. Especially when its the name of the owner. I had my name on all my games back than.

If I have anything extra to give and the seller is OK with letting stuff go for a small amount I'm always willing to give an increased amount, especially when people hold stuff for me and let me check it out before I hand them the money.
Moat recently picked up a big PS1/PS2 lot with about $400 worth of games. The lady held it for 2 days and let me go through everything and only wanted $50. I had $80 ok me and gave her the extra $30.
It was a good haul, considering out of the 40-50 games and consoles I kept about a dozen games for myself and made a profit on what I didn't need.
She said she didn't care about it since it was her ex husband's and he had over a year to come pick it up 😅

  • @Lord_Mangoat
    @Lord_Mangoat 3 місяці тому

It sounds like the seller had no attachment to the games and just wanted to be rid of them quick in a single lot. To get top dollar for things, you'd have to go about price checking each one, testing, cleaning, and hunting for a buyer for each one. Selling them all for so cheap in a single sale would save them time from doing all that.

I once bought a copy of Ninja Combat for the AES for $75 on Facebook Marketplace. When I got the cart it was unlabeled and when I plugged it in, it didn't work. I assumed I got ripped off but just incase I opened the cart and saw that it was an official PCB. I tried a little harder to clean it and when I plugged it back in I saw that it was Metal Slug (they had listed 3 games that included Metal Slug and Ninja Combat), I was tempted to just keep it but every thing in my collection was either a gift, something from my childhood or something I found out in the wild (ie, something with a story behind it). I figured that the seller had just made a very expensive mistake and the right thing to do was to message them and let them know. Unfortunately whoever they shipped the Ninja Combat to didn't feel the same way (the seller refunded me the $75 and I dropped the Metal Slug off at their house). At least I feel good about sending out some good into the retro community. Still haven't found a copy of Ninja Combat that cheap though :)

'I've got mouth's to feed'. I'm always wary of people who use that line. People on here saying it's the responsibility of the Seller to know their product and the price. Up to a point. If they are dangerously low balling their own product it is the duty of the buyer to educate them otherwise it's just as good as, at worst, stealing, at best, taking advantage of someone. That's my opinion. So many grifters commenting on here. I'm sure if the roles were reversed and you sold something for a ridiculously low price you would soon be getting lawyered up once you knew how low-balled you had been, crying to your lawyer how the 'nasty person' had taken advantage of you. So have some empathy and practice what you preach.

I’m all down to help out and being fair but we get cought up on monetary value a little too much sometimes. Sometimes people just want the stuff out of their house they don’t care how much it sells for hence why they don’t put the effort to find out how much it sells for. Sometimes people know how much it sells for but they don’t want to go through the trouble of selling it. We see this every week on some form or another. Value is at times subjective and relative. I think it’s cool he gave her more but I also wouldn’t have hold it against him if he didn’t. It is nice to be nice though

I would have likely given the 100 she was asking for. I feel like people should not be rewarded for their lack of research/effort in a sale.

They posted it they had the opportunity to look up everything if they wanted to. I would’ve taken it for the offering price which is amazing deal and that’s why we do this.

considering the work the put into cleaning the games , knowing their worth + the time and gas money to pick them up. I'd pay 250$, unless you knew they would spend it unwisely!

I would have given her 120 first off collecting is expensive if I can get pieces for my collection for cheap I will second off I wouldn't be selling anything and making an insane profit soi wouldn't feel bad

Shopping cart theory. Tells you more than you'll ever need to know about his character, as well as all the commenters defending him paying that little to someone who very clearly didn't know what they had. Do better, be better.

I live in the UK and when it's bootsale season if I'm out hunting toys then I pay what's asked of me if I see it fair , altho if I go to buy something and it's a child selling to buy more toys then I have no problems with giving extra , at the end of the day it's a life lesson they learn and it's obvious to me if the parent is letting the child price and sell their items then they are already off to a good start😊, games are hard as our second hand stores now charge a flat £10 rate in anything mainstream Nintendo even if its essential worth pounds , they now employ people to ebay stuff so rarely does a gem slip thru the cracks , unfortunate for me yes but I've had plenty of happy years hunting before the change 😊

I always pay the asking price if its a good deal. If they came up with that number, there is no shame in accepting it. Now if you lowball someone with a low offer or counter offer then you are a scum bag...lol

Pay them the asking price. Reap the low buy cost of the games and enjoy them. Or reap the rewards

I found a cib gameboy game while looking through a lady’s collection. She had no idea it was worth 2-300$; ended up giving her about 150 after letting her know it was worth more than the $10 she was asking

You have to resell stuff...that takes time and the right buyer. Some people would rather the quick buck then do all of that. That said, there is a big difference in games vs some old lady not realizing her late husband car was worth millions in terms of robbery.

Do you have an online store? If your sitting on so product why not sell online too? I’m sure you have items that I would love to buy but can’t because I can’t shop in person at your store.

I'm of the mind that if you pay what they want, then it's fair. Sometimes you win and some times you lose so, so take the wins when you can and mouths to feed is as good a reason as any.
