  • Each month The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation hosts a Meet the Scientist Webinar featuring a researcher discussing the latest findings related to mental illness. In September, 2019, the Foundation featured Dr. M. Camille Hoffman of the National Institute of Mental Health.
Description: Dr. Hoffman’s research into the fetal origins of mental illness, including schizophrenia, ADHD and autism, seeks to understand how positive and negative factors in human pregnancy influence maternal health, and critical periods of fetal and early childhood brain development based on evidence that some neurodevelopmental disorders manifest decades after a trajectory of abnormal brain development begins in utero. Dr. Hoffman has championed a partnership between the obstetrics and psychiatry departments, and modeled new methods of fetal ultrasound, fetal physiology, and in utero stress hormone exposure to directly assess the mechanisms by which these factors contribute to an increased risk of fetal programming of mental illness. Her goal is to find pregnancy interventions that will improve maternal-child mental health outcomes for women and their children.

Does anyone know of any studies in relation to prenatal choline supplementation & epilepsy or the teratogenic impacts of AEDs? I wonder how the buffering effect translates!
    This was so interesting!

Please avoid that form of choline as it can increase level of TMAO and then metabolize by the liver and increase LDL level

I’ve read that Choline supplementation is important during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Can anyone explain if it’s also important to supplement outside of pregnancy or before trying to conceive? Thank you

Anyone here used PhosChol PPC in pregnancy? Any Feedback ? Most prenatal vitamins dont have it. All the focus is on methyl folate. I am scared to start PhosChol. Any feedback from anyone who actually used this in real life ?
