Because of that I ordered Camtasia 2023 and I saw myself fully disappointed about the background removal.For the community … When I finish recording, everything is perfectly fine in the preview but when I change into edit mode, the background removal was automatically removed seconds later even if the visual effect was enabled. What I figured is, that this happened because of the enabled proxy files - the yellow dots on the timieline (what makes sense in the end) once I removed all proxy files, the background removal work fine 🫶🏼🕺🏾 all the best, Peter

I just bought an MX Brio and Camtasia, and there is no way I can get the quality of the video background that you get. The quality is terrible. The background removal just doesn't work. Can you tell me which settings, camera, and light settings you use? I have Pro Photo Studio lights and a green screen, and I can get it to work. Using the color removal works better, but still, I can take some green on my hair and around me. I try to adjust it and I end up losing more hair. Using the Background removal tool with the green screen is ok as long I don't move. Any movement I get black marks around me. Please Help. I spent 5 hours trying different ways, and it just doesn't work. I even tried doing a video with the green screen and editing it on Premiere, and it looked great. I would like to use Camtasia the way you use it in your videos. It looks very professional and of great quality. Hope you can help me.
Sorry you're having troubles! There's a few things you can try: 1. Try to make sure the colors of what you're wearing do not blend in with the background; 2. Make sure you're well lit up with lights... including a top down or back light so your outline is lit up a little... this will help separate you from the background; 3. If using a green screen, make sure the screen itself is lit up well too... not from the same light that's lighting you, or your shadow will show on the green screen... not ideal; 4. Failing all of that, the main thing that probably makes my setup work so well with the "Background Removal" is the lens on my camera. I use the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens, and it's that low 1.4 number that results in things behind me being blurry. I'm thinking that the Background Removal tool works best when everything outside "me" (i.e. the background) is blurrier than I am. 5. I find the background removal works best for me when I put myself on a darker screen capture, like I do in these Camtasia videos (Camtasia has a darker UI). It did not work as well when I made a video about Google Drive that had a light/white background... I got a lot of dark artifacts showing up especially when moving my hands a lot. These still happen on a dark background, but aren't as noticeable. I hope that helps!
Make sure you have the latest version (2024) of Camtasia and it's there. If you don't like the results you're getting then try wearing something that contrasts with your background... the tool works better if you can do that. It also works better if you are more in focus than the background. I hope those tips help :-)
There isn't an "angled blinds" transition in Camtasia natively... however, it's something that can be made custom and then saved for later use. Stay tuned... I think it would be a good video for me to make. Also, I'll try to explain how to do it in tomorrow's live stream :)
