Another excellent video. Well done to both of you. I was born in South Africa but no longer live there but in my parents home land but my heart will always be in that beautiful land with its amazing people.
Aussie here; Thank you so much for showing South Africa to us. I really love seeing this beautiful country through your eyes and it generally takes me 2 hours to watch every hour of content because I am following your adventures on Google Earth. I know a bit about SA history, having both an interest in the country and South African friends that now live in Australia. To me Orania is so important. It's not just a town but a new beginning for the Afrikaner people. To me Orania is a place where native Afrikaners can once again be a majority in their own land and have their own schools, church and language protected. History has shown that these people were forced out of Europe 500 years ago in search of freedom and settled in Southern Africa, only then to be pushed inland by the English colonisers to start again in the interior. Hopefully this new start will mean the end of constantly having to move to live in freedom and protect their unique culture. Again, thank you for your wonderful tours of this beautiful country, which reminds me so much of my own.
What a blessing, there seem to be no tv. Congratulations to the people of Orania. God bless you. You could be an example to us, the disappearing German nation.

We just had to go, you know that! We were just on the other side of the Orange and we just couldn't be so close to Orania and not pay it a visit. We were really pushed for time on this day though and had to eat and drink on the fly, so we didn't manage to visit the hotel or the pub, but they're on our list for next time we're in town. We actually thought of you as we drove through and stood on Monument Hill. We knew that we wouldn't be able to visit a tenth of the places you did, but I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed our short visit and that all those fantastic memories came flooding back. Although we couldn't stay as long as you did, the town and especially its people made an. impression on us. We're used to people waving to us on gravel roads, but for a town, this was incredible. From a factual basis, the average South African had a better quality of life under Apartheid. This includes our black borthers who had jobs, access to clinics and a median income higher than the UN average for Africa at the time. It was a system with some flaws, sure, but it's entirely moronic to act like people are better off today in a South Africa where different people with different values are forced to coexist or else.

I was a biology/science teacher at Hopetown from 1985 to 1987 and eventually married a beautiful Hopetown girl. We were happily married for 34 years until she passed away after a long illness. All the high school students from Oralia attended Hopetown High School. The building of the then Van Deer Kloof Dam and irrigation canals were completed when I arrived. So the project was initiated and completed under the governance of the National Party. No matter what happens with Orania, whether it remains it’s current size, or grows to a city, the Orania people has already succeeded in their goals and did pretty well at it.
Thank you for sharing those memories with us. For us, it was fantastic to see the town growing and so many new houses being built. The empty plinth on Monument Hill has been reserved for Marthinus Steyn, for whom a bust is still being sought. You guys seem so nice, like innocents wandering the world in wonder. I like the way the woman was so concerned about driving a bit on 'private property'!
I'm Black and I honestly don't see an issue. My understanding is that they don't mind anyone visiting though they just won't let anyone who isn't Afrikaans residing to preserve their culture. it doesn't matter the skin colour. They are thousands of villages across Africa who doesn't accept foreign migration though they are tolerant to visitors. This is no exception. These people are white Africans just as there is black Americans etc. But then again media will divide us in the name of racism as they have done for decades. To me they appear to be a peace loving community just just like the bushman in Botswana.

The cleanliness & order is like a breath of fresh air....
Astounding....
Smacks of familiarity of a Life we once knew...
It was great to have you along for the drive through Orania! 🤩🚗
Gm any place for me.
Beautiful cominity indeed, i salute you ,your so peaceful and graced by God.
Aussie here;
Thank you so much for showing South Africa to us.
Governance of the people, for the people, by the people. Excellent.
Really impressed by what you guys have done in this part of the world when mostly everything else is South Africa is either destroyed, pillaged or exploited by undeserving individuals.
Well done Orania!
We salute you.
We appreciate you taking a drive through the town of Orania with us. 🙂🚗
May God bless you Orania🙏❤❤
Undeserving Individuals? You mean the locals? The blacks? Well, Its their country, you are the ones that went there not they to europe so why are you talking about who deserve and who not? When am in a stranger house i dont talk bad about their way of living, i just go if i dont like it !!!
You obviously have a chip on your shoulder, maybe you are one of the fools who feels entitled or something similar. Unfortunately it is obvious that you are totally oblivious as to what is going on in South Africa at the moment. Maybe if you took a day off and educated yourself regarding the country and it's inhabitants (And also your grammar usage and spelling.), you would sing a different tune. Or you can take the shortcut and ask to be dropped off at Athlone settlement at any time. Unfortunately I cannot waste any more time on stupid people. Have a good day. @@RicardoSantos-cu2rs

Wow!!! Look at that, gravel road with no potholes, amazing
I detect a hint of sarcasm and, if so, it's really not welcome on our channel! 🤷♂️ We travel for enjoyment and try and focus on the positives which remain in small-town South Africa, as can clearly be seen on the other 300+ videos on our channel.
@DustBugs Travel : Lighten up. Where is your sense of humor, how is it sarcasm?.
I was comparing the road you were traveling on, which is not tarred to the ones that are tarred with large potholes in SA which are in dire neglect.
However, I think you need to read it carefully in the context I wrote it rather than who wrote it.
@@ramennaidoo162 Your reply is noted and appreciated. I did qualify by saying if it were meant sarcastically, so I'm happy that it wasn't! It's nice be there alone guys where there's peace and harmony. No stealing, vandalism and many strikes. We blacks will remain here with our disgusting lifestyle
i take my hat off to these brave people.
From everything I have heard and seen about Orania over the years they are a peaceful community who have zero issues with anyone. People need leave their intentions of race and language behind and just embrace them, they have never stopped anyone from visiting them or seeing their town or experiencing their culture. We are literally limiting ourselves with our own boundaries, if you get the opportunity go there and see for yourself and please stop posting negative comments on a community and people based on what you've heard or your own biased tendencies!
Looks can be deceiving
Orania pay taxes, and votes in the general elections. While Zulu only areas like Jozini in Natal does not pay taxes, does not produce anything, receives welfare checks each month, while their local kings are paid about a million Rand each per month.
You are so right. Reminds all of us what South Africa used to be, 30 years ago😢😢😢
@@Deontjielmao Zulu people should not have to pay taxes to live on Zulu land. There is no such thing as Afrikaaners land sure they can live there and have a town based on their culture but they absolutely should pay taxes for the land they are renting
@@WrestlingGuy19Zulu people should not pay taxes to live in Zulu land. But if they want to drive on roads. then someone must pay for those roads. Someone must pay for our defence force. If you want to vote, then someone must pay for those officials and the ministers. Your Zulu kings gets a huge salary from our government. Does that money fall out the sky? Zulu people are also immigrants to South Africa, just depends how far back you go in history. The Koi-San was the only original inhabitants. Orania was bought from the ANC government. If you buy something, does it then not belong to you?
Wow , beautiful and clean , this is how my country looked like in the era of National party government , I mean you will never drop a piece of paper , thanks to ANC and it's followers . I wish Eastern Cape could be the same , well done Oranians keep it safe and clean .
Thank you for watching our video of our visit to Orania. The town was indeed very clean and neat, which was great to see! 👌🏻🚗
It is easy to manage a small town with less than 4000 people.. I do not see what is impressive here
OMG..you went!!! I am about to fall out of my wheelchair (bad stroke in February) and fighting back tears!! I wish you guys had gone to the Ouver Hotel restaurant and had lunch on their deck overlooking the Orange River. I wish you guys had a Windhoek Lager at the Zebra and said hello to my friend Janu who was waiter/bartender. Everyone waved at me and I mean everyone!! I went in Betsy's house and I saw you were on monument hill. Speed bumps everywhere. I had the best time of my life there. Thank you guys, I managed to keep the car on the left side of the road and the airport building was under construction when I was there 2 years ago. Thank you guys so much for this, with fondness and love, Greg, Springfield, Louisiana..ps I had the best time of my life with the locals!!
Not a single car or bicycle passed us by without waving, greeting or stopping to chat. 😁🚗
Not airportbuilding but hospital.
I am not surprised that Orania is expanding. People are tired if grime and grift happening in the rest of the country
My visit to Orania was awesome me and friends stay in caravan park while travelling with motorcycles. Gave an old lady lift on bike and she was full of smiles and laughter but my best surprise was in the ablutions when a young lady came in and wanna clean inside we ended up talking for almost an hour how she end up in Orania can truly recommend a visit

I made a detour to get there while on route to Cape town. Orania was so lekker ! So neat and tidy, lots of new construction. Everyone waved at me. A local couple took me for coffee..... What a lekker experience! Must go back for a stay over 👍

I wonder if the welcome would be the same if it was me, a black person. Just wondering.

Preserving Apartheid 😡

The irrigation canals that we crossed over on the gravel road were super impressive and even more so now that I know they've been around for such a long time. We also visited Vanderkloof and the Dam on our trip and you can look forward to that video soon! We appreciate you watching! 🚗😁
