    Okay, I understand what you're saying about the ATS isn't "rejecting" your application, but what it is doing is ranking applications based on words, so if one recruiter is receiving 700 applications for one job, they are most likely not going to sit and read 600+ of the applicants who make it through the system. They are going to use the top ranked candidates first, which essentially has the same effect as rejecting you if your resume doesn't hit all the right words - regardless of how good a fit you might be for the job.

    I've been applying and using these scan sites, making sure my match scores were high. I have not been invited for one interview. So I will try these tips and see if it makes a difference. Thank you so much

    Excellent advice.
    I hired a resume writer for my current job search (unemployed for 4 months now, ugh) and he followed all these rules - except for formatting. I'm about to retype it because it fails the cut and paste into a plain text document test.

      Thank you! Good catch on the cut and paste taste - and best of luck with your job search!

    Hi, I have been following you for awhile, in the past, I worked on my resumes to be aesthetically pleasing. However, in business school, creating resumes with color or a personality isn't recommended. Has your view on resumes evolved since 2 years ago? It's all about the ATS in business school not the aesthetics, even though I am an aesthetics person.

    • @BadassCareers
      @BadassCareers  8 місяців тому +1

      Hey! My views on resumes are the same - it is possible to include colour, columns and PDF format and STILL get past the ATS. The best test for this is to highlight and copy the text from your resume, then paste it into a Word/Google doc. If the text shows up as text, you're good to go!

    Hi Badass, I've written my resume over many times and still receive rejection emails. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

    Would you get rejected if you put a high salary expectation but its within the pay range of what the job description states in the pay section?

    Is it true a resume should not contain any images or graphics in order not to confuse the ATS? I found this mentioned a lot online, but it seems it is ok to use visuals as long as they are not a substitution for weitten content?
    Another advice is to use exclusively one of the 4 suggested fonts (Arial, Calibri, Helvetica or Giorgia). Is this correct or can we use another font as long as it is an equally readable, clean looking, quality font?
    Thanks 🙏

    • @BadassCareers
      @BadassCareers  9 місяців тому

      Happy to help! Your first point is true - always make sure any graphics are ALSO communicated in writing. As for the font - those are 4 great options, but you can choose any that you like! As long as the text is clear and readable, you're good to go. No crazy fonts like Curlz MT, but even then that's not because the ATS can't read it - just because it doesn't look very good / professional! 😅

    I'm black and I apply as a white man or woman to even get in the door. What advice does anyone have after 100 plus revisions and being unemployed for nearly a year, Im at wit's end. What am I missing? I've to only had 1 interview and that person decided to hire internally. I've included and/or taken away profile summary, core strengths, work history, keywords, additional skills, education, etc and nothing. I have even been told I have no work value after ten years of experience. If anyone has anything new to suggest please let me know.

    Excellent points. My only disagreement is not using an ATS tool like jobscan to help with the job search. ATS is so widely used these days that you would be at a disadvantage and essentially flying blind by not using a tool to verify your resume includes key words from the job description.

    I have seen resumes of top SDE 4 in google employees and they have a resume score of less than 50 literally these websites are a piece of shit and craps.

    Hold up. You said the most important thing is to not obsess over the ATS system, and to avoid sites (like Jobscan) that are just trying to sell me something. Then you proceed to link your site for ATS friendly resumes for a price. Who are you trying to fool?
