This is awesome! Love it! One question: is there a way to add a new word to the dynamic caption? Scenario is that the dynamic caption missed a word somewhere and I need to be able to add it in.
Currently no, you can't add a new word. You can add to an existing word, or remove a word (it'll leave a very small gap) but the timing can't be adjusted as it's auto-generated by AI. We'll see what future updates bring!
Dynamic Captions in Camtasia 2024 work in dozens of different languages! Some work better than others, but there should be pretty decent support for many different languages.
Used it...9.5/10. I had edited the video then did the captioning but the timing was off in a few places. Any tips on that? After a split the captioning did not start right away (like a pause) and then never "caught up" for the rest of the video. Interestingly, the caption track was longer than the video/audio track.
The actual caption media is a pre-defined length of time, so it will almost certainly be longer/shorter than your audio media. You can adjust the length of the caption media to fit the audio media. Note that this won't change any of the timing, just the size of the media on the timeline. We're currently working to improve the already-great timing with Dynamic Captions, so look forward to a near-term update to hopefully improve it even more!
Currently you can really only edit what's there. If you remove a word, a small gap remains, and you can't add. But stay tuned for future updates to this feature.

How do you add words that the caption generator missed in the audio file? I can’t seem to add a missing word. I can type it in with another word in an existing box, but then Camtasia treats whatever is in that box as a single word. It doesn’t highlight the words individually, and it throws off the sync.

The only question is: How well does the transcription actually work compared to Descript? If it's comparable, I'll jump to Camtasia in a minute. (Descript has been annoying me for a long time)
@AlexBooster What we've found is that in general, the better audio you feed in, the better quality you will get out. Speak clearly, use a nice mic, try not to have noise/music in the background, etc. and you should see good results. We already have some ideas for how to continue giving even better results with less effort, but as long as you stick to the above, you should find that you get good results for the transcriptions.
@@KellyRushTechSmith You failed to understand my question completely. My audio is the best it can be. My question involved the word "compare". Look up the definition if you aren't sure what the word means...
@@AlexBooster I use Camtasia & Audiate for all of my creation, so I can't speak comparatively to the results. It sounds like you have a good workflow for audio creation, so hopefully you should end up with good transcription results!

Just to confirm, Camtasia dynamic captions cannot be read by a screen reader, correct? So while Dynamic Captions is a great tool for audiences with hearing impairments or those who want to listen with low/no volume, it does not replace the need for a .vtt file that can be read by screen readers often used by visually impaired audiences. Please confirm.
I'm going to try this new stuff out. I was big concerned your creating too many sub products, focus on beefing up actual Camstasia. The speech inclusion should be standard in the product feature, s2t and t2s on the subtitling side and speaker side.
If you're referring to Audiate, we now offer the Camtasia Create bundle (and Camtasia Pro) where Audiate comes with your Camtasia subscription, and you get all of those features you're talking about in one bundled purchase. The release notes for Camtasia 2024 say: "Editor shortcuts: - New shortcut options to speed up your video editing. Which are these new shortcut options? Why are there no details about this in the release notes? Not even Techsmith Tech Support could tell me what this new feature is about.
Great question! Sorry for a delayed response. (Andy here) I'm going to release a video SOON (Tuesday the July 2nd hopefully) about all of the keyboard shortcuts you can find now that weren't in there before (as well as some that were), but here's the "short (it's not short)" version. JKL - not new, BUT we've made improvements. J/L used to only go 1x, 2x, 4x, & 8x, but now we've added 1.5x, 3x, & 6x as variable speeds in there as well. (We had MANY requests for 1.5x). Also, if you hold Shift while tapping J/L it will slow down one variable speed at a time (if you're playing at 8x, it'll step down to 6x, then 4x, and so on). AND, when you get down to regular speed (1x), it will continue to slow down if you keep tapping - 0.75x, 0.5x, 0.25x, 0.125x. (Slow-motion playback). Speaking of slow, we've added step forward and step backward functionality to JKL (frame-by-frame navigation). If you hold "K" and tap J/L you will go backward/forward one frame at a time. An entirely new shortcut that I'd actually requested and was added (but does not come pre-assigned with any keys) is the "Select Media at Playhead" and "Select All Media at Playhead" shortcuts. I've assigned my shortcut to the letter C & Shift+C respectively. But when you tap the shortcut you assign, wherever the playhead is on the timeline it will select the media on the first track (well, the first track that HAS media on it (usually track 1)). If there are multiple tracks and you wanted to select the media on Track 2, just tap it again. And the latter "Select All" well do what it sounds like, select however many media you have on however many tracks where the playhead is located. This video will hopefully launch next week, and I even include more of my favorite keyboard shortcuts that have been around for years but people may not have been aware of. Thanks for asking and sorry again for the delayed reply!
@@techsmith Hey Andy! Thanks for your response, I appreciate it! I don't want to be the UA-cam troll, but that's not entirely correct - the "Select Media at Playhead" and "Select All Media at Playhead" shortcuts that you're referring to already exist in Camtasia 2023. This means that in terms of selection, nothing has changed in version 2024. All that is new, as far as I can see, are the playback functions. I haven't yet found out how I could use them for my workflow, but I see that some people have asked for them. I'd love to have more shortcuts for functions that are already in menus anyway. Specifically: I use "Copy Properties" and "Paste Properties" extremely often when editing, when I have cropped or zoomed a media and want to transfer the same setting to the next clip. I sometimes make very complex animations with lots of tracks and transitions, so it would be great if TechSmith provided shortcuts for these two functions. Again, thank you for your time!
@@studioonetutorials I don’t consider it trolling when you suggest ways to make Camtasia better! It’s all good. You may be right about Select Media being in the last 2023 update, though it was intended to be held for release. I didn’t realize it went public early. I’m with you on the Copy/Paste Properties shortcut! I’ve mentioned that to dev team members and I have hope that they’ll be able to make that happen in the future. I’ll bring it up again.
Unless I'm missing something ... the feature is downright horrible. Impossible to edit the text, as it adds and deletes word boxes randomly and on its own. I just wasted over three hours trying to edit and correct the text on a 9:35 video and I'm only 3:15 in. There is no way to delete the word boxes entirely, so they show up as blank spaces in the captioning. Techsmith needs to fix this, immediately. Now I have to pay additional money to have my captions added the way I want them. Not good.
Not sure what you're experiencing in terms of adding/deleting word boxes randomly on its own. That absolutely sounds like a bug, not something we've experienced while using or testing. If you submit a ticket to bit.ly/techsmith-help I will also have our team look out for it. We're pretty quick about addressing bugs when they occur and as its a new feature, there will definitely be regular updates as we move forward to have this working to the top of its ability.
@@techsmith Thanks so much for the prompt response! I will definitely submit a ticket. Some UA-cam research indicates I'm not the only one having an issue. Would be great if the captions/text were compltely editable - meaning that the word/text boxes could be deleted or added. Right now this does not seem possible. But i will submit the ticket as you suggested.
Make sure to submit that as a feature request at the link below, so it has a better chance of getting seen by developers that way: techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo?Source=Direct
@@ShivaramaGs you cannot use multiple languages in one video. One language per video with dynamic captions since it is detecting the main spoken language with AI. If you had separate projects per language, then exported each one with its captions, you could combine those exported videos in another project. But it’s not an ideal workflow.
Shame it doesn't work properly - Needs debugging badly as some text disapears and then it lags behind what is being said - I won't be using this feature and will use CapCut which works (I have single words appearing in middle of screen one at a time - Camtasia can only do lines). Ah well was almost thinking I could just use Camtasia.
It's working well for most, but if you're having bug issues the good news is the team is already addressing those and the next update will include any necessary fixes (updates are released fairly regularly). However we CAN do fewer words on screen, just grab the handles of the caption border on the canvas, and drag them in until they fit just what you want them to show. I very quickly tried it and can show you here. Not perfect as smaller words can fit two at a time, but works pretty well. app.screencast.com/6s0n7unWvGLTD
Camtasia 2024 won't even start on my Windows 10 system. It crashes with a "Unable to start Camtasia" error message. Camtasia 2023 still runs perfectly. You can still get Camtasia 2024 as a perpetual (owned) version.
If your ROI is positive, and the company is making regular and significant updates then it's worth it!
Is it possible to export an SRT file? I'm on a Mac.
Too bad they didn't answer you...
@@nycesl I think for now it's a no. Maybe on the next update.

How do I specify the language?
It should recognize the language you're speaking automatically.
@@techsmith it sometimes makes mistakes . Also where can I see a list of supported languages?
We implemented OpenAI's Whisper engine, and here's the list: platform.openai.com/docs/guides/speech-to-text/supported-languages
@@techsmith nice. In this case, it would be nice if I could specify the language, in case whisper makes mistakes
Correct, but we do also offer closed captions for that purpose.
But no matter which you choose, we hope you like the new features!

The release notes for Camtasia 2024 say:
"Editor shortcuts: - New shortcut options to speed up your video editing.
@@techsmith That's great. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to the next videos.
Does it support Hindi ?
Wow!
When eye correction?
Make sure to submit that as a feature request at the link below, so it has a better chance of getting seen by developers that way: techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo?Source=Direct
You guys have been busy!
We sure have! And we're not stopping here :)
How to use multi languages please make one video step by step
Is Arabic language suported?
Yes, Arabic should be supported by the service we use!

Camtasia 2024 won't even start on my Windows 10 system. It crashes with a "Unable to start Camtasia" error message. Camtasia 2023 still runs perfectly. Tech Support is clueless and gives completely nonsensical tips, including tinkering around in the Windows registry (without success, of course). I really hope that instead of me getting more pointless tips, development is working on fixing the crashes. So far I have to stick with Camtasia 2023.
Oh no, so sorry about this! Do you have a ticket number we can follow up on for you?
@@techsmith Thank you! In the meantime, after a lot of back and forth, support has sent me a special build with which no crashes occur at startup - that's great! I hope that this has solved the problem. It's just annoying that I spent so much time on it because support didn't pass it on to development straight away.
Capcut is forcing Camtasia to a necessary updates.
Nah, we were just listening to what our users were asking us for. 😄
@@Rivanni if you buy Camtasia 2024 as a perpetual product (the last version we’re offering that way), and then regularly keep your Maintenance up-to-date, as our CEO Wendy Hamilton said in her video announcement, we’ll honor your Maintenance agreement pricing going forward.
Great addition...but I'm jumping ship due to the Subscription only they're switching to.
Hopefully you saw the entire announcement where it was said that current customers of Camtasia 2024, who keep their Maintenance Agreement active year-over-year, will be able to maintain their price point.

😁😁I laugh that Camtasia has given almost everything but why does the team not pay attention to an important feature which should be there - the option of Audio Sync has not come yet... Syncing many audios becomes a very big task due to which many people do not use this software and this feature is available in all other software but the Camtasia team has fallen asleep on this matter.... I laugh at this thing that they do not give what they should give... they keep giving useless template updates, theme updates

It's not worth renewing my subscription; the only major update is Captions. There's no plan to renew.
you come up with a lot of new unnecessary features, but you removed the top one, this is a drawing tool! Bring back the screen painter! Ask! She is really needed! Because of this, I cannot upgrade to the new version and use the old version!!!
I’m sorry to hear you’re disappointed. Camtasia was never a drawing tool, it was a lesser-used feature (according to our product usage statistics) that we removed during updates a while back. Our team is aware however that people want it back and are looking into it.
In the meantime if you need a solution, you can access screen drawing in our sister product, Snagit.
