- The Abandoned Paper Mills & Abandoned Railroad Tracks Of Hamilton Ohio. Norfolk Southern Train On CSX Tracks With Panel Car. This Odd Railroad Car Says Do Not Hump & Has A Section Of Switch Track On It. Have You Ever Seen This? CSX Trains Including A Caboose With Caboose Whistle. Have You Ever Heard A Caboose Whistle? These Trains Are In Hamilton, Ohio On The CSX Toledo Sub.
Someone asked about getting a closer look at the abandoned paper mill buildings so here you go. I Was also able to see inside one of the gigantic buildings. We see where the railroad tracks and spurs used to be. I remember when covered hopper cars and boxcars were spotted on these industrial spurs.
I went to the famous Heaton Street RR Gate Runners section of town. There are huge mill buildings on both sides of the road. You can still see where the railroad track was and there are pieces of track here and there. Look how small the rail was on one of the sidings! It looked like rail that you would see inside of a mine, it was so small. How many pounds per yard is it?
I was able to get one runner when a train was coming. The first train is a Norfolk Southern mixed freight using the CSX tracks. This train has the panel car loaded with a section of switch track. I thought it was pretty cool.
The next train was an Auto Racks train headed northbound. No runners this time. Lol. The last train is the good ole Hamilton caboose Live Action crew. This is a local switching crew and they use the caboose as a shoving platform. It is safer for the crew to stand on a caboose platform instead of on a freight car when doing long reverse moves. You have seen this caboose in my videos many times. It is really awesome to see it in use and is a Railfan magnet in the Hamilton area. If you know where there is a caboose still in regular use on a freight train please leave a comment below. Leave a comment below about anything. Comments help my channel and I love reading them.
Don't forget to see what the Live Action Pets are doing and check out the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed May 31, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

A big thank you for taking the time to go to the other side of the building and showing us the rusty rail relics. Weeds and foliage plus pavement have covered quite a bit but one can still catch traces in some places. I think you're right about the bees leave the signal box closed. It also looks like a lawn mower has snagged some of the switch stand and time plates. From the single car era shipments you go just several hundred feet where you catch the unit trains and the new high capacity Freight cars. Then we had Tweety the Caboose coming back in with the way freight and the combination of acids and empty frozen potato cars. Hopefully Brandi will let you use the sofa to stretch out later this afternoon. Here's to the Dads and enjoy your Father's Day
Those old buildings make the perfect backdrop for the trains there! 👍 Happy Father's Day Jawtooth and everyone!

My dream is to see those empty buildings become the center for manufacturing of 'something'. Such grand buildings rotting away is one of the saddest things to watch.
One the the best things to watch is any Jaw Tooth video! All your videos are fabulous!

Was cool, as was the vintage PanAm car. 😎 I enjoyed seeing the old rail and the side of the old paper mill we hadn't seen. I'm a history buff of sorts. The articulated auto racks were interesting, too. I remember when you could see into the auto racks, the slats were so far apart. Thanks, JT! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤

I remember when that was the Main line in the early 80s before they built the underpass on high Street! I know there's a pic of what it look like before the construction of the bridge.

Very cool!
Outstanding day in Hamilton, JT. Really appreciated your "tour" of those beautiful old paper mill buildings...what a wonderful part of the "cityscape". And...what a fabulous "backdrop" -- between @8:45 and @14:25 -- for that manifest train. Excellent camera "angle", there... 👌👌
Hi JT Happy Father's Day! Interesting find that old track. What a shame all those businesses are closed. Must have fed a lot of families back in the day. Interesting train. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it

The trains that you caught in Hamilton, Ohio were interesting to watch, Jaw Tooth! I have seen similar track panels cars like the ones on the first train in this video. Thank you for the railroad archaeology that you brought to us in this video. I found the exploration of the various tracks and spurs informative.
Thanks for watching!
Cool Video! Happy Father's Day!
Thank you!
JT ive just see the do not hump car on a CSX train heading to Virginia! 😊
Nice
Thanks
Informative review and I wasn't aware WP was the only class one railroad to purchase the 5077 boxcar. Learn something new every day.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Isn't it great to have the ability to see former railroad tracks, roads and other features in the landscape? You can see old crossings and streetcar lines that most people take for granted.
When I first started taking Amtrak to go up north, I saw where the former Virginian Railway Main Line used to cross the CSX North End Subdivision in Jarratt, Virginia. That was turned into an industrial spur too. Now that spur is inactive.
Hi Jaw Tooth!
(1) it’s great to see on any NS CSX or any train rolling stock from fallen flags.
Those railroads don’t exist corporate wise anymore but rolling stock still exists from them.
(2) That rail you showed next that old building can’t be any more than 50
I bet those now abandoned buildings were really humming back in the day.
Great video!!
Have a great day!!
Happy father's day jaw tooth, awesome video again.
Thanks so much
Appreciate when you give tours of the area you're filming and your home property too! Fantastic video JT!
P.S. They seriously have to give that caboose a horn instead of that whistle!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Glad you like them!

Thank you! Will do!
Nice job my good friend 👍
Thank you 👍
Saw 2 panam box cars on train in Thurmond last week
cool stuff .
Thanks!
I wonder how much the profits of companies that make spray paint would be lost if tagging stopped.
Most of it is stolen probably, so they would actually make more money
awesome video!
Thanks!
This video is really cool 😊
Omg what is the hurry lol why is that crossing always have runners?!?!? Also Brian thank you for showing the abandoned siding that used to be the main line A+ video as always 😊
Thanks for watching!
Nice film Brian 👍
Thanks 👍
Back in the day, what is now CSX in Hamilton was B&O, and what is now NS was the Pennsylvania. The paper mill in question was the Beckett Paper Mill. That neighborhood was the site of many big manufacture's up until the 1960's including Bendix, Ford, Niles Tool Works, Baldwin/Lima/Hamilton locomotives and Champion Paper. The Augsperger Road crossing north of Hamilton in New Miami was the site of Armco Steel's Coke plant that supplied the Middletown Works. Unfortunately, Hamilton, as many midwest industrial cities that were in their glory during that time fell prey to modern technology and has become part of the rust belt.
Happy Fathers day Brian aka Jaw Tooth
Thanks so much
Thank You Jaw Tooth Happy Father's Day son! Live Action Inc.
Same to you!
Saw on the news this morning that one of those paper mill buildings burned down.
Happy Father's Day to all.New switch panels.
Oh yeah!
Hey Jaw Tooth, you really need to put that "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" phrase on a t-shirt 👕.
I will do that some day
Come to Lexington Kentucky!!🙌🙌
I really need to. I haven't been there in a long time. I used to live on Waller Ave right next to the railroad crossing in those condos. I was on the top floor in the corner with a perfect view of the railroad

When the auto racks are tagged do you think some spray paint gets on the autos?
Hey JT, do you remember when automobiles were carried in open auto racks?
those buildings were the Hamilton shops of Baldwin Lima Hamilton, they made steam engines and ships propellors till the late 60s was Niles machine, American Machine, Hooven Owens &rentschler and Lima Hamilton before merge with Baldwin. that whole empty 2 blocks were part of it. B&O and Pensylvania ran through town one block apart until High st underpass in late 60s B&O closer to river Both my Grandfathers worked for B&O and I worked for CSX.
Thanks for the info! I would like to find more info about the steam engines being built. That would be good for a video
@@JawTooth They had rights to Corlis steam engines and built duel fuel double acting industrial engines. One is on display at the Henry Ford museum used to power one of his plants two story tall flywheel. They also built the propellers for the SS United States, 24 feet tall one piece bronze cast and machined in the Hamilton shop.
Happy father day
Happy Father's Day J.T. Thanks for the Heaton St.video.I used to work in this area and it always had the best drivers Hamilton has to offer. 😅😅😅😅
I want the little switch shed. How many of those are abandoned on derelict properties? Ill help you load the rail if you help me load the shed. Lol. Bring a Sawzall to get that pole box.
