If Jim actually proposed in Toby's going away party, that would have had the impact of a thousand gut punches to Toby, the woman he likes getting engaged to someone else during his party. Edit: I just realized that Toby is basically a bizarro Jim in this season, and him moving to Costa Rica is just like Jim moving to Stamford to escape from his feelings for Pam.
The joke/prank that Kevin is mentally challenged is the funniest thing that ever happened on this show. It made me laugh out loud, very hard when it's revealed to Holly that he is not mentally challenged.
I think. Kelly was the whistleblower on Ryan because she had tried everything to get him back (with her and/or Stratton. She always put thought into getting him back. • She pretended to be pregnant. • She would go to a lot more effort appearance wise when Ryan visits. • When Ryan does visits from New York she is either making insults at him in front of the whole office telling him if she had built such a bad website she would kill herself. • she used Daryl to make Ryan jealous: None of this behavior has bought Ryan back so her behavior escalates: “So Ryan being arrested in front of the WORLD and on TV. • Her reaction to Ryan being arrested wasn’t one of sadness or surprised. • her monologue about Ryan and her going to visit him in jail and all the other prisoners will comment on her appearance and therefore make Ryan jealous. The monologue was amazingly funny but it felt prepared as if she was aware he could go to jail and when he does go to jail she already knows what she is going to wear and how to do her hair.
Ryan wanted Jim fired and was harassing him. After Jim made a big sale he called Ryan and he got back a condescending answer about puting the sale into his website. Of course, that's not legal and Jim calls Ryan and tells him essentially, he is busting him on his website fraud. That all in the same episode. So, I'm pretty sure it eas Jim.
Michael trying to menace Toby while hiding it from Holly... 😂 Creed being unable to remember his job title (settling on "quabity ashawitz!")... 😂 Holly being convinced that Kevin is a "special needs hire", Kevin acting appropriately... 😂 Andy awkwardly proposing to Angela, dragging the mic and keyboard off the stage... 😂 Just too many amazing character moments in this episode!
I know I'm late but I'm so glad I found your channel! Super underrated, and keep up the good work. I have been binging the entire field guide series so far and have been loving it. You're definitely going to blow up soon
The look on Stanley's face when they are watching Kevin pour the jar of M&M's in his mouth. I know the camera zooms in on it, but it's still brilliant.
In the category of "Stories We Were Robbed Of", the one I would most like to have seen from Season 4 was more of the rise and fall of Ryan. We got glimpses of it in "Dunder Mifflin Infinity" and "Night Out", and other smaller bits and pieces in other episodes, but I think that a Ryan-centric episode could have made for some good comedy if played right. In the conspiracy theory department, I know that many people think that it was an anonymous tip from Jim that led to Ryan's exposure and arrest. But it didn't have to be. Jim says in his message to Ryan that he is going to fight for his job, not that he is going to take down Ryan himself. That's not conclusive one way or the other, but I think that if Jim's plan was just to blow the whistle on Ryan, he would just have done it and not left a defiant message. Also, there didn't necessarily have to be a whistle blower at all. We know that the company is on shaky financial grounds. They're probably constantly going over their own books to see what's making them money and what's costing them. David Wallace (remember that his position is Chief Financial Officer) is one of the few competent people at Dunder Mifflin, and although I can see him deliberately overlooking the questionable results from the web sales for a while, sooner or later he would realize that he'd have to do something about it, or else his own job would be in jeopardy. If I could see just one scene that was never made, it would be one that starts with David Wallace walking into Ryan's office and saying, "Ryan, we know what you've been doing with the web sales," and ends with Ryan being marched out by the police.
season 4 due to the writer's strike for sure robbed us of at least 5 more eps probably 6 and possibly as many as 7 honestly ...we should of gotten more ryan stuff 100% ...maybe a bit more mike and jan stuff and some more toby pam stuff ..and some more funny dwight angela stuff and some jim karen stuff...you can tell the season got squeezed sadly...there was some missed kelly darryl potential too that could of been milked for its comedy this season...i kinda wish they made more episodes for season 4 and just got rid of a couple from season 5...
Strangely enough, this episode just finished on Comedy Central as I’m watching this. I pointed this out in another video, but for Astrid to be Hunter’s baby, Jan has to be pregnant at the dinner party, which is a possibility, but is kinda thin given how much wine she’s drinking & her general mindset.
Jan seems like the kind of woman who would drink while pregnant to keep up appearances in front of guests or at social events (where there are people who are far more observant and practically-minded than Michael) and then silently punish herself for years afterwards.
I mean, it is possible that Michael is the father if they used two condoms. I never thought about that, but you're definitely not supposed to use two condoms. The friction of the two condoms against each other makes them more likely to break. So they weren't as safe as they could have been. But I don't think that was their intention
Michael wasn't forgetting Hank's name there, he was deriding Hank for not being good at his job, in Michael's opinion. Hank was basically saying that he was not concerned about someone stealing things, which is one of the main priorities of his job as a security guard that he SHOULD he concerned about, so Michael was saying like, "great job, you're supposed to be the Security Guard here and you don't even care?" Also, wasn't "it was a good day" a call back to Pam a the end of "Michael's Birthday"?
I personally feel Jim screwed him over by telling him to take it slow. He could’ve done all this while dating her. During the baby shower he realized don’t slow it down. Go get her now. He would’ve had way more time with her had he just asked her out.
It makes sense to say this is Michael's season, and it is. But, this also might be Kevin's season. Some of his best line are in here. "It's nice to win one" and "I'm totally gonna bang Holy" are just amazing. For me, they're absolutely iconic. The delivery is flawless and they're both so different. One is so emotional, so relatable. The other is pure comedic talent. I mean, I love season 2. 2 and 3 are hand's down my favorites, but Kevin (specially in season 2) it's not the Kevin that I grew to love. It's not the same character, they were still finding the right tone. I think they found it in season 3 and he's great in here. So cheers to that. And this is the only episode this season that I would give a 5/5 rating. And no, Dinner Party is not a 5 for me. Like you've said, Dinner Party is an episode that you need to be "fine" to watch, you gotta be in the right spirits. Therefore, personally, I often skip it because of this. Not because it's not great, but because it demands so much of me, and I'm not always with the energy for it.
Hope you enjoyed it! I filmed it a couple of weeks ago, and just had to put the snippet of the contest in there! Trying to get ahead so I can work on some other content!
Am I the only one that now after beating the black ops Cold War campaign just see creed as black from the story? It was so amazing that they casted creed to play him
Ok, this a really weird random thought but.....as much as i LOVE this episode, Jim's hair drives me absolutely crazy. I think John Krasinski is one of the hottest guys alive but he looks so unkempt and scraggly in this episode because of his hair. We've seen him with a nice haircut before, especially in The Job episode. I want to scream "Jim, put a comb through your hair!" Great video though Chris, as always. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. That's another episode that would have been gold..."A Schrute Thankgiving." Haha... :)
Ah I missed this somehow. Yeah, Jim's hair is a thing. I think it's written that Karen is a bad guy for suggesting Jim cut his hair before his interview, but I kind of always agreed.
Could it be possible that his hair is the result of the stress of being the target of the temp/overlord... and where he went from not caring about his job to realising he is likely to be a breadwinner and Ryan is jeopardising that. Edit: also if we as an audience hadn't invested significantly more time in Jim than Karen, I feel Karen wouldn't be the bad guy nearly as much as she is supposed to be.
Toby is actually one of my favourite characters throughout the whole 9 seasons. But he never had a shot with Pam. So you can put that to bed. He would have been shot down so fast if he had tried that. The one relationship that might have been amusing is Jim and Jan. Obviously when they were both single. Jan is an absolute freak of nature and I adore her character.
Here after finishing the Turkey Day MST3K marathon... Like I may've mentioned before, the whole thing with the talking heads windows is definitely intentional, as revealed on the Office Ladies podcast. Awesome reveal here with Pam in that context.
the episode was good with mike and toby stuff but the ending with angela and dwight being seen by phyllis out of nowhere seals it as a 5/5...like it set up the early tension those 3 would have in season 5
You should definitely make a party wars edit, I love those! Looking forward to your review of s5, I have always hated Holly's character and maybe you'll be able to redeem her for me. She just looks like she came out of a Michael fairy tale , like she's literally girl Michael, she's just too perfect for him for my taste if that makes sense.
To be fair to her, she is far more self-aware than Michael... she just gets in awkward situations because she is HR and Michael has spent years conditioning the office that HR is an enemy.... plus they have long built a tolerance for Michael Scott, but not his perceived female equivalent.
I'm still very skeptical about the idea that Hunter is Astrid's father because, based on the timing, it means they were still having sex months after Jan moved to Scanton and was no longer his boss.
@@Mulverine oh, I didn’t notice that. My apologies. I listen to these on my drive into and from work, so I have been going off the sound bites, and I heard the “this is the worst” line by Micheal, and I guess I assumed it was a 1/5. That’s my bad, I love your content, and much have watched 20-30 of your reviews in the last 2-3 days lol.

(Jim) YES! YES! THAT!
One of my favourite episodes just because I can't get GOOODBYE TOOOOBYY out of my head
I love this episode just because I know how quickly Michael's world comes crashing down around his ears with Toby's return in just a few episodes.
