I have had similar experiences, My bus stop has always been a stop where I have to cross the road. So on a normal morning I was getting on the bus, and all of a sudden the bus driver honked the horn at an oncoming car. I looked ahead of the bus to see what it was and that saved me. I ran as fast as I could to the door, missing the car by about 5 seconds, but it would have been much closer if I hadn’t looked.
My school district cannot drop or pick up someone if the student has to cross the road. At all bus stops, students do not cross the road, the bus has to pull-up in front of the actual stop.
DPS & MSP, I Love this Love this video. As a middle school child, I witnessed a child in elementary school whom was late for the bus. The bus driver pulled in the sign, and I'm not sure if the flashing red lights had turned off, when the first car started moving forward, we yelled stop, put the stop sign out! The little boy was pulling on his coat, turned back as his mom handed him a brown lunch paper sack. He ran out between two parked cars, and we saw the thud, heard the thud, glasses flew, and upmunyil about 3 weeks ago, I couldn't recall why my mind goes blank in Math and English. Three weeks ago someone asked me about my PTSD on UA-cam. I went into the EMS side, and three weeks ago, my brain gave me back something that's been stored in my brain for over forty plus years. Three weeks ago I remembered something, my first two classes of the day back then were Math and English, and it all made sense then. The brain is a remarkable computer, something so traumatic, and after 40 plus years, it finally released that memory. It all made sense why Math and English would just be blank. I couldn't understand it, I couldn't focus on those two classes my whole life after that day. Thank you all for what you do, please thank your families also. They're what truly keeps us in check, the Watchman on the wall stand watch 24/7 365 days a Year! Protecting all, God Bless and stay safe all! And thank you all for your service!... P.S. when I saw that semi drivers fly by the right, I cringed hoping that no kids were let out yet. I've watched other stories about people flying by on the right. Those are horror stories, and I can't even think about children getting off or on the bus, and getting hit. I've seen my share of bus accidents, mostly people running into the school bus. And yes, fatalities were their final end. The kids, all OK, other than traumatized by the crash. Thank you all!..
It is! That's the frustrating part of driving a school bus, the law is the same for the most part in ALL 50 states. Yet people just blow through. The worst part is there usually isn't a cop around when it happens, so it goes unpunished.
These prevention clips should not only focus on stopping when the stop arm is out and the red lights flashing, but also highly recommend people slow down and stop when the ambers flash and that the bus is slowing down. Just as the cars do in the clip.
I have a solution to make car stop for a stopped school buses allowed the school bus to have spike strips on both sides of the bus as soon as the stop sign comes out the spike strips comes out and for people who can’t follow the rules of the road and stop for a school bus gets 4 flat tire😭😱😢 😂🤣😭
pathetic fine, for the risk of murdering a small child. the fine should be a minimum $20,000 and a minimum 5-year sentence in jail with chance of parole.
A fine of 250 - 500 $ is not enough to stop the disrespect of these people, a prison sentence of minimum 7 days behind bars. plus the fine will be a good punishment, then the children are sure that this person will not run them down for the next 7 days.
TheBaconBrotato I have a theory, it may not be good, I can’t drive yet, but why not just slow down and make sure no kids are coming THEN go. What if you need to get to your wife in labor or something? Some people (not all) May have no choice because they need to be somewhere quickly.
Needing to get your wife to the hospital because she's in labor with (I'll assume for the time being) YOUR child - while risking the lives of other people's children is not a good ethical decision. You are literally stopped for a few minutes at most. I can't imagine the situation that would deem this behavior acceptable. You can't exactly know when a child may come running around the bus, not paying attention. So we as drivers have a responsibility to stop and wait until the bus driver deems it safe for traffic to continue crossing. Making your own assessment of the situation is extremely dangerous.
MIDERA I agree with that. Here’s another solution, the bus driver can wave cars across. I’m still thinking about other children’s safety, I’m also making it easier for the general public.
Stafford Northern Railroad but it’s already simple, stop if the signals are out. There is no need to change anything except behavior of drivers. There is no need for drivers to pass stopped buses, ever.
Why isn't the school bus off to the right of the road at 4:37? Why leave that area to the right of the bus free for a car to pass on the right? That's a poor example of school bus safety.
1. Kids disembark the bus on the right, passing on the right is even more dangerous than the left since LOS of oncoming for kids is basically zero. 2. That's the shoulder of the road, not a lane. Driving on the shoulder is prohibited anyway.
This video should be shared with every single state, and should be on repeat at each BMV location across the US.
I'll be passing this on to my safety coordinator. 😁👍

Should be a mandatory video before getting your license.

Thanks Jenni very informative ... Sridhar
setting aside the main topic, that CE seems very Throwback, old school kind of way with those place painted wheel fenders + the manual door opener
License suspensions or jail time might stop these people.
I still think it's should be federal law and never change it.

Honestly should be made a felony no matter what like 🤦🏻♂️

How do you not see a huge yellow school bus?
Not paying attention 😒
@@dancingghostgirl2291 Sorry but if you can't see a huge yellow school bus then you shouldn't be driving

Good video. I like school buses. Have you ever seen a drifting school bus?
hey this is my district!! cool!
this is how people drive its like if they have to stop or if they drive the speed limit they will die
COULD BE that a fine of $5000, no excuses, no exceptions, would work better.
The fine in Texas for running a school bus stop sign is $2000
@@michaelvillafana1677 no excuses, no exceptions?
Yes no excuses
I think it’s 10 points off your license license and you only get 12

That ce is lookin fine ngl
Maybe School Buses should get a Spike Strip from the Police, and if people drive over it, whose fault is it?
If I were nearly hit I’d kick the drivers car
Sooooo riding a bus with no seatbelts with 100% of drivers just ignoring us getting off is safer thank walking?
Seems they ignored what is required at an intersection ! For cars crossing in front of the buss.

How hard is it to stop for 1 minute to let a child cross? This country in to much of a rush
Yes. Good video.

Woow
If you run a school bus stop sign, you should get the death penalty no exceptions.
I rode a school bus to School and it took me 25 minutes
Takes me 2 hours
I was the first stop to and from school lol. Lucky me.
I am sorry
That IC CE is beautiful.
A child just got injured, but the ce is very nice
Teach children to wait until they see cars stop too. You never know who is behind the wheel.
Why is this in my recommended?
Why not? Everyone should be thinking about the safety of children on/around school buses.

Why don't the driver get out and cross the kids we do
That's what many bus drivers in my area do.
thats not a stop arm thats a folding stop sign

I will all ways try and drive past the bus when it stops
Your 3 seconds of time are not worth a child’s life.
Take the stop arms off of school buses and make children use cross walks instead of jay walking.
