  • Camtasia 2024 is here, and it has a few new features, but there is also a significant change that you need to be aware of. In this video, I will explain what is changing and show a few feature updates. The most exciting is dynamic captions. We will look at how to add them to your video, customize them to fit your design style, and correct the captions if the AI does not get the words right. If I am honest, this year's update is a bit underwhelming. But I leave it to you to decide if Camtasia is worth your hard-earned money.

My favourite update to 2024 is the Dynamic Captions, I thought the rest of the updates were fluff to be honest. I have a maintenance licence, which TechSmith is going to honour for the next five years (as long as I don’t cancel it). The maintenance license is definitely a lot cheaper, are the frequent updates worth it? The jury is still out!

Thanks for the video. I'm still using 2023, my biggest complaint is that if you get a new license for a new version for whatever reason (for me work pays for it) you lose the previous years assets. For example been using it since 2021 but everything in the 2021 Camtasia library is now not available. I don't understand why they get rid of some things. Anyhow, thanks again for the video.

I started using Camtasia 22 years ago. My first taste of version 2023 convinced me it was time to dump it. I now use OBS to record and I do all my editing in DaVinci Resolve. I get better results at a substantial savings. And I won't do subscriptions.

I was really hoping they would make some much needed technical updates but instead they are focused on other stuff. For example, Camtasia

I still use Camtasia to this day and every year I am blown away by how little they bother to add each year. This one its almost laughable. They had a winning formula for sure. I still cant make videos and complicated effects in DaVinci as fast as in Camtasia but I swear TechSmith just wakes up 2 week before the next launch date and just cobble something minor up and just move to some thing else. And as always, the install file still doesn't even have the version number on it. Still, thanks for the video.

Honestly, your video for the 2024 update is all you really need. This has been just about the most meagre update from Techsmith I have seen, but ok I'll take it. Thank you for sharing.
