There was a video by someone who had purchased the penholder version of the Stiga Cybershape. I fully understand your excellent analysis and they are mostly accurate. However, with the Penhold version only 79 grams versus the slightly heavier Shakehand version. Also given that the larger head sweet spot is only 9% instead of 11% compared to the regular shaped paddle, would the negative aspects of short serve receives, touch shots, short plays plus flips be a bit less than the Shakehand? Anyhow, most of the sales of the Cybershape are mostly shakehand. With Truls Moregard's unique playing style, the Cybershape definitely suited him well. This is why with the expensive 210 Euro price for the blade and 100 Euro more for the recommended Stiga DNA Dragon Rubbers and the special Stiga glue. That would be quite an investment to attempt getting even better at the game. Precisely, I would like to see the reactions of other coaches and players before I would consider to make such a purchase in the future. If you can get some ideas from penhold players who purchased this blade, I would love to hear their honest feedbacks, thank you.
Were did u read that the recommended rubbed is dna dragon. That's a super hard rubber and I've seen reviews with way less hardness and it has performed perfect.
I have the penhold version of Stiga Cybershape. I have to admit it feels weird to play and especially to serve with. However I win more games against my regular opponents with Cybershape compared to when I play with my conventional blades (Stiga Dynasty Carbon, Ma Lin Soft Carbon, Ma Lin Hard Carbon). Cybershape sweetspot gives me more confidence. Backhand flick with Cybershape is not a problem if one has the strength, it just requires some adjustment. Now I tend to overflick it with conventional blades. Cybershape is really nice for flat hits/slap shots. I play with Hurricane 8 on forehand and Hurricane 8-80 on backhand.
Expect nothing but an honest review!!! I wonder what a physicist says about it in terms of air resistance and other pertinent factors??? I am not a scientist but I think Stiga were going for something that they could market as cool. A lot of young people particularly will like the look of it. Mars Trugard is a good rep for it I am sure his being paid to use and promote it. Making the finals will help with that greatly Ps- thanks for wishing everybody a MERRY X-MAS!!!🎄
I am not a physicist by I would tend to think that a shape with more edges is less smooth on its property, like the best places to touch the ball will have a weirder surface. Also I think it acts weirdly on the vibration part I guess
Well can't really say u did an honest review of this blade. U didn't really try it besides bouncing a ball on it to hear the pitch sound. Hard to give an honest review just based on that.
The marketing departement of stiga deserves a price for the name 'cybershape'. I dont understand the patent; you probably could get the same result with a similar rounded shape instead of the hexagonal. Anyway good to see there is research and improvement going on. Good explanation.
Very good review. I'm not a professional but I do try to understand different blade and rubber combinations. In my non-professional opinion, too many people end up with a blade+rubber combination that is too aggressive for their potential level of play (where they really lose too much control). I would love to try a Cybershape blade but it's very expensive so I probably will not get one any time soon. I feel that with premium rubber on it, it would end up being something that took away too much control that I need based on my current level of play. From your review and what others have already said, I believe it would hurt my short game. Not saying I'm right, but I seem to have the best results with a top quality all-wood blade matched with premium rubber sheets (usually I choose 2.1 mm or 'max' rubber or both sides - inverted with high level of mechanical grip).
Moregard was just lucky he did not encounter any japanese or chinese player during the eliminations. FZD has battled all the way up and eliminated all the tough opponents in his group. Moregard had an easy way up.
@@ariqasadam199 yes. But the poster indicates that Moregard had slim chance if he were to face a Japanese. Which I don't agree with, seeing how they performed. The Chinese however, that's a different story.

If it's as much of an improvement as they say it is, surely other types of blade construction would benefit from the same shape. I suspect the rough handle is on purpose. So far, it has great publicity as Truls had an outstanding Worlds with it, and everybody is very interested in it. So, you can bet on all the other top models being made into this shape, then sold for like 100 dollars more than normal or something

Would be awesome having that blade in normal shape as comparison. The sweet spot of Cybershape is not bigger by its shape! That’s absolutely just about the veneers! The core strength is not bigger than Viscaria because the carbon layer more to the outer part means that the impact of the ball doesn’t penetrate the core that much. So there is more core power at Viscaria!

As a short pip player it depends how good the sweet spot is. Seeing as its smaller than most oversized blades I’m not sure how big that sweet spot will be. But if you flat smash sounds like you’ll enjoy it. But over 200 dollars is just plain stupid
Short pips depend on the stiffness and the dwell time of the blade. Not about the shape. Also short pips are very sensitive on the structure of the layers together.
If this is truly as what stiga has claimed with this cyber bag boasting a larger sweet spot , then isn’t this an unfair advantage against the conventional round blades ? ITTF should reassess if this blade should even be allowed!
The patent is the problem not the shape but I don't see it making any difference. I prefer Viscaria's small sweet spot because it makes me remember where to hit and learns me in consistency I hit in bad spot the blade failed the shot I remember I hit in the sweet spot the blade makes a blast I remember , other blades with bigger sweetspot makes me inconsistent , some time I hit further of the best spot and the feeling is the same but the shot is poor and I am confused why it fails is it the rubber is it me is it the weather is it the opponent spin ... Viscaria is great at making you better player by forcing you to be precise and clearly give you the finger when you are wrong.
Very true and excellent video. Most stiga blades are heavier than butterfly and also have rough and low quality handles. Btw Sir, can you tell me the adv and weakness of ZJK ZLC and the best playing style for it because I just got it last month and still not used to it.
@@PPKspb Agreed. Even the wood grains on most Stiga blades are highly visible. Not too well polished n smooth. Offers greater adhesion for the glued rubber to the face of the blade.
