- In this tutorial I demonstrate how to do the Star triaxial. This tutorial was possible due to the work of Raquel Perez Zbornik.
This is quite an exotic technique well suited for wraps on handles, lighters, bottles and such. Bring patience with ya when doing this one!
Enjoy the tutorial!

i dont usually post on videos but i think he does a great job of explaining and in very slow and deliberate during the explanation so that you can keep up without having to stop the video too many times.
I used this to decorate the end of a woven paracord belt. I wish I could show you, it looks so awsome! Thanks for the teaching!
Absolutely amazing. Looking forward to giving it a go. Hopefully, I will be able to maintain my patience like you have. Thanks for the video/tutorial.
I like the David Star shape cords weaving, excellent job.👍
I'm gonna try and do this on a V-Star motorbike grips and if I can succeed I'm sure it'll look great, Thanks for the idea and demonstration.
This is great and you are a really good instructor!
Outstanding video. Thank you for sharing this beautiful wrap. Very well done.
Thank you for a kind comment!
Mark
fantastic, perfect, i'm brasilian and love your tutorials congratulation
WOW, this is so cool, I just had to watch it. Once I started to watch it I had to see the whole thing, how it usually happens. I don’t even do these type of things but now I feel like I do want to try to make this thing.
Did you ever make it?
How did it turn out?
😁
This was an awesome weave. Very cool results.

Thank you for sharing your talent, it’s beautiful. 😎✌🏼
WOW! Thanks for this Fantastic Pattern.
Thank you so much for teaching this beautiful technique and art 😊🇵🇹 from Portugal
I have looked all over the internet, but I can't find instructions on finishing the end. My advice would be to make the leftover pieces longer (so that you have roughly three inches hanging off the object you are wrapping). Then, plait them together and singe the ends together so that they do not unravel.
For the other end, simply singe the ends of the cords together (or repeat step one if you are completely covering the object).
I hope this helps, and good luck fellow you tubers and paracord enthusiasts! :)
You have an amazing talent and you are very creative
Wow😱😱 such an awesome creative one😍😍 good job sir👌👍👍....
Great job on the video, thank you for putting my pictorial in video form!! Tip: Once you've wrapped your initial 3 cords, rotate the mandrel as to loosen the cords(1 to 1 1/2 full turns of the mandrel), then fasten down. It will seem sloppy but will tighten up as you weave sets. It eliminates needing to drop to a smaller mandrel. Thanks again Marko-Paracord Guild!!!!
Excellent comment Raquel!
Thank you for commenting here, it will surely help many!
Mark
I love that you did the video tutorial!! Thanks for doing it!!! Great job Marko!!!
Raquel Perez Zbornik: This will help. Tightness was concerning me. I was thinking if you could start the third sequence from the right side you could weave for an inch or so, tighten and continue as I do with the Qbert weave.

Great looking pattern. I am getting along quite well but i want to make sure i can get this off the mandrill on to the handle of my project. Im doing the braid on a 1 inch pvc and it need to end up on a 3/4 handle. Anytips on how to tighten it all back up after the move?
More videos please!!
Que trabalho maravilhoso!
marko awesome job man....thx for sharing
Maravilhoso ,belíssimo ,lindíssimo, maginifico ,esplêndido.
Love the pattern, would it be possible to do a video on how to transfer it to a smaller rod and how to tighten it up. Thank you
Amazing dud saludos desde colombia

Great video. At what point do you switch to the smaller diameter mandrel?
your ideas is fantastic

That is amazing, I'd love to try it but how do you finish it off?
Is beauty ❤
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you so much. My one question is how do you tie them off so that they do not come apart
Hey!
This is one of the methods I use:

so beautiful 👍👌 but it's a little bit to me to fallou the lines to make the star. I will try again and again. thanks for your lovely work 👏👏
thats amazing😋
Thank you for sharing this weave. How would you start and finish this to keep the loose ends from showing? This is the first project I’m doing with paracord. Creating a handle cover for a hiking staff.
He has another video where he uses nails to secure it to a paddle then does s Turks head knot over that to hide it. Pretty cool!
I would like to ask where do you get the flat lacing fid you use in this video? And you're videos are awesome have helped me so much.
So if I want to do a smaller version of this I just do less wraps to begin with right. How do you estimate length of cord needed for this
amazing tnx
Hi there, we really like this tutorial! keep on going friend!
Thanks for video
Very nice! Thanks!
Glad to see you stop by!
Great whip making vids, seen quite a few myself!
Mark
NicksWhipShop: I'm a big fan of Nick & Mark both. Nice to see you two communicating. Both of you are professionals and give me great information and inspiration. Would like you both to see some of my work making paracord grips on walking sticks but I can't get pictures to post. Next project is Native American flute walking sticks with paracord grips. Oh yeah, I love a challenge. After that I'll get on to the whips. :)
combining your tutorials with the weaving pattern in this vid to make a new flogger ;)
Paracord guild .
Amazing
I have looked all over and cannot find the lacing needle you used in the video. Do you have a link to where I can buy the exact needle? I have been using the flat head of a rifle Otis cleaning kit bit, but that’s hard to do once it’s tight. Thanks and awesome videos
What if I wanted a 5 point star instead of a 6 for an American flag wrap would I do 2 black and one white or how would I organize them
Great braid but i can't seem to understand how to finish? The ends of the tubular braid have to be finished some way maybe closed at one or both ends after covering the object you intended it to cover. Maybe one closed end keeping a round flat bottom like the bottom of a water bottle that will when covered with the braided sleeve still stand upright without falling and the other end finished open but with a sinch cord allowing removel from the object its covering to be placed on a different one. A scinch cord allowing tightening of open top with a sliding knot and braided clip or clasp to attach and carry hands free?
Your tutorials are verry appreciated and clear to understand with nice simple directions verbally and physically so tgank you for shareing sutch rare talent and skill.
I would love to leearn how to finish this tubular braid at its ends and im sure ot bff er beginner's may have the same question. Maybe you could create a tutorial on this verry question regarding the finishing of ends of cylinder braids.
Again thanks and am looking forward to learning more great skills from you.
Wow, I love what you are doing, I'm definitely going to practice it over an over till it become part of me, thanks once more, if I may ask what is the name of the thread (rope)
Hey!
It is called paracord 550.
Mark
an amazon affiliate link to that lacing needle, and various other supplies. would also help support your channel, while alleviating any frustration in locating the items, for your viewers
Well ive searched and searched for this size needle on amazon and they either dont sell it anymore or they call it something else. Not fid, marlin spike, leather lok, nada
Dove si compra l'ago che usi? é un lavoro bellissimo.... complimenti...
Beautyful, i'd like to learn
Very intricate. How do you secure the ends around a permanent piece, (e.g. a flashlight)? Is it best to make it on the permanent piece, or round a mandrel and then slide it? (In which case, what should the size of the mandrel be in relation to the destination?
Hey!
There are a bunch of knots you can use to secure the cords (the strangle knot is pretty decent). A very solid and secure way is also to wrap the start and end using the inner strands of paracord or sinew, then cover the wrapped section using a turk's head knot.
I'd absolutely tie this one on the piece directly. Just make sure you do it VERY loosely at the start.
I hope that helps!
Mark
Thanks for the information.
Hey mark, been looking at this for a while now. Any possibility we could get you to do an update video showing how you’d finish this off. Thanks
I need a flat fid like yours. Were did you get yours?
Excelencia
Lindísimo
awsome
After your done what do you do with the ends?
How did you tie the ends off the cords after making the star?
Is it possible to space the stars by adding more black?
Where did you get that needle from the flat one.
where did you get your lacing needle?
Do I have to keep it on an object when I'm done. I want to make a short leash
Hey!
You can transfer it to a slightly smaller object or if you space apart the strands loosely so that you can then tighten up after you transfer it.
I hope that helps!
Mark
Thanks for the unique design and tutorial! It just about wore my hands out, but I finished one! Transferring to a smaller mandrel was essential, and I probably accomplished it the hard way. Suggestions?
This is something I want to try. There's a walking stick that I have and been looking for something different. Question that I do have,.....with the cords that you have used in the demonstration,....what's the overall length of cords used vs. the length of the finished product??
Hey!
Well, the three longer cords just have to wrap around for the length that you need. The cords that are woven into are just a little bit longer than the length of the product. There is basically very little cord "loss" with this weave.
Mark
Ame este video
I am big fan
Great job!!!! Where can i get a long flat lacing needle just like that one i have never seen one.
In an Arts & Crafts shop or in any shop where they sell materials for knitting/embroidery/tapestry, for instance
TA Hoops I got some on Amazon that are flat.
hi, nice knot! what is the needle you're using and where do i get it?
Where did you get that flat tipped fid?
Where did you get the needle from?
What kind of paracord did you used for this? It seems like a flat paracord?
Where did you get that type of needle?
where do you get that tool you used?
Would this work on a ships helm working around spokes?
Hey! It can work on any cylindrical object. You will need to do it directly onto the spokes.
If you do this, make sure to start your initial wrap loosely to make your work easier. It can be a superb project, but you should count on quite a bit of work.
Mark
You had me at whips
do you recommend a certain book?
Спасибо! 👍
how would you finish the ends?
l like the method
What about the ends? how do you finish it? how do you transfer it to something else??? This was only half the needed video to make it useful.
Thanks alot , u really put sincere efforts in ur art. Any books tht u wud recommend for knots?
Hey!
There are many great books around. It really depends on what you want to achieve. What area of knot work are you most interested in? Knots in general, turk's head knots, braiding, whip making etc.?
Mark
Paracord guild I am more interested in covering/ plaiting household stuff, bike handle bars etc, making bags/pouches and bushcraft in general.
Your channel is a good start for me , now iam able to tie basic 3B/4B turks head on my flute.
Hey again!
Well for fancy knots there are books "Introduction to Turks-head knots" and "Round knots - Advanced leatherwork vol. 2" by Ron Edwards. Ron also has an excellent series of books called Bushcraft , which should be right for you :).
I hope that helps!
Mark
Hey , was practicing some knots from ur videos , check out the out come:-

Where can I get one these fids
سپاسگذارم. خوب بود.
Where do i buy paracord?
Very very good 👍🇲🇦🙏
what about the endings? who do you tie them?
Where can I get a lacing needle like that (flat)?
angiedj62 i got one from a paracord guy online. But found the same one on amazon.
"Extra Large Perma Lok Leathercraft Needle"
angiedj62 .
Thanks WillieNelson (love the name :-) I have the one you're talking about but these appear to be much shorter but are flat like the one I have. I ordered what I THOUGHT was the same one he used and that thing is about 2 inches long and MAYBE big enough for micro or nano cord. I guess I might as well learn how to do some lacing now that I have six new dwarf needles.
for the shorter pieces,.....how many dark and how many light color are there in total.....???? (not counting the wrap around from the start). I'm trying to figure out what the count is. To me it looks like (from right to left) a total of 2 dark and 2 light and the same amount from the left to right weave. Personally this is something I want to try out.
Thanks for the videos
Hey!
There are three dimensions you need to weave. The first is done using the three longer cords (1 darker one and 2 lighter ones). The second and third are again done using a ratio of 2 lighter cords per 1 darker one. You weave each dimension by adding three smaller cords each time until a dimension is all filled up.
I hope that makes some sense :).
Mark
Paracord guild Thanks. What I was aiming for was how many shorter cords all together......or is it one of those things where it depends on the size of the mandrill?
Also,.....I have a couple of walking sticks from Cold Steel.com that I'm looking to wrap. They're kinda on the bumpy side (for reference the Irish Blackthorn walking stick and the African walking stick). With those two items,...considering that I'd be working with an non-straight surface,....what would you suggest??? Any advice would be most welcomed.
And needless to say......thanks for the tutorials.
Hey!
Indeed, the number of shorter cords depends on the size of the object you are wrapping, but the number always keeps the same ratio of dark:white color cords.
As far as the walking sticks go, I think that the African walking stick is less problematic for a wrap. I'd go with a herringbone plait and interweave an additional, smaller diameter cord where the bumps are (or do fancy knots over them). Bumps are usually used in braiding as an opportunity to show fancy work.
The Irish Blackthorn is not evenly bumpy though, so I would use an open wrap, one that lets the bumps stick out of the wrap, not a fully covering wrap.
I hope that is at least somewhat helpful!
Would love to hear more from you!
Mark
Paracord guild Many and much thanks unto you.
Cool. How do you finish it?. You can't leave the ends loose
Hey!
There are a ton of way for finishing. This is one that I quite like:

You may have answered it in another video... but what 'weave' do you recommend starting with if this is a hobby I'd like to learn? Former sailor, so would be good to finally learn.
