- Some local school districts have installed stop-arm cameras to identify drivers who put students at risk. At least 15 states have passed laws allowing for those cameras to lead to automatic citations. But Arizona is not one of them.

I really don’t understand how some people are in a hurry, either leave home 20 minutes earlier or be late, there’s no need to cause accidents.
Give that bus driver a freakin medal… someone acknowledge her and tell her she is a hero and a living legend
All states should make this law...you run past a bus with lights...minimum 1000 fine and immediate license revoked!!! I dont even have kids and this pisses me off
I don't understand how people are willing to risk a CHILD'S life just to avoid a few minutes of waiting. When it comes to such a young life we should do everything we can to protect them.
While I understand citations via camera has been deemed “unconstitutional due to invasion of privacy” at stop lights, this is a completely different scenario. This isn’t about simply running a red light, speeding and other basic traffic violations. This is about common knowledge knowing damn well children are getting off the bus and walking directly into traffic. Some kids have to walk in front of the bus as their home isn’t on the same side as the door. Some kids are very young and have not developed the concept to always look for oncoming vehicles. I fully support more action taken to catch these drivers and not simply send a ticket, but to have more aggressive charges as I feel like more people wouldn’t want to risk catching a case. I personally knew someone who almost lost their 1st grader due to a driver in a hurry, intentionally sped by and passed the bus and hitting this child. The boy was thrown into the air, suffered a bad head injury and endured many broken bones but thankfully did not pass away. I’ve witnessed many drivers ignoring a bus stopping to unload children but, again, thankfully no child was hurt.
One of my friends, who never got their driver's license nor has any interest in getting one, knows that if a bus is stopped with the signs out then you need to stop.
The woman in Indiana that killed 3 kids only got 4 years... thats sad
Make the sign a massive pole so it just destroys someone’s car for putting a minors life at risk
I've almost been hit multiple times. Happened almost everyday my 8th grade year. Now going into 10th, I'm terrified of buses. I'm so happy my freshman year that my bus driver gets off the bus and will scream and yell at drivers for this BS.
I say bring a bill to incriminate under the penal code since they decide to use their vehicle as a weapon.
WTF is wrong with people it only takes a second to stop I mean come on would you rather arrive somewhere a little late or would you rather kill or paralyze a kid and go to jail

One of my middle school bus drivers used to be write down every licensed plate that passed her down, like she was on a hunt 😂
I've stopped for a school bus and people were literally going around me they DO. NOT. CARE. its sickening... it's like would you rather be late to work or kill a kid crossing the road..
If law makers were worried about it the penalty would be a minimum of 30 days in jail and a large fine.
