I doubt he really cares about the glove. To horror fans, it’s this iconic thing, but to him, it’s just some prop he used at work. He probably doesn’t care if it’s the original or not.
@@_.-_Crimpy-_..-. Pretty much what most fans don't get lol. These actors maybe aren't as passionate about their favorite movies as they are lol. Still you're charging people money for a little piece of your time and autographs... i wouldn't say Robert was rude or anything here, but he could definitely have been a tad more attentive and treated that glove with a little more care. I was squirming when he was squeezing his hand into it.
The thing that always blew me about Englund is that he always played good guys before Freddy.....but he really took that dream monster character and ran with it.
Yeah, I understand. I've said it a hundred times - talking to a celebrity or actor at a convention is awkward as Hell. You have maybe 60 seconds, or less, to say everything you've been wanting to say for however many years, but you also don't want to come off as just another fanboy. It can't be helped, I guess, with the lines to meet them, but 9 out of 10 times you always end up feeling underwhelmed. Robert is very nice though and tries to entertain more than most.
The thing is, people or even the actor didn't care that much for the glove, cause you know....'it's just a glove' and it didn't really matter to them. But as for us the 'glove fan', we have different perspectives to the prop especially the one that is legendary
Have you ever worked in the film industry? back then nobody cared for the props value of any movie, Michael's mask in halloween is a perfect example 3 masks were made, and all 3 had rough treatment both during filming and after, this glove is the exact same way
That's cool. I believe you. It just sucks that such an iconic prop is loose upon the public without proof. I guarantee if He had the COA he could make a small fortune off of it. But it's still cool that a regular fan of the series own's it and not one of the Hollywood big wigs. Keep up the good work. I am still interested in the replica. Let me know when your not so busy.
I think the reason he seems to lose interest is that at 8.14 you hear him say "uh-oh" as if he thinks he's damaged the glove. He carefully takes it off and places it down and wants to move on . Was the glove ok afterwards?
It's purely a toy glove, Robert Englund is not a liar on any level the only ones that are liars are you guys that want people to believe the glove and things you got are original and authentic, only thing I see here truly original is your channel for being stupid
Entertainment Wizard Robert is either making up the story or is simply mistaken about what glove his agent has. Robert doesn't know as much as he thinks he does. I had him sign a rare photo of himself in Part 1 makeup and he said it was from nightmare 3. The photo came from Lou Carlucci's personal photos from 1984. Lou has also confirmed to Mike that it is in fact the original Hero glove.
Well Robert told me the glove he used from 1 and 2 he took from the set after part 2 and gave it to his agent but yes there could have been a secondary glove but there is also the possibility that Lou Carlucci's is mixing things up, the only way to know for sure is to get the glove you guy's have and get the one Robert has and take them to the designer and have him look at both to determine which or if both gloves are from the original film!
Entertainment Wizard The fact that no photos exist of this alleged prop that Robert took makes me question if it really exists. But Lou put some identifiers on the original glove that only he would know about and it would be impossible for an artist to put them there since they do not know about them. Lou never said what they were, but when Mike sent the photos of the glove to Lou, he said that the identifiers are there. There's no way that it's not the original Hero that Lou built in 1984. Only one Hero glove was made. I have over four hundred high res photos of the glove that Mike has and every single detail is there. The tiniest marking, imperfection in the metal, etc are present and they match perfectly to the original Hero glove. I should do a more in depth video showing these comparisons. It's absolutely the original Hero. No doubt.
it wasnt even the original glove attached though, so in theory the value is already lowered...plus what the fuck you trying to do with it sell it? or keep it?
I wouldnt be surprised if it was something he had heard before a thousand times w fake screen used props. And really itd be hard to recognize being that they used a few different 1s. Itd been smart to point out some distinguishing features like the fact the index was rewelded or the 1 bolt is bigger. I just dont think he believed ya , hell you hardly said anything really. I woulda been amped to show him or ask him to put it on ( which he did anyway ) plus you can tell hes in his casual mode glasses coffee autograph time lol.
Yeah hero props are to be the definitive prop. The other props used are usually lesser made for stunts and whatever. But the hero props were made with care and to how that item is supposed to look. It’s like the lightsabers. So many of the ones used during filming were close enough on screen but up close are vastly different and inferior
A "hero" prop is a filmmaker's term to refer to an item in a movie that if of the highest detail and functionality. Usually the most detailed props that are meant to be seen up close on screen. Say, for example, a machete being used by Jason Voorhees. The fully metal and sharp machete would be a 'hero' machete. Where as a plastic one would just be a 'stunt' machete. Etc...
love all the freddie kruger films but my favourite 1 haz 2b the dream warriors by far.robert englund iz a brilliant actor wud love 2c more of the nightmare on elm street films on tv
Robert is simply wrong. These snippets are directly from the guys who built the original glove: ua-cam.com/video/3L5WIORRmjQ/v-deo.htmlsi=wjiugpYYmlPdQXeC
Robert is a very cool dude. He just does these things often. I kept reading the comments prior to watching the video and I see "he seems so disinterested." Really? He stopped to talk about it, was trying his best to sign it in a place that he could even though I personally think Robert's signature should be on the outside of the glove (don't be so pretentious, his name is worth more than that glove that there were multiples copies of). And then he even tried putting it on and everything. He could have just tried his best to sign, made no comment on it and just gave it back.
I never seen someone mumble and bumble their way through an important conversation like this. Why didn't you open with Lou and Jim have both authenticated this glove instead of playing a game show "have you see this before?". Better yet, let Robert's handler know what you have so they can tell him beforehand and then you can have something other than a fleeting fan sign-my-crap interaction with him. Fail.
This was Mike's opportunity and I didn't want to impose. Also, Lou and Jim hadn't authenticated the glove at this point. When I saw that Mike wasn't saying anything to Robert about it, I decided to speak up when Robert handed the glove back. I was trying to be respectful of Mike since it was his glove and his arrangement. Needless to say, I was underwhelmed as well.
@@MiniatureMasterClassIn the end, Robert is so convinced that his agent has the original glove. He's told this story so many times how he took the original glove from the Part 2 set and his agent has had it ever since. That is absolutely not true. Either Robert is simply mistaken or he is BSing entirely. I presume it's the former. But we are 110% certain that it's THE original glove. I even just found out within the last 2 weeks of a detail that I had known about but I thought it was something that happened to the glove around Part 2's filming. Turns out it's been that way since it was first built. Lou has a specific memory about something that happened during the glove's construction that stands out in his mind that no one else would know about and it would therefore have been impossible to replicate. The moment Lou saw that particular detail, he immediately recognized it and even started getting a little emotional about seeing it again
@@MarkPetrieSLC The history of movie props is fascinating, especially ones that disappear or are stolen. I have a relative that worked on the set of Raimi's Spider-Man 2 when two of the stunt Spidey costumes got stolen. It was crazy. Thanks for sharing.
If if were me, and it was deemed to be the original, I would have showed up and given it to him. I personally think that is the “classy” thing to do. IMO, it should be with the man who really brought the character to life. If not him, then maybe Wes Craven RIP or Bob Shaye or Heather Langenkamp or somebody who is important to the franchise. In the process, if you offered it to him and he knew where the original went, he might say, “I’m flattered, but this is not the original. I have that one. But this is a great piece and you should keep it.” Just my thoughts.
I'm sure it's a replica, someone with enough time, skill and patience could make one, I bought my wife a dream warriors replica from neca and it looks pretty damn good
Yeah it really didn't get the acknowledgement from Robert that it deserved! Kind of a shame. BUT- what really matters is Mike has it, and Mark has duplicated it, so now fans like us can own a copy of the real deal!
Haha, this is hilarious. He had the prop right in his hands and he passes it off as just another of the thousands of replicas he signs. In his defense, you probably should have explained a little more that it was the real deal. I met him a few weeks ago, so I know how it is when you're being rushed through the line. I agree autograph sessions are so impersonal, and the fact you have to pay sucks.
It's not the original leather. The original leather is long gone. It's just a dummy leather glove to put the signatures on. The metal armature is the original, though. But I totally agree with you... I'm still upset that someone had Robert put his signature right on the front of the original Freddy sweater.
WOW $650! Just goes to show you the cool shit you can come across if your persistent. I scored my silicone mask brand new from WFX for $360 and about a year ago I seen someone selling a Freddy sweater on eBay with a New Line Cinema Tag on it. It sold for $112.
So it's the original Hero glove, but you don't know if from the first or second movie, and the glove is different? As in the glove part was changed out? That wouldn't make it the original. Robert didn't care, and that's obvious from this video. This video for his reaction was not worth it, and you should have spoken up. Paying that money, and when the moment comes, you kind of bitched out about it all. The amount of times he hears that what he's signing from the movies is the original, he could retire on that alone, if he got paid every time he heard that.
The same glove was used in both the first and second movies. The entire time, I kept thinking, "SAY SOMETHING, MIKE!" Then when Robert handed it back, I tried to at least say something without trying to intrude and hijack Mike's moment. I was a spectator trying to help but ultimately, it was up to Mike to make his presentation to Robert. I also was greatly disappointed in the interaction but in the end, we all knew what it was and after all is said and done, Robert really doesn't care much about props. He's an actor who performs. Robert even told me in another interaction at another convention that a photo of him from Part 1 (with the P1 makeup and sweater) was actually from Part 3. Robert is mistaken about a lot of the history of the movie props, unfortunately.
@mpetrie Robert seemed to be more in the zone of get in and out to keep the line moving. That it doesn't seem like he was interacting with the people in line much, and was just signing what the notes said to. And I'm sure the cost of this was up there. That's one thing about Cons that is somewhat of a turn off, when it's a quick to no real interaction from some of the guests. I get the point of based on the popularity of the guest, they want things to move quick, so everyone can potentially get their chance, but it kind of ruins the moment at the same time, when this may be the only time you ever get to meet that person.
THE SHOCK MONSTER it’s not the original glove because the original one his agent has behind Plexiglass and it’s lit up with red and green neon. It was never lost.
why does he still have this glove, it doesn't belong to him? It's stolen property that belongs to newline, so would it be ok for someone to steal one of his gloves and sell it on eBay?
Yeah these guys are either in possession of stolen goods, or they made a really good fake. Both Mark Petrie and Mike Becker make replica gloves and sell them. That's really odd and no coincidence either. Since this so called original glove doesn't even have the original leather glove part, it's as good as garbage. It's altered.
Because the way the guy described it made it sound like it was a REPLICA of the original glove. The dude never explained that it was the actual glove used in the movie (or so he claims...). I bet Robert signs over 100 replica gloves at those events, so of course he's not gonna do cartwheels over it.
I don't blame Robert his seen so many gloves at this things! And everyone probably says they have a one of one glove! And he doesn't care his just ther to sign things and keep the line moving! Sorry to be a dick about it but I'm sure it's probably right on with what I'm saying! I've been to these things before and they just want to keep the line moving....
Yea, he definitely wasn’t impressed. He probably sees thousands a day at a signing - unless it was the OG (and GE already has that one)he doesn’t much care. 😱
This is really, AMAZING..The ORIGINAL Hero glove?! That thing deserves to be in the smithsonian man!! Check out the AMAZING intro he did for me on my UA-cam!
That it not the original screen used glove if it was he stole it That's a porp replica of the original no one got the original inless he stolen it from the set of making the original movie.
He didn't steal it. It showed up unexpectedly at Heritage Auctions in 2009 and it was labeled as an "unfinished" Nightmare on Elm Street 5 glove. Mike found it on the website shortly after the auction ended and he contacted the website and asked if he could make an offer to the winner of the auction. They passed his offer on to the winner of the auction and it was accepted. The glove was then sent to Mike. A few years after I shot this video, Mike sold the glove to a high-end collector. This collector has connections and was able to sit down individually with both Lou Carlucci and Jim Doyle (these are the two guys that built the original glove for the 1984 film). They both examined the glove independently from one another and both of them have confirmed that it is in fact the glove they built back in 1984. They have both signed a Certificate of Authenticity as well. The glove now sits in the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA.
@@MarkPetrieSLC thats essentially what i was getting at..but could you imagine being him..just doing these conventions all the time...the amount of gloves he sees as well the amount of purell he goes through ;p

It doesn't matter anyways. If it was stolen off the set who ever owns it now is in possession of stolen property. Who ever does have it wouldn't be credible because there are no receipts or COA. So even if you do own the real original Elm Street glove it doesn't matter because you can't prove it.
@@mattb4518 it's still stolen. Doesn't matter how many years went by or who found it. If somebody steals the Mona Lisa and you find it years later you don't get to keep it. You'll go to jail for having stolen property. This glove belongs back with New Line Cinema or Robert.
It’s not the original glove because the original never had a weld mark bulging out on the middle finger. Plus Robert Englund himself said that he gave his agent the original glove, it was never lost. Now ask yourself who are you gonna believe some guy named “mike” or Freddy Kruger him self ? This is nothing more then a well made knockoff also how ironic that he doesn’t have the original glove yet claims the blades are the real ones 🙄
Firstly, that's not a weld mark bulging out of the middle finger. It's actually a dried piece of rubber band that the previous owner had wrapped around the tip at one point. Also, there have been some new developments since I made this video and it 100% puts the entire debate to rest. I have been asked by those involved to not disclose these new developments at this time. Robert has said a lot of things over his career. He even told me that a picture of himself from Nightmare on Elm Street part 1 was actually taken from Nightmare on Elm Street part 3. But that's entirely false. Robert simply is either slinging a false story, or he is simply mistaken. Robert's agent does not own the original glove.
@@josephgillespie4313 dude Mark Petrie makes replica gloves that look identical to the original glove in every way, and Mike Becker makes replica gloves too. Isn't that odd to you?? That's no coincidence. These guys are pulling a scam.
It's just a prop to him. But the glove was eventually authenticated at the highest levels and is now on display at a museum. It's confirmed to be legit now.
Mark Petrie it was completely obvious Mark from the other video that you guys made just showing off some of the easily identifiable markings. Amazing find I wish I could’ve seen it in person!
@mpetrie Is it really believable that some random dude ended up with the actual glove that was used on the set of the movie. Seems like New Line would have hung onto something that epic.

Have you ever worked in the film industry? back then nobody cared for the props value of any movie, Michael's mask in halloween is a perfect example 3 masks were made, and all 3 had rough treatment both during filming and after, this glove is the exact same way
Cool Video Mark, thanks for putting it up for us.
@@jamieward718 That cut deeper than the glove did mate! haha
I love the "Mark must die slow!" So good!
Looks like a regular glove.
It can't be the original glove because I asked Robert about it and he told me the original glove from 1 and 2 is actually in his agents office!
No doubt.
Mark do it! I'd love to see an updated in depth video on the hero glove and comparisons, etc. :)
Mark Petrie you’re literally taking your word over it over Roberts? The one who WOULD know? Oof. You’re delusional, my guy.
Thanks Mark..great vid..So lucky to meet Robert.

@@amberbailey8241 How can you prove it didn't?
Right there is a legend
Odd they only wanted the signature on the inside. You'd think it belongs front, and center on the outside of the glove.
Doing that ruins the value, a guy had robert sign the outside of a screenused Part 1 sweater and the value got ruined because of that
does that only apply for screen used props? or replica props too?
it wasnt even the original glove attached though, so in theory the value is already lowered...plus what the fuck you trying to do with it sell it? or keep it?
Ben Thomas exactly I had Robert sign the inside of my replica part two. I want to use it for Cosplay and whatnot.
lol just reading all your comments about Robert Englund not giving a fuck is cracking me up
After that many movies he didn't seem to enjoy the original.
Sorry Dude But you Dont have a Screen Used Glove
Prove it isn't then
I wouldnt be surprised if it was something he had heard before a thousand times w fake screen used props.
I like how Robert doesn't give a fuck if it was the original or not hahaha
He's more like: "Gimme ma moneyz fan biatch!"
Why do they call it a Hero glove? What does that term mean?
It refers to the main prop worn by the actor and used for close up shots in films
Yeah hero props are to be the definitive prop. The other props used are usually lesser made for stunts and whatever. But the hero props were made with care and to how that item is supposed to look. It’s like the lightsabers. So many of the ones used during filming were close enough on screen but up close are vastly different and inferior
Why are they called hero gloves???????? Never ever heard of em called that before..

He could have just tried his best to sign, made no comment on it and just gave it back.
its funny that your in a line, and no one knows that they are standing right behind the original screen used glove
@@MarkPetrieSLC Sorry, I thought you were the person showing him the glove. Shame this turned out to be such a missed opportunity with Freddy himself.
To be fair you talked to him like a child lol. That’s not the original clearly 😂
I mean Robert does have a point, there were different versions of the glove created for the first and second film...
Part 1 and 2 are the same glove, just slight modifications, and they used one stunt glove before using the blades in freddy's fingers for Part 2
But this is a great piece and you should keep it.”
Just my thoughts.

Yeah it really didn't get the acknowledgement from Robert that it deserved! Kind of a shame. BUT- what really matters is Mike has it, and Mark has duplicated it, so now fans like us can own a copy of the real deal!
By the way I've been researching the crap out of those replicas you make. I'm sold!! Just a matter of scrounging.

Haha, this is hilarious. He had the prop right in his hands and he passes it off as just another of the thousands of replicas he signs. In his defense, you probably should have explained a little more that it was the real deal. I met him a few weeks ago, so I know how it is when you're being rushed through the line. I agree autograph sessions are so impersonal, and the fact you have to pay sucks.
no way that's the original. what idiot would ruin the original by adding signatures to it? that would actually lower the glove's value

Hero glove huh
Signing it hurt the value
the original leather is long gone, the armature is the main piece
Damn. 0 fucks given. What a shame.
I get the point of based on the popularity of the guest, they want things to move quick, so everyone can potentially get their chance, but it kind of ruins the moment at the same time, when this may be the only time you ever get to meet that person.

why does he still have this glove, it doesn't belong to him? It's stolen property that belongs to newline, so would it be ok for someone to steal one of his gloves and sell it on eBay?
Yeah these guys are either in possession of stolen goods, or they made a really good fake. Both Mark Petrie and Mike Becker make replica gloves and sell them. That's really odd and no coincidence either. Since this so called original glove doesn't even have the original leather glove part, it's as good as garbage. It's altered.

Robert was unimpressed it seemed....probably thinking in his head...when is this thing over with...
He has seen thousands of gloves over the years and he is not a big studier of the props like the fans are. So to him, it's really just another glove.

It doesn't matter anyways. If it was stolen off the set who ever owns it now is in possession of stolen property. Who ever does have it wouldn't be credible because there are no receipts or COA. So even if you do own the real original Elm Street glove it doesn't matter because you can't prove it.
Firstly it disappeared off set and was "found" years and secondly a youtuber has confirmed he looked into this video and it was proven to be real.
