Banding the parts of the mood together was very smart. I did not attach the two parts of the mood prior to pouring a 12 pound brass bell. The molten metal floated the top of the mold off the bottom. The guy helping me make the pour and I had to jump to keep the molten brass from coming through our shoes.
Lead is poisonous, it's soft, and it's heavy. The only thing going for it in this project is its low melting point, with the weight being more of a relatively neutral factor since more weight = harder smash. But still, could there really not have been a better metal to use? Iron, maybe?

Lead is poisonous, it's soft, and it's heavy. The only thing going for it in this project is its low melting point, with the weight being more of a relatively neutral factor since more weight = harder smash. But still, could there really not have been a better metal to use? Iron, maybe?

I think this is really cool, but I wish he would've went with a different metal that would be less toxic, and made the inner walls a bit thicker I guess.
