I love your suggestion of a "Rhye musical" and have actually been imagining such a thing for years, encompassing most of the fantasy-tinged songs from their first four albums. I even made a playlist of these songs strung together in the order of a rough story outline. ;)
@@pakancina3138 I'm not aware of such a thing from a story perspective. But I wanted to incorporate all of the tracks that feed into it from the first four albums. There are definite connections between tracks on Queen I, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack, and a handful from A Night at the Opera that would also fit. :) Would like to see the narrative you mentioned tho.
2:30 girl you sounded like stanzi potenza doing anime impressions 💀 the mariah carey lawn mower too lmao. Another great video, love seeing the more jokey side of your content style and I'll also never get sick of the rocketman references either lol
Yes! I was thinking about and envisioning a musical set in Rhye, featuring The Black Queen, White Queen, Great King Rat, My Fairy King, Mad The Swine, the Ogres and all those other characters. I kind of envisioned it as a 2D animated film (classic Disney style) and I think it has a gigantic amount of potential. I can’t do a plot summary in just a short comment, but I would love to share my story idea at some point, which would include other characters and songs written by May and maybe Taylor and Deacon to tell the story further. I also made a “Single White Album” style playlist of an improved version of The Miracle that could have been released in 1989, which includes 2 of the B-sides, Too Much Live Will Kill You, the single version of I Want It All as the opener and When Love Breaks Up as it’s own track.
I love this video, here are some random thoughts: 1. Hot Space is really good and underrated imo, and my dad loves it 2. I had never heard Sheer Heart Attack in full until after watching this video, and it goes hard af 3. I’m glad you shouted out Need Your Loving Tonight because it’s fantastic and often overlooked 4. Princes of the Universe is one of my favorite Queen songs ever 5. A Night at the Opera is my fave Queen album, arguably the only one in which everything came together for the band
Found your channel and was browsing the queen videos... saw this.. LONG AWAY IS YOUR FAVORITE TOO?? Legit twins omg i freaking OUT I LOVE BRIAN'S SINGING VOICE SO MUCH AND THAT SONGS SO PRETTY GAHHH
I haven't started the video yet but I'm very excited to see how your ranking looks compaired to my ranking of them! Edit: LET'S GOOOOO Sheer Heart Attack is also my favorite album!!
I agree ANATO is unassailable, but personally Queen II is my second favorite Queen album. March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle are some of the best rock songs period, IMO.
Well, there was more than a couple of surprises! Always nice to see a fresh take on Queen's discography... if it is not too outrageous, that is, and your ranking surely was not. If anyone cares, here's my rank list ("Flash Gordon" excluded, because I never bothered to sit through it*): 14. "The Miracle" (fav song: "Scandal") 13. "A Kind of Magic" (fav song: "A Kind of Magic") 12. "Hot Space" (fav song: "Dancer" or "Cool Cat") 11. "Made In Heaven" (fav song: "I Was Born To Love You"; it would actually be "Too Much Love Will Kill You", but I prefer Brian's solo version) 10. "The Game" (fav song: "Another One Bites The Dust") 9. "The Works" (fav song: "Hammer To Fall") 8. "Innuendo" (fav song: "Innuendo") 7. "News of the World" (fav song: "Spread Your Wings" or "Fight From The Inside") 6. "Jazz" (fav song: "Fun It") 5. "A Night At The Opera" (fav song: " '39") 4. "A Day At The Races" (fav song: "You Take My Breath Away") 3. "Sheer Heart Attack" (fav song: "In The Lap of The Gods... Revisited") 2. "Queen" (fav song: "Liar"; my favourite Queen song altogether) 1. "Queen II" (fav song: "Ogre Battle/Nevermore/The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke"; I see it as one composition!) - my favourite album ever and just generally a flawless record in my opinion. If I could have only one Queen album, it would probably be that one!
Great video. In regards to Queen’s diminished stature in America pre Wayne’s World: I was 14 in ‘91 when Innuendo came out. Brian May and Roger Taylor did an interview at a radio station. While it wasn’t a public meet and greet event, It’s not unusual for fans to gather at the station to get pics, autographs, etc. my sister worked for the station and said only two fans. Most of the employees simply shrugged when May and Taylor arrived. It’s hard to understate how much Queen had been FORGOTTEN in America before their career resurgence here.
I said it back then I say it now. The massive media is afraid of putting underrated Queen songs Innuendo is getting to pop media slowly but surely and I hope to listen to it on the radio or in those tiktok edits nowadays. But my g, the goat, the millionaire waltz deserves a hit. OMG I NEED IT or who wants to live forever, my melancholy blues, jealousy, in only seven days... *proceeds to rank all queen songs
As to your thoughts on 'A Kind of Magic,' it wasn't a soundtrack per se, but featured the five songs they wrote for the Highlander soundtrack (the song "One Vision" actually appeared in Iron Eagle, not Highlander). 'A Kind of Magic' is polarizing, because it has some of the heavy early-style Queen stuff for Highlander but then some of the worst canned 80's pop like "One Year of Love" and "Pain is So Close to Pleasure."
> Disagrees with some of the placings Me: 😮 > Gets to the bit with Sahana says that even if it's not number 1, Sheer Heart Attack is their favourite Me: yay!
Great video and list, a lot of their 70s albums other than ANATO are underrated and they should be much more appreciated. Oh, and These are the days of our lives was actually written by Roger to his kids and how they were growing up, and about memories in general, but yeah, at the time, people got the song like it was talking about Freddie. Well, here's my list of the albums: 15. Flash Gordon - favorite song: The Hero 14. Hot Space - favorite song: Under Pressure 13. A Kind Of Magic - favorite song: Who Wants To Live Forever 12. Made In Heaven - favorite song: Made In Heaven (?) 11. The Works - favorite song: Hammer To Fall 10. The Miracle - favorite song: Was It All Worth It 9. Jazz - favorite song: Don't Stop Me Now 8. News Of The World - favorite song: We Are The Champions 4. Innuendo - favorite song: The Show Must Go On 3. Queen II - favorite song: The March Of The Black Queen 2. Sheer Heart Attack - favorite song: Killer Queen 1. A Night At The Opera - favorite song: Bohemian Rhapsody

the problem is with a kind of magic, is the soundtrack album is very different to the studio album, as it was made after they made the soundtrack album, as a kind of magic/one vision was a single song on the sound track vs the album

You are so real for giving props to The Prophet's Song. Hell yeah.
I'm surprised she didn't have March of the Black Queen as a favorite after loving proggy Prophet Song so much.

Isn't the album Queen 2 already a rough story outline? I saw a great video explaining their vision of the story song by song.

SHA is also my favorite! Brighton Rock is so damn good
I really enjoyed this, even if the order and song choices differ quite a lot from mine. great seeing the love for so many deep cuts too. Be well.
